Greenslade/Time and Tide [Remastered Expanded Edition] ....import 2 CD Set $22.99
Esoteric re-press of this 2019 release. Esoteric Recordings is proud to announce the release of a newly re-mastered and expanded 2 CD edition of the classic 1975 album, Time and Tide by Greenslade. Formed in 1972 by former Colosseum keyboard player Dave Greenslade, the band also featured former Web and Samurai member Dave Lawson (keyboards, vocals), former Colosseum bass player Tony Reeves and drummer Andrew McCulloch (formerly with King Crimson and Fields). The calibre of the members of Greenslade ensured that the group would be innovative, ground breaking and dynamic in their musical approach and would also be notable due to the absence of a guitarist within their ranks. Following the release of the album Spyglass Guest, Tony Reeves departed the band and was replaced by Martin Briley, who was to feature on the band's next album. Originally issued in May 1975, Time and Tide was the band's final album of the 1970s and was a fine record that featured such compositions as 'Flattery Stakes,' 'Waltz for a Fallen Idol,' 'Newsworth' and 'The Ass's Ears.' Considered by many to be a band at their finest on stage, this expanded edition of Time and Tide includes a bonus CD featuring a superb sixty-minute concert recorded for Swedish Radio in March 1975 in Stockholm, re-mastered from the original Swedish Radio master tapes, offering a glimpse of the excellence of this short-lived line-up of band in a live environment and released officially for the very first time. This Esoteric Recordings expanded edition has been newly re-mastered from the original master tapes and features an illustrated booklet and includes an essay by Malcolm Dome and exclusive interviews with Dave Greenslade and Dave Lawson.

Bill Bruford's Earthworks/A Part and Yet Apart ....import CD $22.99
The fifth album from Bill Bruford's Earthworks, originally released in 1999. Featuring pianist Steve Hamilton who trained in the US, and played with Bobby Hutcherson, Freddie Hubbard and Gary Burton among others; with Patrick Clahar, the fast-rising London tenorist best known for his work with Incognito, and Mark Hodgson on bass. Following his mid '90s sojourn with King Crimson, drummer Bill Bruford returned to the scene with his fully-acoustic Earthworks Mark II, which hit the ground running in 1999 with 'A Part and Yet Apart.' Having effectively jettisoned electronic percussion Earthworks revisited the acoustic sax-piano-bass-drums line up with it's muscular, visceral acoustic fusion. This album has been out of print for some time and this re-release is on Bruford's own Summerfold Records and was overseen personally by Bill Bruford.
Tony Williams/Play or Die ....CD $18.99
Tony Williams certainly counts among those unique drummers in jazz today, whose work has had a lasting influence on styles and still does. At the tender age of 16, saxophonist Jackie McLean brought him to his band in New York. He also made his first recording with McLean. Soon after, aged 17, Williams was already making a splash in the second Miles Davis Quintet. Almost twenty years later, in 1980, on May 30 and 31, Tony Williams went to the Zuckerfabrik recording studio in Stuttgart, Germany, together with Tom Grant (keyboards, synthesizer, he joined this band on the recommendation of Jeff Lorber) and Patrick O'Hearn (bass, synthesizer, from Missing Persons and Frank Zappa). In the 1970s and early 1980s, this studio was an illustrious address for audio productions of all kinds. Larry Coryell, Wolfgang Dauner, Stephane Grappeli, Elvin Jones, Martin Kolbe + Ralf Illenberger, Volker Kriegel, Alphonse Mouzon, John Scofield and the United Jazz + Rock Ensemble recorded there, to name just a few. Tony Williams and Peter Schnyder co-produced the recording. The album was recorded in just two days and mixed right there in the studio. This timeless album, released in an edition of only 500 copies, was hardly promoted at the time and may therefore have remained unknown to one or the other. All the better that now for the first time since the release of the vinyl it is also available on CD, with a significantly improved sound.

A true legend and well established in the history books of jazz music, Larry knew and played with many of the well known jazz and rock greats of the 20th and 21st Centuries such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Chet Atkins, Chico Hamilton, Gary Burton, Chick Corea and Miles Davis. Larry's "Last Swing in Ireland" was his last visit to the Emerald Aisle and he made a lasting impression at Hellfire Studios and The Sugar Club with his favorite Irish rhythm section, Kevin Brady and Dave Redmond in May of 2016. Babe Ruth/Darker than Blue: The Harvest Years 1972-1975 ....import 3 CD Set $38.99
New thre CD clamshell boxed set of the albums and singles by the band babe ruth recorded for the harvest label between 1972 and 1975. Featuring the albums 'First Base,' 'Amar Caballero' and 'Babe Ruth.' Newly remastered from the original Harvest master tapes with an illustrated booklet featuring an essay. Babe Ruth was formed in Hatfield in 1970 by guitarist Alan Shacklock and featured vocalist Janita "Jenny" Haan, bassist Dave Hewitt and drummer Jeff Allen. Their unique brand of soulful progressive rock soon gained many admirers and in 1972 they signed a contract with EMI Records' progressive imprint, Harvest. By this time Jeff Allen had departed and Dick Powell joined on drums. The band's line-up was also expanded by the arrival of keyboard player Dave Punshon. Babe Ruth stood out from many of their labelmates, partly due to Haan's vocals and through the band's ability to generate a soulful edge to their music. Their debut album, 'First Base' was issued in 1972 and featured the classic tracks 'Wells Fargo' and 'The Mexican' which gained considerable air play in Canada and the USA, but the record inexplicably failed to match this success in the UK. The arrival of Chris Holmes on keyboards and new drummer Ed Spevock in 1974 saw them follow their debut with 'Amar Caballero,' before the band's final album for Harvest in 1975, the eponymous 'Babe Ruth' which was a hit in the USA and Canada and featured the band's memorable cover of the theme from the film A Fistful Of Dollars and the Curtis Mayfield composition 'We People Darker Than Blue.' Soon after the album's release Alan Shacklock departed the band (to be replaced by Bernie Marsden) and Babe Ruth moved labels to Capitol Records.

"I needed more of that 'Spice,'" Schulze recounts. "From there I felt completely unleashed and just played and played... at the end of that second private 'Dune' journey I realized: 'Deus Arrakis' became another salute to Frank Herbert and to that great gift of life in general." Since his beginnings in bands like 'Tangerine Dream' and 'Ash Ra Tempel' or in his over 50 solo albums from 'Irrlicht' to Mirage,' 'X' and 'Dune' to 'Farscape,' 'Kontinuum,' Silhouettes' and now 'Deus Arrakis,' in his productions under the pseudonym 'Richard Wahnfried' or the numerous film scores and collaborations with artists like Arthur Brown, Michael Shrieve, Rainer Bloss, Lisa Gerrard or most recently Hans Zimmer: Klaus Schulze has always remained true to his unmistakable way of creating music and yet always remained open to the new, the innovative, the experimental.

Following the release of the album 'Overdog' in the Spring of 1971, Miller embarked on recording his first solo album, 'Bright City.' The album would see Anderson embrace folk influences alongside the more familiar styles associated with his work as part of the Hartley Band. The result was a fine and inspiring record.
