Wounded Bird Records was formed in 1998 as a label that specializes in the reissue of albums from the 60's, 70's and early 80's on compact disc. All of their releases are properly licensed from the owner of the original masters, in most cases the original record label and sometimes the artists themselves. They strive to reproduce the original album cover artwork, converted to accommodate the CD size format.

Chase was a jazz-rock horn band masterminded by trumpet player extraordinaire Bill Chase. The only issued three albums, all of which made the Billboard charts when originally issued in the early 1970s. Tragically this all came to an end when most of the band, including Bill, was killed in a plane crash in 1974. Their music lives on with these three excellent albums, gathered together here as three albums on two CDs.

Quiver were a rock group from England who are associated with The Sutherland Brothers Band. These two groups put out albums together, using both names - one strange idea rarely seen since. After this pairing went their separate ways, Quiver then issued two albums themselves. The eponymous 'Quiver' came out in 1971. 'Gone In The Morning' was issued in 1972.

John Cale is best known as a member of the Velvet Underground. Terry Riley is best known for his exploration of avant-garde music. The formed a onetime collaboration on 'Church Of Anthrax.' This has been one of the long sought after CD requests for it has never been issued on CD until now!

Cab Calloway was a jazz singer who maintained fame from the 1930's through his death in 1994. His most famous song was "Minnie The Moocher." His music has also been used in those famous Gap dance commercials. This collection of his best work, Hi De Ho Man, was originally released as a two record set in the 1970s on Columbia Records. We now present all 20 songs from this album on a single disc CD.

Horslips were a rock group from Dublin, Ireland. They had a few highly regarded, Celtic flavored albums. Happy To Meet, Sorry To Part was their very first album. It is significant for its uniquely shaped album cover, which we've tried to illustrate with our CD artwork. The Tain was their second album. Both of these albums were originally issued on Atco Records in 1973 & 1974 respectively.

Gordon Haskell is best known for his connection with King Crimson, singing on their 2nd & 3rd albums. In 1974 he recorded one of his rare solo albums, 'It Is And It Isn’'t. It features another King Crimson alumni, John Wetton.

David Gates is best known as the leader of the group Bread. After Bread dissolved, he issued a number of fine solo albums. His first solo album was appropriately titled First. It reached # 107 on the Billboard charts in 1973. Never Let Her Go was issued in 1975 & reached # 102. Goodbye Girl was originally released in 1978 & reached # 165. Falling In Love Again was originally issued in 1980. All but First are making their worldwide CD debuts.

Fronted by Mark Farner & Don Brewer, Grand Funk Railroad was one of the most successful rock groups of the 1970’s. After nearly a decade with Capitol Records, they switched over to the Warner offshoot, Full Moon Records for two albums, 'Grand Funk Lives' & 'What’s Funk'? Released on CD for only a short time by the band themselves, these fine albums finally are available everywhere through Wounded Bird.

Mark Farner is best known as the guitarist for Grand Funk Railroad. Once that group broke up, he issued two solo albums. The eponymous 'Mark Farner' was issued in 1977 and features Dick Wagner. 'No Frills' was issued in 1978. Both make their worldwide CD debuts here.

Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar is best known as a studio guitarist extraordinaire who has played on countless albums. He has also issued a few solo albums. 'Kootch' has only been available as a high price Japanese import.

Larry Graham was an original member of Sly & the Family Stone. He left that group in 1972 to form Graham Central Station. They released numerous albums through the 1970s & early 1980s. One that has been available only as a high priced Japanese import is Star Walk. This album reached #136 on the Billboard charts in 1979.

In the mid-70's, jazz saxophonist Tom Scott issued a few great jazz-fusion albums with his backup group L.A. Express. In 1976 the group split from Tom and issued two excellent albums on the Caribou label. The self titled L.A. Express features Robben Ford on guitar. Shadow Play features Peter Maunu on guitar, plus a guest appearance by Joni Mitchell (probably because they were her backup band during this period). Both albums feature keyboardist Victor Feldman. Both of these albums are making their worldwide CD debuts!

Our Mason Proffit catalog has been one of our most successful catalogs. There was only one left to put out, Come & Gone. This double album is actually a combination of their first two albums, Wanted & Movin' Toward Happiness, with all new artwork.

Jeff Lorber is one of the top jazz-fusion keyboard players of the late 70s & early 80s. He had numerous jazz albums that made the regular Billboard album charts. All of these albums, originally on the Arista label, will be reissued soon by Wounded Bird, most with bonus tracks. First up though, is his last charting album, Private Passion, originally on the Warner Brothers label. Our CD reissue features two rare bonus tracks. The album also features his one top 40 hit, "Facts Of Love", featuring Karyn White on vocals.

Daryl Hall & John Oates is one of the most successful duos in pop music. They have had numerous top charting albums. Their second album, War Babies, has only been available as a high priced import CD. The album reached #86 on the Billboard charts in 1974. Produced by Todd Rundgren, who also plays guitar & provided background vocals.

The Searchers were at the forefront of the 60s "British Invasion," having loads of top 40 hit singles & numerous albums. Only their loyal fans probably realize they continued as a group & issued two fine albums in the early 1980s, Love's Melodies & the eponymous The Searchers. Sixwire are best known for their appearances on the recent Fox TV show, The Next Great American Band. They ended up coming in second and built a whole new fan base. This album originally came out in 2002 but was soon out of print. Now with this new exposure fans are screamin' for this CD! They are a country/rock band who compare themselves to the Eagles and the Doobie Brothers.

Jim Messina has had a long history with music, being a member of both Buffalo Springfield & Poco. before becoming one half of the mega-duo Loggins & Messina, and then issuing just a few solo albums. 'Messina' was released in 1981 on the Warner Brothers label and has been long out of print. Wounded Bird brings it back in a remastered version. Yusef Lateef is one of the jazz greats! This eccentric sax/flute player issued numerous albums on the Atlantic label throughout the 1960s & 1970s. One that has never been out before is the 1975 live, double album, 10 Years Hence. His loyal legion of fans will want to complete their collection with this two record set now on one CD.

Lovecraft is actually the group H.P. Lovecraft, but after they first couple of albums they shortened their name to just Lovecraft. They also changed labels from Philips to Reprise. Valley Of The Moon is making its worldwide CD debut! It is a surprisingly good album mixing leftover psychedelica with good harmonies.

John Klemmer is another example of a jazz artist whose albums made the regular Billboard album charts. Hush reached # 99 in 1981. It features Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Harvey Mason & Russell Ferrante. It is making its worldwide CD debut. Solo Saxophone II - Life was also originally issued in 1981 & is also making its worldwide CD debut. Both albums were originally on Elektra Records.

Blondie Chaplin is best known as a sideman for The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones & The Band. He did put out one critically acclaimed solo album, the eponymous 'Blondie Chaplin.' It features Dave Mason, Garth Hudson & Ricky Fataar.

Arif Mardin is best known as one of the top producers for Atlantic Records, especially in the jazz division. Since he was also a musician, he self-indulged himself by putting out a couple of his own albums. Luckily he was able to enlist the services of a host of jazz luminaries. This album features the likes of Billy Cobham, Gary Burton, Hubert Laws, Ron Carter, Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, Joe Farrell and the list goes on and on.

Roger was the leader of the group Zapp. He also issued a number of charting solo albums. One that has never been on CD before is The Saga Continues. It was originally issued in 1984 on Warner Brothers Records & reached # 64 on the Billboard charts.

Lulu is probably best known for her # 1 hit "To Sir With Love". This two-fer features that album, linked up with It's Lulu, which is making its worldwide CD debut here. Also contains six bonus tracks!

Tough to describe Modern Romance - a British '80s pop group with dance, salsa & mambo influences. They had a handful of albums in the 1980s, their most famous was probably 'Adventures In Clubland'. This group still has a cult following that will scarf this one up. First time on CD anywhere!

Baton Rouge was a hard rock outfit from New Orleans who had a couple of fine albums on Atlantic Records in the early 1990s. They have been out of print for a long time now and fans still want these CDs. Shake Your Soul was originally issued in 1990 & reached # 160 on the Billboard charts. Lights Out On The Playground was originally issued in 1991.

Icon was a hard rock group from Phoenix, that had a couple of fine albums in the mid-1980's. Their Right Between The Eyes CD, originally on the Atlantic label in 1989, is going for big bucks on E-Bay, so we now bring it back out at a great price.

Tangier was a rock group from Philadelphia that issued two fine albums on Atlantic Records in 1989 & 1991. Four Winds reached # 91 on the Billboard charts in 1989. Stranded reached # 187 on the Billboard charts in 1991. Both of these albums have been long out of print.

Jenny Burton was a dance/R&B singer from the early 1980s who issued numerous albums on Atlantic Records. Her biggest charting album was In Black And White. It is making its worldwide CD debut.

Jesse Ed Davis first came to the music world's attention as the guitarist for Taj Mahal. In the late sixties he broke out on his own and issued some fine solo albums. We already issued his first two, "Jesse Davis" & "Ululu" as a two-on-one CD. It sold great! So now we proudly present his third album, Keep Me Comin'. This album was originally released on Epic Records in 1973. The album came with a bonus 45 that contained a Jesse Ed Davis interview. We have added that interview to this CD as a bonus track. This release marks the worldwide CD debut of this fine album.

Liverpool's Wild Swans' sound has been compared to both U2 and XTC. Their unique sound has fueled their loyal fan base who keep screamin' for their albums to come back out on CD. Bringing Home the Ashes was originally issued on Sire Records in 1988. Space Flower was also issued by Sire Records in 1990.

The nucleus of Squeeze consisted of Chris Difford & Glenn Tilbrook. This UK pop-rock group had numerous charting albums in the 1980s and early 90s. Almost all of their albums were on A&M Records & are all still in print. One album that has been out of print for a long time is their one Warner Brothers album, Play. Due to popular demand, we now bring this back to the fold. Guests on this album include Bruce Hornsby, Steve Nieve, Michael Penn, and from Spinal Tap, Michael McKean & Christopher Guest.

Jay McShann was a jazz piano veteran, who was making music as far back as 1931. He recently passed away in 2006. He didn't make that many albums, but one of his most notable was 'The Big Apple Bash' released in 1979. It features John Scofield, Herbie Mann, Gerry Mulligan, Janis Siegel & Eddie Gomez.

Boozoo Chavis was one of the early pioneers of Zydeco music. He only recorded a handful of albums do to his distrust of the music industry. His self titled album, Boozoo Chavis, originally came out on the Elektra offshoot label, American Explorer, in 1991. It has been out of print for years now but fans are still clamoring for this CD.

Even a dipshine should know who George Benson is. He is one of the leading jazz and R&B artists of the last 40 years!! He has had countless top charting albums. Tenderly originally came out in 1989 & reached # 140 on the Billboard charts. Love Remembers came out in 1993. Big Boss Band came out in 1990. It features the Count Basie Orchestra.

The Mighty Sparrow is known as one of the Caribbean's most successful calypso artists. He has made a whole host of albums from the 1950s all the way up to present day, mostly for small independent labels. He did make one album for Warner Brothers Records in 1974, 'Hot And Sweet', which Wounded Bird presents here with the original WB artwork.

Eric Weisburg is a bluegrass guitarist who is best known for the Dueling Banjos theme from the movie Deliverance. Once that was a big hit, he issued a follow-up album of bluegrass music, Rural Free Delivery, with his backup group Deliverance. This album was release on CD only for a short time as a rare Japanese import.

The Judybats were an alternative folk-rock group out of Tennessee, who had a few choice albums in the 1990s on Sire Records. They have a loyal fan base that keeps asking for the reissue of what is arguably their best album, Native Son.

Urban Verbs was a new wave rock group in the vain of Talking Heads. Their lead singer was Roddy Frantz, brother of Talking Heads drummer Chris Frantz. They recorded two albums in the 1980s. 'Early Damage', their second album from 1981, makes its worldwide CD debut here.

Wrathchild America was a hard rock group out of Baltimore, featuring bassist Brad Divens, also of the group Kix. They issued two albums on Atlantic Records in the late 1980s. Climbin' The Walls hit # 190 on the Billboard album charts. It has been out of print for years. We now bring it back for their hard-core fans.

Hericane Alice was a metal group who only issued one coveted album in 1990. It has been out of print for years and brings a hefty price on E-Bay. We how bring it back out at an excellent price!

The Scottish group eugenius were a spin-off of the group The Vaselines. They issued two albums on the Atlantic label in the 1990s. Mary Queen Of Scots originally came out in 1994 and has been out of print for years.
