Wounded Bird Records was formed in 1998 as a label that specializes in the reissue of albums from the 60's, 70's and early 80's on compact disc. All of their releases are properly licensed from the owner of the original masters, in most cases the original record label and sometimes the artists themselves. They strive to reproduce the original album cover artwork, converted to accommodate the CD size format.

Rocket 88 was a supergroup of sorts, featuring Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, Cream bassist Jack Bruce, along with Ian Stewart, Alexis Korner & Bob Hall. This live recording is a kind of mini-big band jam session, and is making its worldwide CD debut.

In 1973 & 1974, Three Man Army issued two swingin' albums on the Warner Brothers label. Formed by Paul & Adrian Gurvitz, along with Tony Newman, this band has a cult following. These hard to find collector's albums now make great CDs.

A Foot In Cold Water was a Canadian progressive rock group that issued a handful of albums in the early 1970s. One of these, issued on Elektra Records in 1974, was the only album to get a foothold in the U.S. Previously only available as a hard to find Canadian import, Wounded Bird now makes it available.

Zager & Evans had a # 1 hit with "In The Year 2525" in 1969. The album containing that hit, '2525 (Exordium & Terminus)', reached # 120 on the Billboard charts that same year. Wounded Bird has combined that album with their second eponymous album, 'Zager & Evans'

Stuff was a funk super-group featuring Cornell Dupree, Eric Gale, Richard Tee & Steve Gadd. This rare live album, released only in Japan in 1978 is making its worldwide CD debut. Fans are going to flip their wigs!

Cornell Dupree was one of the premier session guitarists of the 1970s & 1980s. He was also a member of the jazz-funk supergroup Stuff. He only had a few solo albums to his name. 'Teasin'' was his very first, being issued on Atlantic Records in 1973, and features David "Fathead" Newman, Joe Farrell, Ralph MacDonald, Seldon Powell, Chuck Rainey, Jon Faddis, Richard Tee and many more. This blues-jazz-funk album has been available only as a high price Japanese import.

Memphis Slim, aka Peter Chapman, ranks among the greatest blues piano players of all time. That along with his unique voice sets him apart from most of his contemporaries. He has been very prolific, but one of his hardest to find albums is 'Legend Of The Blues, Vol. 1', originally issued on the Jubilee label in 1967. Wounded Bird finally brings this hard to find collector's item to the CD world, taken from the master tapes.

Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee/Folk Songs Of Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee ....CD $11.99

Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee were a prolific blues duo for decades. One of their hardest to find albums is 'Folk Songs Of Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee'. It was originally issued on the Roulette label in 1959. Now mastered from the original tapes, and using the original album cover artwork.

Joachim Kuhn has been at the forefront of fusion-jazz keyboard playing, releasing numerous acclaimed albums in the 1970s on Atlantic Records. 'Springfever' makes its CD debut here and features guitarist Philip Catherine, bassist John Lee & drummer Gerald Brown.

The Rainbow Band was an early 70s Elektra album, but with a big Indian influence. Guest musicians include Oregon's Colin Wolcott & Darius Brubeck. The vinyl of this album goes for big bucks so fans can finally get this on CD for the first time anywhere.

Allan Clarke was one of the original members of The Hollies. He has had numerous solo albums over the years, one of the hardest to find being 'Legendary Heroes'. Originally issued in 1980 on Elektra Records, it features a guest appearance by Billy Thorpe and is making its CD debut.

King Curtis was an R&B saxophonist who had numerous charting albums in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was tragically stabbed to death in 1971 at the early age of 37. 'Instant Groove' reached # 160 on the Billboard album charts in 1969 and featured another great musician who died young, Duane Allman.

Lenny Williams is probably best known as the lead singer for Tower Of Power. He also issued a number of successful solo albums. One of his best is his very first solo effort, 'Pray For The Lion'. Featured on this album is drummer extraordinaire, Lenny White and the very capable Dean Parks on guitar.

Charisma was an obscure psychedelic rock group from the late sixties that had two albums on the Roulette label. Those albums are hard to find high priced collector's items, never being issued on CD until now. The self titled 'Charisma' album was originally issued in 1969. 'Beasts And Fiends' was originally issued in 1970. Hard core collectors have been screamin' for their albums on CD and here they are, available at last.

Kensington Market was a Canadian psychedelic group that issued two albums on Warner Brothers Records in the late 1960s. 'Avenue Road' came out in 1968 and 'Aardvark' followed in 1969. These albums have been regarded by some as lost gems. Wounded Bird's remastered versions include the original album cover artwork.

Wild Horses features Rick Stier & James Kollak from the group Kingdom Come. Originally issued on Atlantic Records, this 1991 hard rock CD has been out of print for years and fans have been clamoring for its reissue.

Don Cooper was an obscure but very capable folk singer from the early 1970s. He had a number of great albums on the Roulette label. One of these, 'Bless The Children', had quite a following in selected regions of the country. It features guitarist Elliot Randall. It is now making its worldwide CD debut!

Peter Schilling is probably best known for his new wave hit "Major Tom" from the album 'Error In The System' which got all the way up to # 61 on the Billboard charts in 1983. This unique two-fer also includes the German version of this album, 'Fehler Im System'.

Teegarden & Van Winkle were a duo who issued two hard to find albums on the Atco label in 1969 and 1970. 'An Evening At Home With'' was first, followed by 'But Anyhow'. The duo consisted of David Teegarden & Skip Knape. Teegarden later went on to work with Bob Seger. Fans have been waiting for years for these albums to be issued on CD. They are both making their worldwide CD debuts.

Roger Tillison made this one album for Atlantic Records in 1971. Music aficionados will want this bluesy gem for the fine music and the guest musicians which include Jesse Ed Davis, Jim Keltner & Larry Knechtel. This CD has only been available as a high priced Japanese import.

The New Seekers had a few charting albums on the Elektra label in the early 1970s. Wounded Bird has combined two of them for this exciting two-fer. 'Beautiful People' reached # 136 on the Billboard charts in 1971. 'Circles' reached # 166 in 1972. This 2-on-1 CD features the hit song "Look What They've Done To My Song Ma".

Farquahr was an album from 1970 on Elektra Records featuring the Farquahr brothers, Barnswallow, Flamingo & Hummingbird. This album also features Eric Weissberg. It is making its worldwide CD debut and will appeal to those collectors of the early Elektra Records catalog from the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Clarence Wheeler is a jazz trumpet player who issued three albums on the Atlantic label in the early 1970s. This is one of those albums and it has never been issued on CD before. As much a blues album as it is a jazz album, it featuring blues superstars Buddy Guy & Junior Wells!

Bud Powell was one of the true giants of the jazz piano. He made numerous albums in the first half of the 20th century. 'Bud Powell In Paris' was one of the last recordings he ever made, being released on Reprise Records in 1964. It has been available only as a hard to find import.

Red Rodney was a veteran jazz trumpet player who played with Charlie Parker. Ira Sullivan who plays trumpet and sax, is also a jazz veteran. In 1981 they got together and recorded two great albums for the Elektra/Musician label, 'Spirit Within and Sprint'. This fine quintet also features Garry Dial and Jay Anderson.

Joe Albany was a legendary jazz pianist, having played with Charlie Parker in the 1940s. His rare recordings have been few and far between, with 'Portrait Of An Artist' being his very last recording. It was originally issued on the Elektra/Musician label in 1982. Here it is making its worldwide CD debut.

The Assembled Multitude was a studio group that did instrumental versions of hits from the late '60s and early '70s. They had a hit off of this album with their version of The Who's "Overture From Tommy". It reached # 16 on the Billboard charts. This album was originally issued in 1970 on Atco Records and is making its CD debut.

From the mid-'70s through today, Patti Austin has issued a slew of excellent jazz tinged R&B albums on a variety of labels. One that has been extremely hard to find on CD is 'Gettin' Away With Murder'. Originally issued in 1985 on Warner Brothers Records, it reached # 185 on the Billboard charts. It features a host of fine musicians, including Jeff Lorber, The Brecker Brothers, Ralph MacDonald, Dan Hartman, Billy Joel, Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross & Jocelyn Brown.

Jubal was a country rock group from the early 1970s on Elektra Records. It features Dennis Linde who wrote "Burning Love" for Elvis Presley and "Goodbye Earl" for the Dixie Chicks. This album from 1972 is making its worldwide CD debut and will appeal to those collectors of the early Elektra Records catalog from the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Show Of Hands was another one of those early '70s rock groups on Elektra Records. Their 'Formerly Anthrax' album is a hard to find collector's item.

The Quinaimes Band was one of those early 1970s Elektra groups that fans keep screaming for. This album, originally issued in 1971, has only been available as a high priced Japanese import CD.

Highway Chile was one of Holland's premier heavy metal bands of the early 1980s. 'Rockarama' was originally released in 1985 on Atlantic Records. They have maintained a loyal cult following who will be delighted with the release of this album on CD.

Sons Of Angels were a hard rock outfit who issued one sought after CD on Atlantic Records in 1990 that has been long out of print.

The Nitecaps were a new wave group from the 1980s that had one album on the Sire label. Fans keep asking for this great little album. It is making its worldwide CD debut.

Lisa Hartman is known a as a country singer, an actress and as the wife of country singer Clint Black. She has only issued a few albums over the years, but one of them, 'Til My Heart Stops', has been one of Wounded Bird's most requested CDs to bring back to the fold. It was originally issued on Atlantic Records in 1987.

Adrian Belew is best known as one of the guitarists from King Crimson. He has also issued numerous critically acclaimed solo albums. Wounded Bird has taken one of those, 'Young Lions,' and combined it with a rare EP issued from the same era, 'Pretty Pink Rose', to create a sort of two-fer.

Passport, the eponymous debut album from 1972 for the Klaus Doldinger headed jazz-funk project. On CD for the first time! Second Passport is the second album from 1972. From 1973, Hand Made is the third album from Passport and makes it's CD debut here. First time on CD for the Doldinger Jubilee Concert which features Brian Auger, Johnny Griffin & Alexis Korner. Back to Brazil, Passport's 2003 album includes two bonus tracks.

One could suggest that the names Klaus Doldinger & Passport could be synonymous, for they really are one and the same since he has been the driving force behind the group for almost four decades now. Lifelike, his album from 1980, featuring Herbie Mann, Etta James & Richard Tee is now available as a 2-CD set. His 1983 album, Constellation, is a showcase for Klaus Doldinger's talent and makes its debut here for the first time. The 2000 album, Passport Live, makes its debut here for the first time.

Stanley Clarke, Chick Corea & Lenny White have been top names in jazz for over three decades now as they comprise 3/4ths of Return To Forever, who just reunited for a nationwide tour. Freddie Hubbard & Joe Henderson have also been leaders in the jazz field for those same three decades. In 1982 these five musicians got together to record "The Griffith Park Collection" for Elektra's Musician label. This acoustic effort came across so well that they then recorded a live concert which was presented as a two-record set, "The Griffith Park Collection 2 - In Concert," which is presented here as a two CD set. Both of these albums are making their worldwide CD debuts.

Trapeze was a rock group from England featuring Glenn Hughes. They issued a number of classic albums in the mid '70s. Wounded Bird now combines two of those albums onto a single disc. 'Hot Wire' was originally issued in 1975 on Warner Brothers Records & was their highest charting album on the Billboard charts."Trapeze' followed a year later.

Heads Hands & Feet was a progressive rock band from the early '70s, fronted by guitarist extraordinaire Albert Lee. "Old Soldiers Never Die" was their second album, originally released on Atco Records in 1973.

Kenny Loggins is widely known as one half of the duo Loggins & Messina. When he went solo in 1977, he issued a host of top selling albums. Keep The Fire was originally released in 1979 & reached # 16 on the Billboard charts. Vox Humana was originally issued in 1985 & reached # 41. Keep The Fire features two live bonus tracks. Vox Humana features two rare bonus tracks from the Caddyshack soundtrack.

Chico Freeman is a jazz tenor saxophone player who has made many fine albums over the years. Two of those were on the Elektra/Musician label. ' Tradition In Transition' from 1982, features Jack DeJohnette. 'Tangents' from 1984, features Bobby McFerrin. Both make their CD debut here.

Four of many great albums originally issued on Alantic records in the 1970s by this jazz saxophonist. Gypsy Man features Stanley Clarke and Billy Cobham. Crawler may be more familiar to you as Back Street Crawler. They issued two albums on Atco Records under that name before shortening it to just Crawler and issuing two more albums on Epic Records. These albums have never been available on CD until now and each features one bonus track.

Russia & Force 10 are actually the same group under two different names. They issued the eponymous Russia album in 1980 and the self-titled Force 10 in 1981. Neither album charted but they garnered a loyal cult following that has been waiting for 27 years for these albums to finally come out on CD! These albums still sound great!

From '80s Danish hard rockers, D.A.D., this rare Japanese only album was previously issued as a high priced CD only in Japan for just a short time.

Five Special was an R&B vocal group from Detroit who issued a number of albums on the Elektra label in the late 1970s. Their self-titled album Five Special reached # 118 on the Billboard charts amd it makes its worldwide CD debut here.

Mama's Pride were a southern rock band, lead by brothers Danny & Pat Liston, in the style of The Allman Brothers Band with great blues jams. They issued two rockin' albums in the 1970s on Atlantic records. The eponymous Mama's Pride was originally issued in 1975. Uptown & Lowdown was originally issued in 1977. Both of these albums are making their worldwide CD debuts. Southern rock fans with eat these up!

Figures On A Beach were a late '80s dance pop band who had a few albums on Sire Records. This, their first album, is making its worldwide CD debut. It includes four bonus tracks from an EP released around the same time as this album, 1987.

Charlie Daniels is one of the superstars of country rock music. He has issued scores of top selling albums. The Te John, Grease & Wolfman album was originally issued in 1972. 'Uneasy Rider' is the Sony reissue of the Kama Sutra LP, 'Honey In The Rock' circa 1973. 'Whiskey' is the Sony reissue of the Kama Sutra LP, 'Way Down Yonder' from 1974. All three are long overdue for CD release.

Gary Wright is best known for his big hit 'Dream Weaver' and his stint with Spooky Tooth. 'The Light Of Smiles' was originally issued On Warner Brothers in 1977 & hit # 23 on the Billboard charts. Contains one bonus track. 'Touch And Gone' was originally issued On Warner Brothers in 1977 & hit # 117 on the Billboard charts. Contains two bonus tracks. 'Headin' Home' was originally issued On Warner Brothers in 1979 & hit # 147 on the Billboard charts. 'The Right Place' was originally issued On Warner Brothers in 1981 & hit # 79 on the Billboard charts. Contains six bonus tracks.

The question is, is Mark O'Connor jazz or country? Probably a little bit of both. This is the first album he did for Warner Brothers Records after a stint with Rounder Records. It is making its worldwide CD debut. Mark O'Connor is also well known as a one time member of the Dixie Dregs being prominently featured on Industry Standard, another Wounded Bird release.

Ron Carter is regarded as one of the greatest jazz bass players of all time. This album, Etudes, was originally issued 1983 on the Elektra/Musician label and features Bill Evans, Tony Williams & Art Farmer.

This mid '70s group out of Spain issued a number of albums on the Atco label. Their music was a mix of jazz, disco, pschyedelic & progressive rock, with a Latin tinge thrown in. This is their one Billboard charting album that reached # 149 in 1975.

Wally was a kind of obscure progressive rock group from the mid '70s who had a couple of albums on the Atlantic label. This self-titled album, co-produced by Rick Wakeman, was the only one released in the United States and is making its worldwide CD debut!

Wounded Bird's release of the Martha Velez album, Fiends & Angels, proved quite successful. So Wounded Bird now issues the remainder of this blues rocker's '70s albums. 'Matinee Weepers' originally came out in 1974. 'Escape from Babylon' originally came out in 1976 and features Bob Marley, Rita Marley, Lee Perry & Judy Mowatt. 'American Heartbeat' originally came out in 1977. All three make their worldwide CD debut here.

Bob Geldof has two big claims to fame. He was the leader of The Boomtown Rats and he was heavily involved in charity music organizations like Band Aid and Live Aid. His first solo album, 'Deep In The Heart Of Nowhere,' has been out of print for a long time and is now available again on Wounded Bird. Features Midge Ure, Brian Setzer and Eric Clapton and the title track features Annie Lennox, Maria Mckee and Allison Moyet on backing vocals.

Tom Scott has been one of the premier jazz sax players for decades, issuing loads of widely acclaimed albums. One album that has been out of print for years is 'Desire.' Originally issued on the Elektra/Musician label in 1982, it was one of those rare jazz albums that actually made the Billboard album charts. It features performances by Buzzy Feiten, Victor Feldman & Ernie Watts.

'Vapour Trails' was one of those jazzy rock albums from the late 1970s that just seemed to slip through the cracks. Produced by Larry Carlton, it features some guest performances by Bill Champlin, Mel Collins, Dave Benoit & Tom Scott.

Mr. Big was a rock group from San Francisco which featured Eric Martin & Billy Sheehan. They had a few high charting albums in the late '80s & early '90s and have also made a few albums that were released only in Japan. One of those was 'Live At Budokan' now available with this first time release in the United States.

Isao Tomita is a classical keyboardist, who overwhelmed the electronic music field in the 1970s with a bunch of albums to make the Billboard charts. These albums are electronic interpretations of well known works of popular classical composers. The only one of his albums to not be issued on CD in the US is Ravel's Bolero. We now proudly present that album on CD! This album made the Billboard charts in February of 1980.

Yusef Lateef is one of the jazz greats! This eccentric sax/flute player issued numerous albums on the Atlantic label throughout the 1960s & 1970s. Wounded Bird previously had issued his 1975 live double album, 10 Years Hence. We now present another one of his classics, The Gentle Giant. Although this album was issued on CD once before, it had a major flaw. For the song Hey Jude, they used a defective master, which had a big glitch at the ending. We have now corrected this and fans can get this song exactly the way it was on the original album release from 1972.

Jakob Magnusson is a little known European jazz fusion keyboard player. What's significant about this album are the guest musicians. Carlos Rios, Michal Urbaniak, Tom Scott, Jeff Baxter, Ernie Watts, Peter Banks, Joe Farell, Richard Green, Victor Feldman, just to name a few. This album is making its worldwide CD debut.

This is a long lost gem from 1968 by a little known, somewhat psychedelic group called Bo Grumpus. This album, originally issued on Atco Records, has never been issued on CD before and fans from this era have been asking for it.

Vinegar Joe was a rock group that issued two albums in the early 1970s. The lead singer of this group was Robert Palmer. Sharing vocals with him was Elkie Brook. This album has been a hard to find collector's item. We now present its CD debut. Guesting on this album is drummer Keef Hartley.

Wounded Bird's previous Commander Cody CDs sold like hotcakes out of a land office, so these two new CDs, which are making their worldwide CD debuts, should fly out the door. These two albums were originally issued on Arista Records. Flying Dreams originally came out in 1978. Rock 'N Roll Again hit # 163 on the Billboard charts in 1977 and contains a previously unreleased bonus track, "All For Love."

Don't confuse this Bill Evans with the jazz piano player Bill Evans, this is the fusion saxophone player who has recorded with Miles Davis, John McLaughlin and a host of other classic jazz artists. This fusion album from 1984, originally issued on Musician Records, features Mitch Foreman, Mark Egan & Danny Gottlieb. It is making its worldwide CD debut.

Fortress were part of the early 1980s hard rock/metal/hair band scene. They made one album for Atlantic Records, Hands In The Till. Fans have been screaming for this one, so here it is, making its worldwide CD debut.

Stardrive's Intergalactic Trot album is significant for it is one of the very first uses of the synthesizer as a full instrument. Considered experimental at the time, it is a curiosity item that collectors have been clamoring for. It headlines keyboardist Robert Mason, and features Michael Brecker & Steve Gadd. Originally issued on Elektra Records in 1973, it is now making its worldwide CD debut.

Earlier this year Wounded Bird released 5 Leon Russell albums that were originally on Paradise Records, two of those with his wife, Mary Russell. They now present Mary's solo album from that label, Heart Of Fire. It is making its worldwide CD debut and features Leon.

Kate Taylor is the younger sister of James Taylor, who plays on this album along with Linda Ronstadt, Carol King, J.D. Souther, Bernie Leadon, Danny Kortchmar, Merry Clayton, John Hartford, Peter Asher, Russ Kunkel & Lee Sklar. It reached number 88 on the Billboard charts when originally released in 1971 on Cotillion Records.

Geoff Muldaur may have been overshadowed by his former wife, Maria Muldaur. They made a few albums as a duo, then went their respective separate ways. Guesting on Motion are Dr. John, Jesse Ed Davis, Martin Mull, Cindy Bullens, Klaus Voorman, Jim Keltner, Jim Price & Bobby Keys. Maria does appear on Is Having A Wonderful Time, along with John Cale, Richard Thompson, Benny Carter, Joe Farrell, Merle Saunders & Ron Carter.

Stacy Lattisaw was an R&B singer from Washington D.C., who had numerous charting albums in the 1980s. One album that never made it to CD and fans keep asking for is I'm Not The Same Girl from 1985. We now gladly accommodate them with this worldwide CD debut!

The Del Fuegos were a rock group from Boston who had a few albums in the mid 1980s on Slash Records. Boston, Mass. hit the Billboard charts in 1985. Stand Up made the charts in 1987. The Longest Day was their first album and is making its worldwide CD debut.

Remastered and available for the first time on CD from Wounded Bird Records, Jan Akkerman is best known as the lead guitarist for Focus. Tabernakel has been one of his most sought after albums for CD re-issue. It is half acoustic and half electric. It features the 14-minute epic 'Lammy' which weaves many different styles into a suite of exciting music.

Jon Anderson is widely known as the lead singer for Yes. He has issued numerous solo albums over the years. Olias Of Sunhillow reached # 47 on the Billboard charts in 1976. Song Of Seven reached # 143 in 1980 & features Jack Bruce. These albums are making their U.S. CD debuts.

In 1972, the keyboardist for Yes, Tony Kaye, left to form his own group, Badger. Their first album, One Live Badger, was recorded live at the Rainbow Theatre. It was produced by the lead singer for Yes, Jon Anderson. The LP has been a high price collector's item for years and fans will scarf up this CD of fine progressive rock! It features a classic Roger Dean album cover design. The album hit the Billboard charts in 1973.

Reissue of this 1995 album by the legendary Cream drummer's short-lived but critically successful trio featuring the amazing talents of Bill Frisell on guitar and Charlie Haden on bass. Horslips were a rock group from Dublin, Ireland. They had a few highly regarded, Celtic flavored albums. Happy To Meet, Sorry To Part was their very first album. It is significant for its uniquely shaped album cover, which we've tried to illustrate with our CD artwork. The Tain was their second album. Both of these albums were originally issued on Atco Records in 1973 & 1974 respectively.

Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar is best known as a studio guitarist extraordinaire who has played on countless albums. He has also issued a few solo albums. Yusef Lateef is one of the jazz greats! This eccentric sax/flute player issued numerous albums on the Atlantic label throughout the 1960s & 1970s. One that has never been out before is the 1975 live, double album, 10 Years Hence. His loyal legion of fans will want to complete their collection with this two record set now on one CD.

John McLaughlin is regarded as one of the greatest guitarists in the history of music. Making albums from the 60's through the present, his intense guitar work with The Mahavishnu Orchestra and Miles Davis gave birth to jazz/fusion. In 1984 he formed a reincarnation of sorts of The Mahavishnu Orchestra.
