Wounded Bird Records was formed in 1998 as a label that specializes in the reissue of albums from the 60's, 70's and early 80's on compact disc. All of their releases are properly licensed from the owner of the original masters, in most cases the original record label and sometimes the artists themselves. They strive to reproduce the original album cover artwork, converted to accommodate the CD size format.

Jon Lord, who was one of the founding members of Deep Purple, collaborated with Tony Ashton on this album during a break from Deep Purple touring in '74. They then played the project live at the London Palladium later that year while the BBC captured another London performance. A rockin' mixture of boogie woogie, and rhythm & blues, complete with Hammond organ, the album also featured guest musicians Ron Wood, Cozy Powell, Peter Frampton, Mick Grabham & Doris Troy.

Originally called Hot Sh*t, this Jefferson Airplane spin-off band, first formed in 1960 by charter members guitarist and co-founder Jorma Kaukonen & bassist Jack Casady, went on to become one of the most popular touring acts of the '70s. The band also featured harmonica player Will Scarlet with Airplane members Marty Balin and Spencer Dryden, violinist Papa John Creach and drummer Sammy Piazza and others joining them on occasion. Their second album, "First Pull Up-Then Pull Down" reached # 43 on the Billboard charts when originally issued on vinyl in 1971. Compared to their first album of live acoustic blues and ragtime, this one was far more rock inspired with the help of violinist Papa John Creach and drummer Sammy Piazza. Final Vinyl, a "best of" compilation, was originally issued in 1979 and includes both studio and live recordings of songs like "Hesitation Blues (Live)," "Keep On Truckin'," "Hot Jelly Roll Blues" and "I Wish You Would (Live)."

The nucleus of Tribal Tech consists of guitarist Scott Henderson & bassist Gary Willis. This duo has been at the forefront of jazz-fusion for the last two decades. "Primal Tracks" is comprised of tracks from three early works by Tribal Tech, "Nomad," "Tribal Tech" & "Dr. Hee." Jazz-fusion guitar playing at its best!

One of the first jazz-rock fusion groups, this collaboration between jazz flautist Jeremy Steig, bassist Eddie Gomez and keyboardist Warren Bernhardt featured elements of '60s psychedelic rock combined with free form jazz. They issued just this one album on Reprise Records in 1968 before going their separate ways and eventually making names for themselves in the world of jazz. First time on CD!

This rock supergroup featured singer Miller Anderson of the Keef Hartley band along with One in a Million, Thunderclap Newman, and Stone the Crows (second line-up) guitarist Jimmy McCulloch, keyboard player Ronnie Leahy (Stone The Crows, Jack Bruce, Jon Anderson, and Nazareth) and bassist Charlie Tumahai. They issued just this one album in 1979 on Warner Brothers Records, which has been widely sought by collectors and is available here for the first time on CD!

Twin singer-songwriter duo Ernie & Earl Cate made a name for themselves in the mid '60s when they brought their blend of bluesy and soulful country-rock to venues across the South. Early contemporaries of Ronnie Hawkins and Levon Helm, they were signed to Asylum Records in 1975, recording these four albums that showcase their expert musicianship and prolific songwriting. This 1975 debut self-titled album was produced by guitarist Steve Cropper, who also appeared on the record along with Levon Helm, Donald "Duck" Dunn and Poco bass guitarist Timothy B. Schmit, who later joined the Eagles. The album reached the Billboard charts. Also produced by Steve Cropper, their second album on Asylum from 1976, In One Eye & Out the Other, features 10 songs including "Start All Over Again," "Travelin' Man" and "Music Making Machine." Their third Asylum album from 1977, The Cate Brothers Band, includes the tracks "Stanger At The Door", "Let It Slide" and "Give Me A Reason." The brothers' fourth and final album from 1979 'Fire on the Tracks' reached number 24 on the album rock charts and featured their hit single "Union Man," its popularity spurred by a previous performance on the Austin City Limits TV show.

The first time on CD for this rare album from the early '70s from San Francisco based psychedelic blues-rock band, Aum who were part of a Columbia Records offshoot label Fillmore Records, based on performers who were regulars at the legendary Fillmore Auditorium in SF.

This folk-rock singer had a huge following in the mid-west in the early '70s, when he issued these three albums on the Roulette label, all of which are now making their worldwide CD debuts. Originally issued in 1970, Roots & Branches is an unusual mixture of folk-rock, soul and country and includes the tracks "A Small Brown Baby," "Silent Scream" and "Fire Island Saturday." Originally issued in 1971 on the Roulette label, Another Shade Of Black includes "Colorado Sweet," "Keep Yourself Together" and "For All The Ladies." Along with the title track of Would You Understand My Nakedness?, this album includes "My Daddy Gave Me Wings Of Wax," "A Lady Like You" and "Cotton Candy Lady."

Cross Country was formed in 1973 by three fourths of The Tokens - Jay Siegel and brothers Mitch & Phil Margo who issued just this one self-titled album on Atco Records, which is available here for the first time on CD.

The brainchild of guitarist Frank Carillo, this frequent Led Zeppelin opening band issued two albums on Atlantic Records in the late '70s, both of which are making their debut on CD here.

This acoustic, modern jazz guitarist had numerous Billboard charting albums for two decades from the mid 1970s through the mid 1990s. This soundtrack to the film "Just Between Friends" has never before been issued on CD and features musicians Don Grusin, Carlos Rios & Harvey Mason.

A CD debut for the one and only album from these Boston new wavers, who were lead by talented vocalist and guitarist Steve Cataldo. Released in 1980 on Elektra, the album featured all original tracks by Cataldo including "Loretta," "By Yourself," "Walkout" and "Get Stuffed." Jonathan Paley had just joined the band and appears on the album along with guest appearances from his brother Andy, Rolling Stones keyboard player Nicky Hopkins, and legendary guitarist Steve Cropper on the song "No Time."

This short-lived alternative, goth inspired trio trio featured ex-Killing Joke bassist Youth, guitarist Jimmy Cauty (Zodiac Mindwarp, Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, The KLF and The Orb) and vocalist June Montana (The Dream Academy). This, their only album, originally issued in 1985 on Atlantic includes their UK hit "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" (the James Brown cover) and their US club hit "Somebody."

Nile Rodgers was one of the founding fathers of the band Chic, along with Bernie Edwards. He issued the long sought after 'Adventures In The Land Of The Good Groove' in 1983 on Atlantic Records, which appears here for the first time on CD. Featuring on this album are Sarah Dash, Rachel Sweet, Fonzi Thornton & the aforementioned Bernie Edwards.

Pop-Soul duo Peaches & Herb had numerous hit singles & hit albums from the mid '60s through the '70s and are of course known for the mega hit "Reunited." These Date Records compilations from the late '60s are released here for the first time on CD. Golden Duets was originally released on Date Records in 1968. It features "Love Is Strange" and "Let It Be Me." This compilation is making its worldwide CD debut. Also the first time on CD for the compilation, Greatest Hits, that was originally released on Date Records in 1968. It features "Love Is Strange" and "Close Your Eyes."

This contemporary rock-gospel group lead by singers Gloria Giano & Marty Rodgers, released these two albums in the early '70s, both available for the first time on CD. Originally issued in 1971, this self-titled album includes the songs "Too Many People," "Lullabye" and "Everything Is For Now." The 1972 album, Next of Kin, includes "Movin' On," "Music In Your Heart" and "Better Get Small."

The 1982 Warner Bros. release from this 10 piece Rockin' Soul band that are renowned for their jumpin' live performances.

Formed in Italy and then based in New York, this early '80s Soul/Funk group was formed by producer Jacques Fred Petrus. "This Is Your Time" was their fourth album and their second on Atlantic, appearing here for the first time on CD!

Founded by King Raymond Green and discovered by Phillip Guilbeau this deep groovin' funk band released these three albums on Atlantic Records in the early to mid '70s. 'Black Heat' is a 1972 release that featured David "Fathead" Newman and includes tracks like "The Jungle," "Chicken Heads" and "Honey Love." No Time To Burn was originally issued in 1974 and includes their Billboard charting hit single "No Time To Burn" along with "Check It All Out," "Rapid Fire" and more. Keep On Runnin' was originally issued in 1975 and includes "Drive My Car," "Baby You'll See" and "Keep On Runnin'."

This soul vocal group from Detroit featured lead singer Bryan Banks, brother to Dramatics singer Ron Banks. These Elektra albums are available here for the first time on CD. This 1980 album, Special Edition, includes "Jam (Let's Take It To The Streets)," "Who You Been Lovin' ," and "Do Something Special (For Your Lady)." Five Special's third album from 1981, Trak'n, contains the songs 'Now and Then' and 'Spread Love (All Over The World).'

A rare solo album from this lead singer of British metal group Axe, originally released in 1986 on Atlantic Records and making its CD debut.

The first time on CD for this long sought after early '70s Elektra album from Canadian rockers Painter. Includes their hit "West Coast Woman." Guitarist Dan Lowe is credited with developing the QSound recording technology which was later used for recordings by Pink Floyd, Sting and others and is also used in cell phones.

Elektra Records originally released this two album set of this Ellie Greenwich & Michael Peter's 1985 Broadway show featuring the Original Broadway Cast and including a single disc "greatest hits" from that play - now both available on one CD. Greenslade was the brainchild of Dave Greenslade & Tony Reeves. Among the most difficult items of theirs to find are their 3rd & 4th albums, 'Spyglass Guest' and 'Time & Tide.' Wounded Bird now makes both of them readily available on CD. Released in 1974 & 1975 respectively, these are excellent progressive rock albums. They have a loyal legion of fans that will scarf these up fast.

Absolute Elsewhere's 'In Search Of Ancient Gods' was a onetime progressive rock effort by keyboardist Paul Fishman with excellent contributions from drummer Bill Bruford. The previously issued import version of this CD was mastered from vinyl & had lots of noise marring this quiet album. This CD is mastered from the original master tapes & has never sounded better!

Barry Miles is a fusion-jazz keyboardist who has worked with many of the top fusion musicians, including Al Di Meola & Miles Davis. He has issued a handful of solo albums over the years, almost all of which are still unavailable on CD. Wounded Bird now presents 'Sky Train,' originally released on RCA Records in 1977, for the first time on compact disc. It features Eric Kloss, Anthony Jackson & Randy Brecker. The album also features the 20 minute epic "Cityscape (The Fusion Suite).

Matrix was a unique fusion-jazz horn band. They issued two highly regarded albums in the late 1970s on Warner Brothers Records. These long sought after albums are now making their worldwide CD debuts. Wizard' was originally issued in 1978. 'Tale Of The Whale' was originally issued in 1979.

The Ship issued just one album on Elektra Records in 1972. It was a concept album, truly "A Contemporary Folk Music Journey." The songs on this album flow together smoothly as if it was one master presentation. This long coveted album has been a collector's item whenever you can find it. Wounded Bird now proudly presents it on CD for the first time anywhere!

Timber was one of those early 1970s Elektra Records groups, from the tail end of the psychedelic era. They issued just one album on Elektra, "Bring America Home." Appearing for the first time anywhere on CD, this release features 3 rare singles as bonus tracks. The artwork contains both the U.S. and U.K. album cover images. Wayne Berry was a member of this group.

Wildlife was part of Led Zeppelin's Swan Song roster. They only issued one album, the self titled "Wildlife" in 1983. It was produced by Mick Ralphs of Bad Company fame. Fans have been screaming for this album for years! It is now making its worldwide CD debut!

Girl's Can't Help It was one of the many girl groups making the new wave scene in the early 1980s. Hailing from Britain, they have been compared to Bananarama, Mary Jane Girls & Vanity 6. They recorded only one project, 'Pure Wild.' Originally issued in 1983 on Warner Brothers Records, they have this small cult following who keep asking for this to finally be issued on CD.

Ohio Express was one of the premier bubblegum groups presented by the Buddah label in the late-1960s. They had two charting albums, the eponymous "Ohio Express" and "Chewy, Chewy." This two-on-one CD contains three of their biggest hits, "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy," "Down At Lulu's" and "Chewy, Chewy."

Jan Akkerman is one of the premier guitarists in rock, starting out with the group Focus, and issuing numerous critically acclaimed solo albums. Candi Staton was an R&B singer who issued a handful of high class albums in the 1970s on Warner Brothers Records. Chance hit the Billboard charts in the summer of 1979. It features Cornell Dupree, Hiram Bullock, Randy Brecker & Michael Brecker.

Ace Spectrum was an R&B group out of New York City, who released a few albums on the Atlantic label in the mid-1970s. Inner Spectrum was originally issued on LP in 1975, our CD has 3 bonus tracks. Low Rent Rendezvous was originally issued on LP in 1975 & is making its worldwide CD debut. Just Like In The Movies was originally issued on LP in 1976 & is also making its worldwide CD debut.

Irene Cara is best known for her appearance in the movie "Fame", singing the title track. She has issued only a few albums over the years. 'Carasmatic' was originally issued in 1987 on Elektra Records. It features Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, Luther Vandross, James Ingram, George Duke, Harvey Mason, Patrice Rushen, and Jim Keltner.

Belle Epoque was a female disco trio from Paris, France. They had a hit single with the song 'Miss Broadway' in 1978. They also issued one album on the Big Tree label that same year. Their medley featuring 'Black Is Black' is really swingin'!

Esquivel is really hard to describe. His space aged pop/lounge music made a big resurgence in the 1990s. Our two-on-one CD reissue of both volumes of Infinity In Sound correct the flaws of the previous CD reissue. Ours contains all 24 tracks and in the correct playing sequence. His legion of fans will want to complete their collection with this CD.

Gary Burton is widely regarded as one of the top two vibes players in jazz (along side Milt Jackson). He issued numerous critically acclaimed albums on the Atlantic label in the 1970s. Turn Of The Century is a "best of" collection of his finest Atlantic recordings, originally issued as a two record set in 1976. Dave Loggins, the cousin of Kenny Loggins, was a pop-country singer who had a number of highly sought after albums on the Epic label in the mid-1970's. Wounded Bird now presents three of those for the first time on compact disc. "Country Suite" was originally issued in 1976. "David Loggins" was originally issued in 1977. "One Way Ticket To Paradise" was originally issued in 1977.

Kenny Loggins is widely known as one half of the duo Loggins & Messina. When he went solo in 1977, he issued a host of top selling albums. Keep The Fire was originally released in 1979 & reached # 16 on the Billboard charts. Vox Humana was originally issued in 1985 & reached # 41. Keep The Fire features two live bonus tracks. Vox Humana features two rare bonus tracks from the Caddyshack soundtrack.

First U.S. release on CD for this live album, the final album from this duo's five-year partnership, originally released as a double LP in 1977. This album was previously only available as an expensive two CD set from Japan. We have now fit it onto a single disc. Reaching #83 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart, Finale sees Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina dipping into their classic recorded output and performing hits and album favorites to an adoring crowd.

First time on CD for this often overlooked Loggins & Messina album from 1975. Previously only available as an expensive Japanese import, our CD reissue features two bonus tracks. It reached #21 on the Billboard Albums Chart and #49 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. They did unique cover versions of many classic songs on this CD.

Jeff Lorber is one of the top jazz-fusion keyboard players of the late '70s & early '80s with numerous jazz albums that made the regular Billboard album charts. He still makes albums and even recently won a Grammy. His very first two albums were originally on the Inner City label in 1977 and have never been issued on CD anywhere in the world until now. 'Jeff Lorber Fusion' came first, and features an extra track, "Poppin' " 'Soft Space' was next & features guest appearances by Chick Corea & Joe Farrell

Jeff Lorber is one of the top jazz-fusion keyboard players of the late 70s & early 80s. He had numerous jazz albums that made the regular Billboard album charts. Jakob Magnusson is a little known European jazz fusion keyboard player. What's significant about this album are the guest musicians. Carlos Rios, Michal Urbaniak, Tom Scott, Jeff Baxter, Ernie Watts, Peter Banks, Joe Farell, Richard Green, Victor Feldman, just to name a few. This album is making its worldwide CD debut.

Our Mason Proffit catalog has been one of our most successful catalogs. There was only one left to put out, Come & Gone. This double album is actually a combination of their first two albums, Wanted & Movin' Toward Happiness, with all new artwork.

Jim Messina has had a long history with music, being a member of both Buffalo Springfield & Poco. before becoming one half of the mega-duo Loggins & Messina, and then issuing just a few solo albums. 'Messina' was released in 1981 on the Warner Brothers label and has been long out of print. Wounded Bird brings it back in a remastered version. 'One More Mile' was released in 1983 on the Warner Brothers label and has been long out of print. Wounded Bird brings it back in a remastered version.

The Modern Jazz Quartet has been one of the leaders in the jazz field for decades, from the 1950s through the 1990s. Fans kept asking Wounded Bird to issue "The Legendary Profile" on CD so they decided to help them out.

Steve Morse started his career as the lead guitarist for the Dixie Dregs. He then formed the Steve Morse Band which is a high energy fusion-rock band featuring Steve's intense guitar playing. Stand Up was originally released on LP in 1985. It features guest artists Eric Johnson, Peter Frampton, T. Lavitz, Albert Lee & Mark O'Connor.

Mott The Hoople was a sort of glitter-rock group from England who had numerous charting albums in the 1970s. One that has been long out of print is "Shouting & Pointing." This CD reissue contains one bonus track, the Eddie Kramer-Electric Lady Mix of "Too Short Arms (I Don't Care)."

Mountain was the brainchild of Leslie West, Felix Pappalardi & Corky Laing. They released a handful of popular albums on the Windfall label in the early 1970s. One of those is their Live album, subtitled "The Road Goes Ever On." It reached # 63 on the Billboard charts in 1972 and contains four long tracks including the seventeen minute "Nantucket Sleighride."

The question is, is Mark O'Connor jazz or country? Probably a little bit of both. This is the first album he did for Warner Brothers Records after a stint with Rounder Records. It is making its worldwide CD debut. Mark O'Connor is also well known as a one time member of the Dixie Dregs being prominently featured on Industry Standard, another Wounded Bird release.

Pacific Gas & Electric was a blues/rock group out of California who had a number of charting albums in the late 1960's/early 1970's. The group was headed up by vocalist Charlie Allen. Wounded Bird proudly presents this previously unreleased live album from Charlie Allen and friends, originally scheduled for release by Columbia in 1970 but never saw the light of day…until now! The rumors of the existence of this album have been a topic of conversation by their fans for decades. The rumors can now be put to rest. Features nine tracks including 'Motor City Is Burning', 'One More River To Cross' and 'Are You Ready?' And coming soon from Pacific Gas & Electric: PG&E.

Pacific Gas & Electric was a blues/rock group out of California who had a number of charting albums in the late 1960's-early 1970's. The group was headed up by vocalist Charlie Allen. Originally hitting the charts in 1971, "PG&E" is making its worldwide CD debut.

Passport, the eponymous debut album from 1972 for the Klaus Doldinger headed jazz-funk project. On CD for the first time! Second Passport is the second album from 1972. From 1973, Hand Made is the third album from Passport and makes it's CD debut here. First time on CD for the Doldinger Jubilee Concert which features Brian Auger, Johnny Griffin & Alexis Korner. Back to Brazil, Passport's 2003 album includes two bonus tracks.

Passport is the premier jazz/fusion group to come out of Europe. The leader of the group is Klaus Doldinger who appears an all of their albums. Extgremely prolific, they have released over 20 albums since the early 1970's. Wounded Bird will be releasing eleven of their albums, all of them making their U. S. CD debuts. Infinity Machine and Man in the Mirror are the third and fourth Wounded Bird Passport releases.

Wounded Bird Records presents the next 3 in a series of CD reissues by the German jazz-fusion group Passport. For two decades, from the early 70's through the early 90's, they were the premier jazz-fusion group to come out of Europe. The leader of Passport was Klaus Doldinger, appearing on all of their albums. Passport released over 15 albums in the U.S. over that time, eleven of which never were issued on CD in the U.S. Wounded Bird now proceeds to issue all eleven of those albums on CD throughout the year 2001. Garden Of Eden was originally issued in 1979. The Doldinger Jubilee '75 album is particularly interesting as it was a special concert that featured guest appearances by Buddy Guy, Les McCann, Philip Catherine & Johnny Griffin. Doldinger Jubilee '75 was originally issued in 1975.

First time on CD for this brilliant debut by the New York new wave band. Produced by Phillip Glass, this eclectic 1980 effort garnered the band excellent reviews and plenty of airplay on Alternative and College Radio as well as fledgling video shows (pre-MTV). The double A-side single 'Your Dragging Feet' and 'Romantic Me' reached #69 on the Billboard Club Play Singles charts.

Jean-Luc Ponty has been the premier jazz violinist of the past 3 decades. He is one of the few jazz musicians to have numerous albums make the Billboard charts, 12 of them to be exact. Of his extensive catalog on Atlantic Records, only one of those albums has never made it to CD, until now! Live was originally issued in 1979 and rose to # 68 on the charts. Tangerine Dream was a German synthesizer outfit formed in 1967 by Edgar Froese. They have issued a host of albums throughout the 80's & 90's. One of those albums was the soundtrack to the movie Thief. This was their second highest charting album, released in 1981. Our CD re-issue is the U.S. soundtrack version and contains a track not on the import version, 'Confrontation.' Avid Tangerine Dream fans have been clamoring for this track. Isao Tomita is a classical keyboardist, who overwhelmed the electronic music field in the 1970s with a bunch of albums to make the Billboard charts. These albums are electronic interpretations of well known works of popular classical composers. The only one of his albums to not be issued on CD in the US is Ravel's Bolero. We now proudly present that album on CD! This album made the Billboard charts in February of 1980.

Legendary electronic composer Edgar Varese has a cult following and had a profound impact on a young Frank Zappa. Recordings of his works are far and few between. Conductor Robert Craft recorded two albums of his works for Columbia Records in the 1960's. Those two albums were then issued in a two record set called "The Varese Album". We now present this two record set as a two CD set. This is the worldwide CD debut for this album.

Miroslav Vitous is best know as one of the foremost young bassists in the jazz-rock movement of the late 60's and early 70's. He was a founding member of Weather Report and made numerous solo albums.
