In 1977 Gentle Giant recorded their ninth studio album "The Missing Piece. " It was a time of change. Punk, disco and rap were altering the musical landscape and even this well-established progressive rock band were willing to explore new directions. Side one saw them experimenting with quirky pop (Two Weeks in Spain), a grandiose power ballad (I'm Turning Around), syncopated funk (Who Do You Think You Are?) and even the punky aggression of Betcha Thought We Couldn't Do It. Normal service was resumed on side two with some of their most sublime and intricate progressive stylings to date. It remains a polarizing effort amongst fans to this day, some bemused by its diversity, others enchanted by its versatility and sense of humor. The Missing Piece certainly proves that Gentle Giant could play anything they set their minds to. It was the last Gentle Giant album to chart in the USA. Award winning producer and musician Steven Wilson continues his association with the band, remixing the album in Dolby Atmos, Stereo and 5. 1 surround sound. In addition the digipak CD/Blu-ray version also contains an instrumental mix, the original 1977 stereo mix and videos for each track.

Anthony Phillips & Harry Williamson/Gypsy Suite [Remastered & Expanded Edition] ....import CD $18.99

New remastered and expanded release of the evocative recordings by Genesis founder member Anthony Phillips and Harry Williamson. Remastered from the original master tapes with five bonus tracks, fully restored artwork and a new essay. The roots of this collaboration go back to the early 1970s and coincided with the birth of another project by the duo, 'Tarka.' The album 'Gypsy Suite' was originally released in 1995 and comprised a series of demo recordings of this beautiful and haunting music made between 1975 and 1978, along with original demos made of the 'Tarka' project (which would finally surface in completed form in 1988). The recordings featured in this new version have all been newly re-mastered and a previously unreleased demo of 'The Hunt' has also been added. This new expanded remastered release features an illustrated booklet with a new essay by Jonathan Dann.

Tim Blake/Crystal Presence: Albums 1977-1991 ....import 3 CD Set $33.99

A new remastered three CD clamshell box anthology featuring the first three albums by legendary synthesizer pioneer Tim Blake. Includes the albums 'Crystal Machine,' 'Blake's New Jerusalem' and 'Magick,' plus an illustrated booklet. Tim Blake first came to prominence as a member of Gong where his synthesiser experimentation was demonstrated on 'Flying Teapot,' 'Angel's Egg' and 'You.' He later joined Hawkwind from 1979 - 1980 and from November 2007. After departing Gong in 1975 he teamed up with French lighting designer Patrice Warrener to form Crystal Machine, pioneering the use of lasers and synthesizers in a live setting. Blake's debut album, 'Crystal Machine,' was originally released in 1977 on the French experimental label Egg and featured two pieces recorded live in the UK and in France. This work was followed by arguably his finest work, 'Blake's New Jerusalem' in 1978. Unlike his previous work, the album featured songs and the lengthy title-track would dominate the album's second side. 'Blake's New Jerusalem' also saw the guest appearance of Jean- Philippe Rykiel on mini-moog. He briefly joined Hawkwind before returning to France and moving away from music. Tim returned to the music scene with the album 'Magick' in 1991, recorded at his home studio in a windmill in Brittany in one evening. This collection of the first three albums recorded by Tim Blake confirms his status as a true pioneer of ambient electronica.

Mute and Spoon Records present the next installment of the curated Can live concert series, Live in Paris 1973 - the first in the series to feature Damo Suzuki on vocals. Two disc CD with exclusive sleeve notes by journalist Wyndham Wallace. The series was overseen by founding member Irmin Schmidt and producer/engineer Rene Tinner, who delicately worked on restoring the archival recordings to the best quality for current modern technology. This record captures the band's 1973 performance in Paris, and features Irmin Schmidt on keyboard & synths, Jaki Liebezeit on drums, Michael Karoli on guitar, Holger Czukay on bass, and Damo Suzuki on vocals for one of his final shows with the band.

Ash Ra Tempel was the cult band of guitarist and experimental musician Manuel Gottsching. They are considered one of the pioneering bands of the German Cosmic Rock, avant garde, electronic music scenes. Their self titled debut is considered one of the founding documents of "Krautrock." Ash Ra Tempel's third releases features Harvard professor Timothy Leary on vocals. Originally released in 1973, this edition on MIG has been remastered by Ash Ra Temple leader Manuel Gottsching. More otherworldly acid rock!

"Join Inn" is the fourth Album by Ash Ra Tempel and was recorded in 1973 during sessions for Walter Wegmuller. It was originally released on LP by Ohr in Berlin. Each side of the LP comprises one long track.

"Starring Rosi" is the 5th Album by Ash Ra Tempel. Released in 1973, it is by far the most accessible Ash Ra Tempel album. Beside the drums, Manuel Gottsching played all the instruments himself. "Starring Rosi" has an organic, relaxed sound, that evokes San Francisco psychedelia. It is an evocative album that already delineates the direction in which Manuel Göttsching would go in the future. The icing on the cake are the charming recitations and songs by Rosi Mueller. Remastered by Gottsching.

Musician and writer Karl Bartos has long been admirer of Weimar-era culture. During his time in Kraftwerk, he helped create the stunning track 'Metropolis,' directly inspired by a band viewing of the classic 1927 Fritz Lang film of the same name. The original orchestral music composed for The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari by Giuseppe Becce had long been lost and in 2005, after watching the film, Bartos imagined what it would be like to create an entirely new one in the 21st Century in his home studios in Hamburg. Now with crystal clear images, digitally restored by the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Foundation, the film is visually the best quality it has ever been, and now, with Bartos' soundtrack, there is impressive sound to go with the haunting vision.

Housekeeping is a comprehensive remastered collection of No-Man's output for the OLI label between 1990-1994. By the turn of the '80s, the impact of David Bowie's ground-breaking Berlin recordings - the synths, the alienation, the drily futuristic production - was being felt on music across Europe. What's more, the records being made were reflecting back and influencing Bowie's own work - 1979's "Lodger" and 1980's "Scary Monsters" owed a debt to strands of German kosmische (Holger Czukay), new electronica (Patrick Cowley, Harald Grosskopf), and the latest works from old friends and rivals like Robert Fripp, Peter Gabriel and Scott Walker, all of whom had been re-energized by the fizz of 1977. Compiled by Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley and the BFI's Jason Wood, "Fantastic Voyage" is the companion album to their hugely successful "Cafe Exil" collection, which imagined the soundtrack to David Bowie and Iggy Pop's trans-European train journeys in the mid-to-late seventies. "Fantastic Voyage" is what happened next. Bowie's influences and Bowie's own influence were rebounding off each other as the '70s ended and the '80s began, notably in the emergent synthpop and new romantic scenes as well as through the music of enigmatic acts like the Associates and post-punk pioneers such as Cabaret Voltaire. Like "Low" and "Heroes," some of the tracks on "Fantastic Voyage" are spiked with tension (Grauzone's 'Eisbar,' Gabriel's 'No Self Control') while some share those albums' sense of travel (Simple Minds' 'Theme for Great Cities,' Ryuichi Sakamoto's 'Riot in Lagos') and others find common ground with "Lodger's" dark, subtle humour (Thomas Leer's 'Tight as a Drum,' Fripp's 'Exposure'). What happens when the world's most raucous rock/fusion instrumental power trio decides to make a concept album? You get Duck, the story of a web-footed Antarctic island native fleeing a penguin policeman to New York City...where considerable misadventure and danger await. Snakefinger/Chewing Hides the Sound [Deluxe Edition] ....2 CD Set $22.

Snakefinger surely needs not much of an introduction. Born Philip Charles Lithman in London, he moved to San Francisco in 1971. His roots lie in the British blues scene, but he soon became friends with The Residents who also gave him the name Snakefinger based on a photograph of Lithman performing, in which his finger looks like a snake about to attack his violin. In 1972 Lithman returned to England and formed the pub rock band Chilli Willi and the Red Hot Peppers. After the lack of success of the second album, he returned to the states and work on his first solo album began. Chewing Hides The Sound came out in 1979 on Ralph Records. It includes classics such as his Kraftwerk cover The Model, What Wilbur? and Picnic in the Jungle. The songs on the album were co-written with The Residents. The music showcased Lithman's distinctive slide guitar playing and often surreal imagery. At the same time, a string of singles was released. All tracks that were exclusive to these releases are added as bonus tracks here. Very recently, a so far unknown remix of the whole album was discovered in the Residents' archive. It was made in 1987 in preparation for the Snakey Wake by The Residents and has never been published in any form. Klanggalerie are now proud to present you this lost gem for the first time ever on this double CD.

The Incredible String Band were a British psychedelic folk band formed by Clive Palmer, Robin Williamson and Mike Heron in Edinburgh in 1966. The band built a considerable following, notably with their albums The 5000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion (1967), The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter (1968), and Wee Tam and the Big Huge (1968). They became pioneers in psychedelic folk and, by integrating a wide variety of traditional music forms and instruments, they made a significant contribution to the development of what is now called world music. Following Palmer's early departure, Williamson and Heron performed as a duo, but were eventually augmented by other musicians such as Licorice McKechnie, Rose Simpson, and Malcolm Le Maistre. The band split up in 1974 but reconvened in 1999 and continued to perform with changing lineups until 2006. This release brought to you at mid-price is a live show recorded at the Fillmore East on 5th June 1968. It features some truly mesmeric performances of tracks from the band's first two albums, and showcases songs such as 'Maya' and 'Ducks On A Pond', which would feature on the forthcoming Wee Tam and the Big Huge.

This two CD set features new reworkings of two of Peter's landmark albums originally released in 1988 and 1990 respectively. 'In a Foreign Town | Out of Water 2023' is a new project by Peter Hammill which features new reworkings of these two classics. 'In a Foreign Town' was released in its original form in 1988 to critical praise and featured material with a political edge and saw Hammill explore the use of MIDI technology in the studio and featured contributions from violinist Stuart Gordon. 'Out of Water' was a slight change in direction, featuring a more band orientated approach with contributions and featuring a more confident approach from Peter with regards to mastering the studio technology of the day. Over the years the reaction to the original versions of both albums has mixed, with some fans praising the material but finding the '80s production style not to their taste. The influence Namlook had on Klaus's music in the middle of the nineties should not be taken lightly, because although Klaus dearly loved those early-analogue elements from his own music, they had become, to an extent, lost. It was Pete who fortified him to go back to the analogue charm of his early albums and it was Pete who supported him in the modification of his analogue instruments, leading finally to the epoch-making Schulze album from 1996 - "Are You Sequenced?" And so a legendary series of recordings was born. 'Dark Side Of The Moog' grew more or less unplanned to a sprawling, stately-sized series of eleven volumes recorded between 1994 and 2008, only ending with the early, tragic death of Pete on November 8th 2012.

Chick Corea Elektric Band was a jazz fusion band, led by keyboardist and pianist Chick Corea and founded in 1986 in New York City. The band was nominated twice at the Grammy Awards. The band's typical line-up, in addition to Corea who played keyboards and piano, was Eric Marienthal (saxophone), Frank Gambale (guitar), John Patitucci (electric bass), and Dave Weckl (drums). This was the line-up for the first two albums: the eponymous The Chick Corea Elektric Band, released in 1986, and Light Years, released in 1987. The third album was Eye of the Beholder, released in 1988. The material for the fourth album, Inside Out, released in 1990, was Corea originals. The last album featuring the band's traditional line-up was Beneath the Mask, released in 1991.

Previously unissued performance from the iconic British folk-rock band recorded live at New York's legendary Bottom Line. Recorded on the Now We Are Six tour, it introduces one of their best-known songs, "Thomas The Rhymer" - a track that has become a staple in their live set since its release on Now We Are Six. Fairport Convention co-founder and bassist Ashley Hutchings and legendary singer, Sandy Denny parted ways with the group after their classic Liege and Leaf album. Hutchings recruited Tim Hart & Maddy Prior (an established folk duo) and Terry & Gay Woods, naming their new band after a character in the traditional song "Horkstow Grange." While their line-up fluctuated (Terry Woods would leave and later become the bassist in the classic Pogues line-up a decade later), the band solidified and continues to this day. Staying true to their folk roots, the band found themselves not only supporting Jethro Tull on tour, but signing to Chrysalis Records. Their breakthrough sixth album released in 1974, Now We Are Six (referring to both number of album releases and band members), was supervised by Tull's Ian Anderson (with a cameo from David Bowie on saxophone!) That release included the track "Thomas the Rhymer," which has become a Steeleye concert staple. On their fourth tour of the US, Steeleye Span played New York's fabled Bottom Line in July of 1974, showcasing not only material from their new and previous albums, but adding the classic jig and reel medleys the band had become known for in performance. The 74-minute set includes their #14 UK hit "Gaudete," the classic "John Barleycorn," and much more. Many of the US tour dates were headlining shows, they garnered good press and some were broadcast on local FM radio, including the Bottom Line show which was carried on WNYU-FM. Live at the Bottom Line 1974 documents what may have been Steeleye Span's longest and most successful tour of the US, and we're lucky that on this New York City night, the tapes were rolling to capture this fantastic ever-evolving live band.

"In 1984 I was on tour with John McLaughlin, first with Mahavishnu we had a show in New York were I was introduced to producer Bill Laswell by Michael Shrieve. He playedme a recording he had just done with Ginger Baker. I was intrigued and impressed with the drumming and asked Bill if I could have Ginger's contact info. A few months later John andmyself had a European tour as a duo. As we played Italy, close to where Ginger was living at the time, I called him up and through the harsh language I could tell that I wasspeaking to a real person with a heart of gold. For the next four years or so we did a lot of playing together. The main lineup on our tours was Ginger, me and (legendary keyboard)player Bernie Worrell (P-Funk, Talking Heads and more, too much to mention). Bernie had helped me out on my first international record "Axis." This trio was a pleasureto play with, and a great hang. Ginger privately at this time was, believe it or not (considering his present reputation), a rather jovial fellow. Constantly singing oldEnglish Music Hall hits, dancing around and playing spoons. One of these musical travels brought us to the Bracknell Jazz Festival. Ginger was at the time (unnecessarily) afraidof the UK taxman so he performed as Pete Edwards. The days after, we recorded for three days at a studio called Marcus Music, where my very good late friend Tim Hunt wasengineer. The resulting tapes have been sleeping ever since. Rediscovering them was truly wonderful. With the hope that you all, whoever is out there and interested, will alsoenjoy hearing this late 20th century recording of three hard to categorize musicians flying under the radar, I give you the Concert of Europe." Phil Manzanera and Andy Mackay are set to release a new instrumental album, AM PM. The Monks/No Shame: The Complete Recordings ....import 2 CD Set $27.99

Two CD set featuring all of The Monks' issued albums and singles, as well as six bonus tracks, five tracks previously unreleased on CD and five completely unreleased tracks. TheMonks were formed by Richard Hudson and John Ford who had both been in Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera before joining Strawbs. After finding success as a song-writing partnershipduring their stint with Strawbs the pair left to start their own project Hudson Ford before forming The Monks in 1979. Bringing in vocalist Terry Cassidy, the band quicklysecured a deal with EMI after their single 'Nice Legs Shame About Her Face' hit the Top 20 of the UK Singles Chart but EMI was soon to be taken over by Thorne and the band's debutalbum 'Bad Habits' got lost in the transition. Although 'Bad Habits' did not fare well in the UK it was a surprise success in Canada, spearheaded by the success of the single'Drugs in My Pocket' that hit the Top 20 of the Canadian Singles Chart, the album would eventually go double-platinum in Canada. Free of EMI and electing to concentrate on theirpopularity in Canada, the band's second album, 'Suspended Animation' was released in Canada in 1981 on Polydor. The album went gold in Canada as the band enjoyed somethingakin to Beatlemania as they toured the country in support of the album. Plans were made for a third album, 'Cybernetic Sister,' and recording sessions took place but the banddissolved before the record was completed; all six of the songs that were completed are included on this set.

It's the first time Ongaku Zukan is getting a full release outside of Japan. Coming out via Wewantsounds, Ongaku Zukan was Sakamoto's fourth solo album and features contributionsfrom Yellow Magic Orchestra's Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi, and Yasuaki Shimizu, Tatsuro Yamashita and Toshinori Kondo. At the time, two editions of the album werereleased in Japan - a regular one with a bonus 7" two-track EP and a limited edition version with a 12" three-track EP. An international edition of the album was releasedtwo years later with the title Illustrated Musical Encyclopedia. However, the tracklist was different, with five songs dropped from the original release. Wewantsounds' upcominginternational reissue has remastered audio and has been made in collaboration with Sakamoto's management and Midi Inc. Regarded as one of the premier musicians in the world, David Sancious was a founding member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band; toured and recorded with Peter Gabriel,Sting, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Santana, Seal and a long list of A-level musicians; and created groundbreaking music with his own band, Tone. Sancious recorded his most ambitiousalbum, Dance of the Age of Enlightenment, in 1976. Conceived as a ballet in four movements, at the time of the recording, technology did not allow for synthesizers to playmore than one note at a time. To create the sound of an orchestral ensemble every part of the orchestration had to be painstakingly overdubbed individually by Sancious on a MoogSynthesizer. Despite the music's quality, Sancious was notified by his record company that the album would not be released. Outside of bootlegs, Dance of the Age of Enlightenmenthas remained in the vault... until now. Remastered from the original master tapes under David Sancious' supervision.

Formed in Bristol in 1969, Stackridge were one of the most unique British bands of the era. Their initial line-up featured Andy Davis (guitar, keyboards, vocals), James Warren(guitar, vocals), James "Crun" Walter (bass), Michael "Mutter" Slater (flute, vocals), Michael Evans (violin) and Billy Bent (drums). Possessing a gift formelody, musicianship and a fine sense of humour and English eccentricity, their concerts were legendary. Throughout 1970 the honed their song writing and live act, appearing atthe very first Glastonbury festival that year. In 1971, Crun Walter departed the band and James Warren assumed bass guitar duties. They signed to MCA Records and recorded theircritically acclaimed self-titled debut album, issued in August that year. Their second album, 'Friendliness,' was issued in November 1972, the album and subsequent tours withfellow Bristol act The Pigsty Hill Orchestra and latterly Camel, gained the band more dedicated followers. The band's third album, 'The Man in the Bowler Hat' was produced bythe legendary George Martin and was widely well received by critics and fans. Following the release of the album Stackridge underwent a series of line-up changes and signed toElton John's newly established Rocket Records label, releasing the album 'Extravaganza' in 1975. The following year, they recorded their final album of the 1970s, the conceptual 'MrMick.' The original version of the album featured a story and narration and was rejected by Rocket Records and the band were forced to prepare a different version of the recordfor release in 1976. This Esoteric Recordings edition has been expanded to include the original version of the album as originally planned by the band. The release also featuresan illustrated booklet with an essay and exclusive band interviews.

Michal Urbaniak is one of the biggest jazz stars, violinist, saxophonist, arranger and promoter of young talents of our time. Multi-instrumentalist Michal Urbaniak (violin,saxophone, lyricon) was born in Warsaw in1943 but grew up in Lodz, of which he is an ambassador and honorary citizen. In 1962 he traveled to the United States for the firsttime, performing at various jazz festivals with Andrzej Trzaskowski's quintet The Wreckers. From 1969, he led the Michal Urbaniak Group, which consisted primarily of Polishjazz artists, namely Adam Makovicz (electric piano), Pawel Jarcebski (bass), Czeslaw Bartkowski (drums) and his wife Urszula Dudziak (vocals). The present Radio Bremen concertwas recorded with this line-up as well. After that, he and his wife moved back to the United States, where he performed in numerous clubs and concert halls (f.e. Carnegie Hall,Beacon Theatre) with jazz stars such as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Billy Cobham. In 1985, he participated in a recording session with Miles Davis for the album"Tutu!" He was a co-founder of the so-called UrbJazz fusion jazz in New York. To date, the exceptional Polish artist has released over 60 albums. This set includes twooriginal albums from Michal Urbaniak's early days, "Paratyphus B" and "Inactin," and a unique live recording from Radio Bremen in 1972, where hepresented the tracks from those albums before they were released on vinyl a couple of months later.

Fifty years ago British rock band Wishbone Ash brought out 'Live Dates,' their most commercially successful album, a milestone not only for the band, but also in the historyof rock music. "At the time, we had been on tour non-stop for three years, had released 'Argus' - from today's point of view our most important studio album - and werelike a well-oiled machine," remembers founder Andy Powell who continues to helm the group. "We had made a name for ourselves as a dynamic live act, so it only made senseto capture the energy and vibrancy of our shows on a live album. Fortunately, the record company funded the costly Rolling Stones Mobile Recording Truck, so we were able to recordseveral shows during our UK tour and compile the most powerful moments on 'Live Dates'."
