When Robyn Ayling started Voiceprint a few years ago, he did so out of a love of the peak period of progressive music. He started by re-releasing material that was long out of print. But as the label expanded he looked for new things by the artists that helped create that peak period. And so Voiceprint expanded to develop Blueprint, Resurgence and, most recently, Folkprint as well.

John Wetton; The Flower Kings and More/Progfest '97 ....import DVD $27.99

This DVD is the debut release of the highlights of the Progfest 97 performances. As the title suggests the festival featured artists associated with the progressive rock movement.  Artists appearing at the festival in 1997 included John Wetton, Le Orme, The Flower Kings, Arena, Big Elf, Sinkadus and Spock's Beard.  John Wetton was performing tracks from his time with King Crimson and also UK alongside European prog acts such as The Flower Kings and American progressive rock band Spock's Beard.

John Payne and Andy Nye/The Passion ....import CD $18.99

John Payne has more than paid his dues in the rock business over the last twenty five years having worked with a number of high profile artists such as Roger Daltrey singing backing vocals on Roger's album Under A raging Moon. He was also briefly the vocalist with ELO II.  However for fifteen years John Payne was perhaps best know as the vocalist and bassist with British Rock Band Asia. In that time John wrote and produced seven studio albums that found success across the world including the albums Aqua, Aria, Arena, Aura and Silent Nation. He also played countless concerts with the band in Europe America, South America and Asia.  Following the split in Asia he formed a new band featuring Guthrie Govan and Jay Schellen (Also from the last line up of Asia) entitled GPS and the band subsequently released their debut album Window to the Soul. This release was followed up by dates in the UK and Europe and also Japan. In 2007 John Payne joined the cast of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds playing the part of Parson Nathaniel.  Prior to joining Asia John Payne joined with former Michael Schenker keyboard player Andy Nye and formed the band Passion. The band at the time also included former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr and former Mike Oldfield and Rick Wakeman guitarist Ant Glynne.  The Passion recordings have assumed an almost legendary status amongst fans of Asia and this first official release of the original recordings made by John Payne and Andy Nye will certainly prove to be popular with those rock fans who like the AOR sound of rock performed by John Payne.

A live concert film from 1984 by Al Stokes featuring Roy Harper, Hawkwind, Here and Now, and The Enid.  During the seventies and early eighties the Summer Solstice Festival at the historic Stonehenge was one of the major dates in the Festival diary. In 1984 a film was made of the event which that year included music from Hawkwind, Here and Now and Roy Harper.  Not to be confused with the commercially available video release that contained only edited performance footage. This film truly captures the essence of the festival in what proved to be the final time the festival was allowed to take place on the historic site.  For those who attended the festival this film will invoke immense and nostalgic memories and for those unable to attend it will give them an insider’s view of one of the last great free festivals.

Meridiem/Full Catastrophe ....import CD $18.99

Percy Howard is a singer and a song writer who over the years has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music world. The project named Meridiem was formed in 1997 when Percy invited Bill Laswell to work with him along with drummer Charles Hayward who had previously been a member of This Heat. Bill Laswell of course has worked with many artists including, Daevid Allen and New York Gong, Herbie Hancock and perhaps most famously Brian Eno and David Byrne on their album My Life In The Bush of Ghosts.  The album Full Catastrophe was originally released in 2000 and features the talents of founder Percy Howard alongside such stellar musicians as Living Color's Vernon Reid and King Crimson's Trey Gunn. Following in the steps of previous Meridiem releases Full Catastrophe manages to blend full on musicianship with structured cacophony. Unavailable for some time this release will be a welcome re issue.

Don Preston/Retrospective ....import CD $18.99

A career-spanning collection (1965-2007) of fascinating Don Preston compositions/performances – the natural sequel to both "Vile Foamy Ectoplasm" and "Works." Spoken word, electronics, fusion, piano solos, and duos with Bunk Gardner unite to define the mastery of Don Preston's career.  Don Preston has enjoyed the most diverse musical career of any original Mothers Of Invention member. Preston's earliest documented compositions (included here) go all the way back to 1957. In Don's hands, any type of music is presented with a unique perspective.   "Retrospective" includes new piano solo recordings of "Aegospotamos," his father's tune "A Private Lesson" and the brief 1965 outtake "Found Again" with Bunk Gardner that was located at the end of the reel for Don's composition "Found" (on the "Works" CD). Don and Bunk's duo recordings are represented by six further tracks on this collection, not counting their live performances with The Grandmothers.  Preston classics like "I Can’t Breathe," "The Eye Of Agamoto" and "Sweet 15" are presented in their original early '70s versions.  The 23 tracks on this release include 10 unreleased titles, with the rest remastered from the original mixdown tapes. Whether you're a fan of Don Preston's experimental work or just simply his keyboard prowess, "Retrospective" offers Don at his best.

Asher Quinn/Forgotten Language of the Heart ....import double CD $21.99

British born musician Asher Quinn is probably best known for his association with the "New Age" music genre that became massively popular during the eighties and nineties. Since Asher's debut album in 1987 he has sold more than half a million albums to a large and dedicated audience drawing comparisons to musicians such as Peter Gabriel and Phillip Glass and composers Ennio Morricone and Hans Zimmer.  Many of his albums have topped the New Age and ambient charts the world over and to date he has released more than twenty albums.  Forgotten Language Of The Heart is a double compilation album which features original material composed by Asher alongside selected cover versions of songs by other artists such as Leonard Cohen, The Stranglers and Bob Dylan. There are covers of Amazing Grace, Greensleeves and The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.  Of the original material produced by Asher there is a range of styles on display including some of Asher's instrumental New Age material and there is also a more recent song entitled The Mystic Garden which is featured here in a live performance.  Across the two discs are thirty seven tracks all of which will act as an excellent primer to the music of Asher Quinn.

David Kubinec and The Rats/Second Long Player Record ....import CD $18.99

David Kubinec has enjoyed a long and varied career in music which kick started in the beat boom of the sixties and continued throughout the Glam influenced seventies and beyond. David was a member of a number of bands during the sixties including Pieces Of Mind who spent a great deal of time in Germany and The World Of Oz who managed to score a hit single with a David Kubinec song Muffin Men released on Decca's underground label Deram.  After passing briefly through the ranks of progressive rock band Mainhorse Airline at the tail end of the sixties and into the start of the seventies which subsequently became the shortened Mainhorse. By 1973 Kubinec had found a new musical outlet and christened this new band The Rats. The Rats recorded a self titled album which was released along with a single. A change in line up however meant that the band that promoted the album was not the band that had recorded the album.  The band then recorded the Rats Second Long Player. The master tapes were given to his accountant for safe keeping. Due however to a disagreement between the accountant and members of a notorious criminal gang the tapes "disappeared" and were thought to be lost forever.  Not so.  David Kubinec had made a safety copy of the master tape and had hidden it away where it remained unreleased.  Now thirty five years later the tapes have been taken out of hiding brushed down and readied for release. The album stands up to scrutiny very well and still sounds incredibly modern and certainly not of the era in which it was recorded. The album is, however, one of the all time great "lost" albums and as such the release will interest collectors and fans alike of David Kubinec's work.

Arco Duo/In Space Rock ....import CD $18.99

Formed in 2005, Arco Duo with Daniel Godesh (guitar and vocals) and Fabio Pin (drums and vocal) was born out of the dissidence of the progressive-influenced group Arcomancia, where Daniel used to play acoustic steel guitars and Fabio Pin fended for himself with an instrument he called something like Keyboardrum, made up with parts of (that's right) drums and keyboards. Other instruments like saxophone, flute and trombone were also used in their various lineups.  In their new trajectory, the pair wrote and arranged a new repertoire full of sci-fi themes, based on their more direct influences: David Bowie, The Who, Pink Floyd and the Brazilian Secos & Molhados, and Rita Lee (of Mutantes fame).   In their first CD "In Space Rock," the duo gives us their '70s influenced musical concept, although they depict a future as a form of expanding today's sentiments. The idea of performing live in the studio with no overdubs, in order to preserve Duo's energy was given by producers Eduardo Santos and Gabriel Xavier, who also knew how to explore the sounds, creating an arrangement full of dynamics and energy.  Fabio Golfetti, from the psychedelic group Violeta de Outono, guests on four tracks with "space" effects on guitars and maestro Ruria Duprat (nephew of Tropicalia maetro Rogerio Duprat), a musician of international fame, gives his piano touch on three songs.   The CDs concept and futurist atmosphere also extend to the lyrics, with themes which go from solitude to urban neurosis, a trait of big pressure and safeless urban centres, and by the way, there is a cover version of David Bowie's "Space Oddity."

Dialeto/Will Exist Forever ....import CD $18.99

DIALETO is an Art-Rock band formed in Brazil in 1987 which used to play on the underground rock scene of the city of Sao Paulo in the late '80s, returns now after 14 years, resuming the same enthusiasm and energy that was their mark back then. DIALETO's music is constructed from cultural references of the progressive rock (King Crimson, ELP), hard rock (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple), jazz rock (Mahavishnu, Miles Davis) and the eastern folk music.  The band is releasing their first CD recovering the songs from the '90s, including "Existence," song inspired by a traditional theme from Pakistan and Afghanistan, which the chorus "Will Exist Forever" names the album. The basic tracks of this album (guitar, bass and drums) were recorded at a farm during the Carnival of 1990 and were first released on LP in 1991 under the name "Dialect." For this CD release, all vocals, additional guitars and violins were re-recorded due to the lost of the original overdubs and to take advantage of the new technologies, resulting in a fresh and up-to-date work.  There are 6 songs with vocals and 3 instrumental only, plus 2 bonus-tracks including a jamming named "Just for Free" recorded during the original sessions and one version of "Animal" sung in Portuguese.  The power trio re-assumes now its intense music, sometimes unpredictable and mysterious, filled with unconventional improvised parts with sonorities that send us to far and imaginary places, in a truly sensory challenge.

All About Eve/Live in Bonn ....import DVD $27.99

In September 1991 All About Eve had recently released their third album Touched By Jesus. It was a special album for a number of reasons. Firstly it was that all important third album and secondly it was the first album to feature new guitarist Marty Wilson Piper. When the band rolled up at the Biskuithalle in Bonn on the 5th of September it was to perform only its fourth concert with Marty Wilson Piper on board. Not only that the concert was to be filmed for the long running German music television programme Rockpalast.  The set list included six of the eleven tracks included on the Touched By Jesus album which certainly showed that the band were solidly behind the new album. The songs included Strange Way, Share It With Me, Touched By Jesus, Hide Child, Farewell Mr. Sorrow and Rhythm Of Life. The band still performed a couple of stalwarts from the previous albums such as In The Clouds, Wild Hearted Woman, Road To Your Soul and Every Angel but this was a new All About Eve and one that the fans took to immediately as can be seen by the reception on this DVD. All About Eve would go on to record a further album in 1992 entitled Ultraviolet before splitting in 1993. The band however did re form in the late nineties and found that there was still a huge audience for their music as there will be for this DVD.

Jefferson Airplane; Grateful Dead; Joan Baez & More/Berkeley in the Sixties ....import DVD $27.99

The sixties were a turbulent and at times violent decade. As the youth tried to break out of the confines set by the previous generation the old were puzzled by the sometimes outrageous behaviour of the young. The establishment and the younger generation seemed intent on colliding.  This award nominated documentary tries to explain what went on more particularly in Berkeley California which at the time seemed to be at the epicentre of some of the changes and the birth pangs of a new generation and covers subjects like The Black Panthers the student movement and free speech movement and of course the anti war movement. Interviews with Allen Ginsberg, Mario Savio and Huey Newton all give their impressions on what it was like in California during the sixties. Anderson Bruford Wakeman and Howe/In The Big Dream ....import DVD $18.99

Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe was made up of four fifths of the "Classic Yes" line up of the seventies. Put together by Jon Anderson who wanted to get back to the musical ideals made popular by Yes during the bands massively successful albums of the early to mid seventies. The band recorded one self titled album released in 1989 and then embarked on an extensive and hugely successful worldwide tour.  In The Big dream was filmed during the creative and recording process for the first and so far only studio album from Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe. The self titled album was recorded in amongst other locations Montserrat in 1988 and 1989.  The film captures the recording process of the band and also features interviews with the members of the band on how the project originally came together.  This DVD was previously available as part of the limited edition package of the Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe DVD An Evening Of Yes Music Plus but is now available to buy as a stand alone release.

It was produced and arranged with original Genesis guitarist Anthony Phillips, and features rock legend Andy Latimer of Camel, and Tony Freer of The Enid.  The album has been re mastered since its original release and now includes two bonus tracks.

Leslie West/The Great Fatsby ....import CD $18.99

As a solo artist Leslie West continued his career during breaks from Mountain in the mid seventies and despite working extensively with Mountain Leslie manages to also keep his solo career a going concern.  The Great Fatsby was Leslie's solo album originally released in 1975 and was completed following another bout of activity from Mountain. The album includes a number of guest players including Spooky Tooth's Gary Wright and Mick Jagger who plays guitar on the album rather than singing.  The album is an eclectic affair including as it does a number of covers including House Of The Rising Sun (Animals), A Little Bit Of Love(Free), Honky Tonk Women (Rolling Stones) and If I Were A Carpenter (Tim Hardin). The album also includes the song High Roller which is co written by Leslie West, Corky Laing and Keith Richard and Mick Jagger and also features Mick Jagger on guitar.  The album was always a popular album in the Leslie West canon and has been out of print for a short period prior to this reissue.

The Leslie West Band/The Leslie West Band ....import CD $18.99

The Leslie West Band was the band that Leslie West formed to play solo concerts in order to promote his solo album The Great Fatsby. The band included former Mountain drummer Corky Laing and also future Foreigner guitarist and song writer Mick Jones. In fact Mick Jones wrote one of the more popular songs on the album, Singapore Sling, and also co wrote another seven of the bands ten tracks with Corky Laing and Leslie West.   The album also includes two covers the first a rocked up version of the Beatles song Dear Prudence and the second a cover of the Mann Weil song We Gotta Get Out Of This Place a song made famous by the Animals.

Hawkwind/Reading University 19th May 1992 ....import double CD $24.99

After almost forty years recording and performing, Hawkwind have long been regarded as the leading light of the Space Rock genre. Still led by Dave Brock the band has carved itself a niche and built up a massive worldwide following. In addition to releasing successful albums the band was also at the forefront of the "official Bootleg" movement which has gained prominence with the advent of the Internet age. One of the latest releases is a recording made by the band at Reading University. Recorded on the 19th May 1992 the line up for this gig was the classic three piece line up of Dave Brock, Richard Chadwick and Alan Davey. Tracks include Seven By Seven, The Right Stuff, Psi Power, Master Of The Universe and much more.

Chris Thompson/Timeline ....import CD $18.99

For many people Chris Thompson will perhaps be best remembered as the singer for Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Chris sang on the hits Blinded By The Light and Davey's On The Road Again as well as a number of hugely successful albums. From the Earth Band Chris then formed Night alongside Stevie Lange, Robbie McIntosh and Nicky Hopkins and again scoring success in America with two albums for Richard Perry's Planet record label and two hit singles. Since that time Chris has made a number of solo album as well as working with some of the biggest names in music such as Queen, Elton John and many more.   In the mid eighties Chris Thompson co wrote the song "You’re The Voice" which was a massive worldwide hit for Australian singer John Farnham. Currently Chris is reprising his role in the live tour of Jeff Wayne's musical version of The War Of The Worlds as it tours the world. Chris sang the song Thunder Child on the original 1978 album release.  Timeline is a compilation of material featuring classic songs associated with Chris and also new material which will be a taster for a forthcoming solo album.   Tracks include live versions of Mighty Quinn, Blinded By The Light and Davey's On The Road Again alongside the original demo of You're The Voice. There is also a bonus classical version of You're The Voice recorded with a full orchestra.

Chris Thompson Live was originally released in 2005 and features Chris performing many songs associated with his long career including songs from the Manfred Mann's Earth Band era.

This concert was filmed in Tromso with the Mads Erikson band. The hot element comes from the bands performance and the cold comes from the almost Arctic temperatures outside the venue in Norway.  The band work their way through many of the Manfred Mann's Earthband songs associated with Chris including Questions, Blinded By The Light, For You and Davy's On The Road Again along with newer material and You're the Voice a song that Chris wrote and John Farnham took to the top of the charts across the world.  Bonus footage includes an in depth interview with Chris filmed in London in 2008.

The Pasadena Roof Orchestra's 1984 album "Fifteen Years On" is being re-released by Upbeat Recordings.  "Fifteen Years On" was the first recording on the Orchestra's own label Pasadena Records and has never been available before in the UK on CD.  This Abbey Road recording from July 1984 is full of fantastic titles including PRO favourites such as Varsity Drag, I Can't Dance, Here's To The Next Time, and a full version of Home In Pasadena.  Listen, Dance, but most of all Enjoy.

Matt Malley/The Goddess Within ....import CD $18.99

Matt Malley will best be known as the bassist and founder member of American rock band Counting Crows.  Whilst Matt was with the band between the years 1990 and 2004 the band achieved massive worldwide success releasing a number of hugely successful albums and touring the world. Matt also received nominations for an Oscar, Grammy and a Golden Globe award.  Since leaving Counting Crows Matt has concentrated on his craft as a bassist and working in his own recording studio on his own work and production for others. More importantly he has finished work on his debut album as a solo artist.  This debut album from Matt Malley, entitled Goddess Within, will surely appeal to those fans that have followed his career with the Counting Crows and beyond.  The album features ten tracks including the tracks Feel, Our Queen, Magic Garden and The Dawning Of Your Day.

John Shuttleworth is the character created by musician Graham Fellows who has also on occasion been known as Jilted John, best remembered for his massive hit in the seventies, 'Jilted John.'  John Shuttleworth is a completely different kettle of fish. A fifty something unemployed man living in Sheffield who is fond of DIY and writing songs on his Yamaha keyboard which are inspired by his life.  The Dolby Years is the follow up to "The Yamaha Years" and as a release has been much anticipated. Twenty top tunes from Sheffield's finest solo performer including: Three Men In A Van, I Can't Go Back To Savoury Now, Disaffected Youth, Mutiny Over The Bounty and Scenes From South Yorkshire. A substantial fan base for this artist will ensure the album reaches unheard of heights.

Swiss born Patrick Moraz is probably best known in rock music circles as the man who played with two of the world's biggest rock bands, firstly with Yes recording the album Relayer and touring extensively with the band between 1974 and 1976. Following this stint with Yes Patrick would go on to join another legendary band, the Moody Blues. Patrick has also been a member of the progressive rock bands Mainhorse and later Refugee where he joined forces with two former members of the Nice. This band also released one critically acclaimed self titled album before Patrick left to join Yes.  Patrick Moraz began his solo career in earnest in 1976 with the release of The Story of I.  Patrick's latest album is entitled Change of Space and it is his first album of new material in a number of years. Kevin Peek/Awakening ....import CD $18.99

Australian guitarist Kevin Peek has played on many recordings over the years in his capacity as a session guitarist. Over the years Kevin has recorded with the likes of Cliff Richard, Leo Sayer, Mary Hopkin, Manfred Mann, Kiki Dee and Shirley Bassey among others.   More famously Kevin formed the classical/rock fusion band Sky alongside John Williams and Herbie Flowers experiencing massive commercial success the world over.   Awakening was Kevin Peek's second solo album and was recorded whilst still a member of Sky and released in late 1981. As the name of this band implies there is a strong connection with that most cherished or progressive rock bands King Crimson. The band was formed by former members of King Crimson in 2002. The initial aim was to play live the music from the King Crimson catalogue that no longer featured in King Crimson's live performances. Fairport Convention and Matthews Southern Comfort/Fairport Convention and Matthews Southern Comfort ....import CD $18.99

In July 1970 Fairport Convention found themselves alongside Matthews Southern Comfort playing at the Maidstone Fiesta an open air concert. This concert was captured on film by the renowned British film director Tony Palmer. The restored film was released on DVD for the first time in 2007.  This CD is the audio portion of the concert performance and captures Fairport's 'Full House' line up at their height. The band performs the song Sir Patrick Spens alongside various jigs and reels and also the song Now Be Thankful which had been released as a single at the time.  Matthews Southern Comfort is also featured performing two songs and at this point in their career just a few months away from a number one single with a cover of Joni Mitchell’s Woodstock. Alongside Ian Matthews the band featured Carl Barnwell, Gordon Huntley, Ray Duffy, Mark Griffiths and Andy Leigh. PHD was the coming together of two hugely experienced musicians Jim Diamond and Tony Hyams.  Both had enjoyed moderate to huge success as member of other bands. Quicksilver Messenger Service/Live at the Carousel Ballroom San Francisco 1968 ....import double CD $24.99

This double disc recording finds the Quicksilver Messenger Service playing at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco. The Carousel was another of Bill Graham's venues and he would re name it the Fillmore West and run it until 1971. When this recording was made it was just a few weeks after the release of the self titled debut from Quicksilver Messenger Service. The set included The Fool and Light Your Windows from the debut alongside live favourites Who Do You Love, Babe I’m Gonna Leave You and Walkin' Blues. The second disc however is the real pull for Quicksilver fans as it contains just the one track of the band doing what they do best and what sealed their reputation as a live band. The disc is taken up with 'The Jam,' an extended piece which never outstays its welcome but which underpins the bands musical inventiveness and dexterity.

Iron Butterfly/Concert and Documentary: Europe 1977 ....import DVD $27.99

Iron Butterfly is an American rock band originally formed in 1966 by keyboardist Doug Ingle and drummer Ron Bushy. The band underwent a number of personnel changes around Ingle and Bushy until the band recorded that album they are most associated with in 1968. That album was In A Gadda Da Vida. The album's title coming from the song which took up one whole side of the album is a derivative of In The Garden Of Eden. The original version of the song was seventeen minutes plus and included a two minute drum solo and keyboard and guitar solos which was unheard of at the time. The album would go on to sell four million copies in America alone and worldwide it is believed the album tops twenty five million. This DVD features the band performing during their European tour in 1997. The band features three original members; vocalist and keyboardist Doug Ingle, Drummer Ron Bushy and bassist Lee Dorman. The band run through a well received set which includes In A Gadda Da Vida as a highlight and proving it to be as potent s it was when it was first unleashed on the public in 1968. The DVD also includes a bonus interview and includes contributions from Doug Ingle, Lee Dorman, Ron Bushy and also Steve Howe who talks about the time Yes supported Iron Butterfly at London's Albert Hall.

Jefferson Starship/Live at the Cavern Club Liverpool 2004 ....import double CD $24.99

Jefferson Starship grew out of the San Francisco band Jefferson Airplane. The band released their debut album Dragonfly in early 1974 and since that time the band has enjoyed massive success on the world stage both with albums and concert appearances.   Rather like fellow San Francisco band The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Starship find themselves in the twenty first century with as much interest in their career as they had in the sixties and seventies. The band still led by founder member Paul Kantner and joined occasionally by fellow founder member Marty Balin still tour regularly and record occasionally. The band however does have a large archive of live recordings made over the years and stored away in the vault. Similar to the Grateful Dead's "Dick's Picks" series, in early 2008 Jefferson Starship launch their own official live archive series Mick's Picks. The live recordings have been chosen and curated by the bands current manager Michael Gaiman.  This recording was made at the world famous Cavern Club Liverpool in March 2004. The line up for this concert was; Paul Kantner- vocals, 12-string acoustic guitars; Marty Balin- vocals, acoustic guitar; Diana Mangano- vocals; Mark "Slick" Aguilar- vocals, electric lead guitar; Chris Smith- keyboards, bass; Prairie Prince- drums.  Among the songs performed at this concert were; Crown Of Creation, Eskimo Blue Day, Somebody To Love, Wooden Ships. Alongside a couple of Beatles numbers (Eleanor Rigby and Lady Madonna) and a newer track in the form of Planet Earth Rock n Roll Orchestra. As with all the live recordings in the series this live album comes directly from the Jefferson Starship archive and is overseen by Michael Gaiman.

The Millenium/Pieces ....import CD $18.99

The Millennium was a studio based band put together by producer Curt Boettcher. The band perhaps influenced by The Association who was a very successful pop band at the time renowned for their vocal harmonies. The Millennium however would plough a very different furrow to the Association veering into a more progressive direction. The band released one album entitled Begin and then shortly after split following the record company decision to drop the band following disappointing sales of the album Begin. The band featured song writer and guitarist Joey Stec and along with Curt Boettcher and engineer Keith Olsen put together the bands debut and many of the tracks on that album feature on the compilation album Pieces along with other tracks recorded by the band.

Acid Mothers Gong/Live at the Uncon 2006 ....import DVD $27.99

Gong Acid Mothers was the latest chapter in the seemingly endless regenerating story of Gong.  Following a concert with Gong at the end of 2001 In Blackburn of all places Daevid Allen caught site of a Gong poster advertising the concert alongside a poster advertising a performance of the ballet Swan Lake. It set Daevid thinking and changes were afoot within Gong. It was this particular incident coupled with Daevid receiving a love letter that convinced him that perhaps it was time to once again shed the skin and move onto the next phase of Gong, which would turn out to be Gong Acid Mothers which would see collaboration between Gong and the band Acid Mothers Temple. The collaboration proved a fruitful one and a well received album was released in late 2003.   Acid Mothers Gong Live At The Uncon 2006 is the DVD offering of a magical combination of musicians coming together to push the boundaries of music. The successful gathering of the tribes in Holland in 2006 saw the extended Gong Family perform in front of the faithful. This DVD features the line up Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Josh Pollock, Kawabata Makoto, Higashi Hiroshi, Yoshida Tatsuya, Atsushi Tsuyama.

Daevid Allen/Brainville at the Knitting Factory ....import CD $18.99

Brainville was the band formed by Daevid Allen, Hugh Hopper and the late Pip Pyle, all revered musicians within the Canterbury Scene. The band have built up a good groundswell of support over the years that it has been a going concern which is usually when the three members had a gap in their otherwise busy schedules. Sadly founder member Pip Pyle died in the late summer of 2006 however Daevid Allen and Hugh Hopper decided to continue playing concerts with Brainville with a replacement drummer and to this end they have played a number of well received concerts. This album is sourced from a concert that took place at the Knitting Factory venue in New York in 1998. As with any Daevid Allen related release there will be a great deal of interest in the release which will also stretch beyond the Allen fan base into the Canterbury Sound fan base which is also a large and dedicated fan base. This live recording will be a valuable addition to the catalogue of what is in Daevid Allen's own words "The Most eccentric 3 piece jazz rock outfit of the Canterbury school."

Daevid Allen's University of Errors/Plays The Soft Machine ....import DVD $27.99

Daevid Allen as most history books will state was a founder member of The Soft Machine. Whilst with the band Soft Machine became the darlings of the underground music scene and Daevid Allen recorded briefly with the band. This recording taken from a performance at the Gong UNCON in November 2006 features a number of songs performed by the University Of Errors that covers the Soft Machine era that featured Daevid Allen.  The Amsterdam performance was the first time that UofE performed most of this material live since re-recording the songs for their CD "Jet Propelled Photographs" in 2003. It was a very fitting situation as the entire weekend was a celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Daevid's original vision of The Planet Gong in 1966 while a member of The Soft Machine.   University of Errors played on the last night of the 3-Day Amsterdam unConvention. Expectations were high and the band did not disappoint. The performance was professionally filmed and recorded. Mixing and editing were done by Daevid and Michael and Harry Williamson a few months later.

The year was 1989 when former Yes-men Jon Anderson, Bill Bruford, Rick Wakeman, and Steve Howe, longing to rekindle the magic that defined Yes music in the '70s, joined forces to record and release a new album. ABWH/An Evening of Yes Music Plus ....import DVD $24.99

Standard Single DVD edition featuring the full concert.  Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe was made up of four fifths of the "Classic Yes" line up of the seventies. Put together by Jon Anderson, who wanted to get back to the musical ideals made popular by Yes during the bands massively successful albums of the early to mid seventies, the band recorded one self titled album released in 1989, and then embarked on an extensive and hugely successful worldwide tour.  This performance was captured on the American leg of the world tour and finds the band performing not only material from the self titled album but also classic material from Yes including Starship Trooper, Close To The Edge and also And You And I.  The tour was not however without its problems and bassist on the tour Tony Levin was unfortunately taken ill and had to drop out at the last minute to be admitted to hospital. This left the band in dire straits as the tour was put in jeopardy and the band had also scheduled the filming of this particular performance. Enter bassist Jeff Berlin, who had curiously enough like Tony Levin, played with Bill Bruford.   With only a short period of rehearsal Jeff threw himself into the gap vacated by the departed Tony Levin. Jeff's performance, as was the rest of the band, incredible and captured on film for posterity. The film was previously, briefly available on VHS before being deleted.  Now on DVD, this magnificent fan favourite comes in a double digipack with original Roger Dean artwork and also a beautiful DVD photo booklet along with new sleeve notes.  You can now once again—or perhaps for the very first time—experience the splendour and majesty that was the ABWH tour.

Jon Anderson will forever be known as the singer of British rock band Yes, although there have been periods of time when Jon left the band to concentrate on his solo career or collaborations with other artists such as Vangelis.  In 1985 Jon Anderson decided to record a seasonal album and thus 3 Ships was born.  The album contains a number of Christmas classics such as Three Ships, Ding Dong Merrily and Jingle Bells. 2006 edition of the Yes frontman's third solo album. Anderson had released this album just prior to rejoining a reconsituted Yes in 1983 (for the album 90125). The sessions were produced by Tony Visconti (David Bowie) and features guest musicians Jack Bruce (Cream), Clem Clempson (Colosseum), Ian Wallace (King Crimson), Simon Phillips (801, Jeff Beck, Toto) and David Sancious (Bruce Springsteen) among others. This edition adds two bonus tracks to the original track list; "Spider", which was the B-side of the original "Surrender" single and "The Spell," a twelve minute outtake from the "Animation" recording sessions.  Please note this release seems to have been mastered from vinyl and not the original master tapes.

Jon Anderson is universally known as the vocalist with the legendary progressive rock band Yes.  Amongst his noted solo albums Jon has released the albums Olias of Sunhillow, Song of Seven and more recently collaborated on the album In Elven Lands which was a musical adaptation of the Lord of the Rings.  Towards the end of 2006 Jon Anderson released the boxed set The Lost Tapes. Live in Sheffield 1980 is one of the albums featured within the box.  In late 1979 Jon Anderson left Yes for a solo career. He recorded the album Song of Seven and subsequently embarked on an extensive tour in support of the album with a large band that went under the name The New Life Band. The Sheffield Concert was a gig from The Song of Seven Tour in the UK 1980. The 9 piece line-up provides a generous set list including number of key YES songs as well as songs from Jon's solo album 'Song of Seven'. These recordings are not taken from bootleg, but rather recently discovered tapes and the overall quality of these tapes is far better than any of the previous tapes of this show that have been traded amongst fans.  Disc Two also contains bonus tracks which were recorded during the rehearsals for the tour and once again the sound quality has been improved for this release and the previously released boxed set.

Watching The Flags Fly is a collection of songs recorded in 1990, intended for the second ABWH album. John Payne has more than paid his dues in the rock business over the last twenty five years having worked with a number of high profile artists such as Roger Daltrey singing backing vocals on Roger's album Under A Raging Moon. He was also briefly the vocalist with ELO II. However for fifteen years John Payne was perhaps best know as the vocalist and bassist with British Rock Band Asia. In that time John wrote and produced seven studio albums that found success across the world including the albums Aqua, Aria, Arena, Aura and Silent Nation. He also played countless concerts with the band in Europe America, South America and Asia.  Scandinavia as the name suggests is a live album recorded in Scandinavia whilst Asia were guests on the Dio tour. The performance featured here is one of the last performances to feature the line up of John Payne, Geoff Downes, Guthrie Govan and Jay Schellen. This in concert recording features the classic Asia songs Heat Of The Moment, Sole Survivor, Time Again, Wildest Dreams and Only Time Will Tell. Bruford Levin Upper Extremities is the band formed by Bill Bruford and Tony Levin in 1998. Both musicians first came together in King Crimson in the early eighties and of course had extremely distinguished careers before meeting up in King Crimson. Bruford had previously been a member of Yes, King Crimson, Genesis and led his own band Bruford. Tony Levin had previously played with Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel and also played on the sessions for John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Double fantasy album. Bruford Levin Upper Extremities or B.L.U.E. as they became known recorded two albums, one self titled studio album released in 1999 and a live album entitled Blue Nights released in 2000. The band was filled out by guitarist David Torn and trumpeter Chris Botti and the music the band performed was an intriguing mix of jazz and rock. Blue Nights is the companion album to the studio debut from B.L.U.E. The album was recorded in 1998 and includes live versions of a number of songs from the debut studio album including Cerulean Sea, and Original Sin. There are also a number of songs that appear only on this album. As a companion album to the studio B.L.U.E. album this live album completes the circle and as a memento for those who witnessed the tour is invaluable.

CCCP/Let's Spend The Night Together ....import CD $18.99

Rather than coming from Russia CCCP came from a number of different corners of the world including Sweden, Britain and America. The original band was to have included the late Gary Holton who unfortunately died before the project could be finalised. Enter John Payne who was at the time in the eighties beginning to build a reputation as a vocalist on the London recording scene.  John would go on to work briefly with ELO II and also record backing vocals on Roger Daltrey’s albums Under A Raging Moon and Can’t Wait To See The Movie. He is perhaps more famous for replacing John Wetton as the vocalist and bassist in Asia for fifteen years between 1991 and 2006 recording more than ten albums with the band and touring the world a number of times. Since John left Asia he has appeared as the Parson Nathaniel in Jeff Wayne's musical version of The War Of The Worlds and also formed a new band with Jay Schellan and Guthrie Govan entitled GPS.  CCCP was put together by a producer and conceived as a studio project in 1986 which featured a number off different vocalists including John Payne and Carlene Carter. The album includes a number of cover versions including a cover of the Eagles song One Of These Nights which is sung by John Payne.  This release is the first time that the album has received a general worldwide release and as such will appeal to long time fans of John's work both as a solo artist and his work with Asia.

Exactly as it is billed, the Bo Diddley All Star Rock n Roll Jam sees a gathering of all star rock musicians paying tribute to Bo Diddley. Filmed at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in October 1985 Bo Diddley put together a band that included Ron Wood, John Mayall, Mick Fleetwood, Kenney Jones, Carmine Appice, John Lodge, Carl Wilson, Mitch Mitchell and many more to run through some rock n roll classics. Another Rock n Roll veteran Chuck Berry also puts in a appearance in what is possible one of the all time unrepeatable gigs. Songs included here include I'm A Man, Who Do You Love, Hey Bo Diddley, Rock n Roll Music and My Ding A Ling. 13th Star is the latest studio offering from Fish and was written and recorded during what was one of the biggest personal upheavals in Fish's life. The album is a dark and reflective album although there is an optimism running throughout the album. The material from the album was premiered during the lengthy European tour to promote the album that stretched from late summer through to early December 2007 and the tracks Circle Line, Square Go, Manchmal and Dark Star will already be familiar to people who saw Fish on tour. In addition to the tour to promote the album which was produced by Calum Malcolm Fish recorded a lengthy interview featuring the album for download as a podcast. August 2007 will find Fish commencing his latest European tour which will continue through the autumn and finish in December in France. During the tour Fish will release his latest live album Communion.  Communion is a double live CD and was recorded at St Mary's Church, Haddington on the Acoustic Night of the Company Convention August 2006.   The double album is a 19 track set featuring a number of songs never before played live including Tara which also features Fish's daughter Tara on vocals, and rare acoustic versions performed by Fish and his full band plus special guests including Heather Findlay and Angela Gordon from Mostly Autumn and Anne-Marie Helder (ex-Karnataka) on backing vocals.  The album was recorded and produced by Calum Malcolm and is housed in a deluxe 3 panel digipack. Galahad/Empires Never Last ....import CD $17.99

'Empires Never Last' is the sixth proper Galahad studio album. This is easily Galahad's heaviest, most muscular and guitar orientated album to date. Although a lot darker both musically and lyrically from previous albums the sound is still distinctively Galahad. Keyboards still feature prominently, but the band evokes a more industrial feel at times on this album with its liberal use of sequencers, effects, samples and unusual electronic sounds. Steve Hillage/Germany 77 ....import DVD $29.99

Steve Hillage first came to prominence as a member of the multi-national rock band Gong. Steve appeared on successful albums such as Angels Egg, You and his final album with the band, Shamal. Steve recorded his first solo album in 1975 entitled Fish Rising. This album was recorded whilst still a member of Gong. Shortly after however, Steve and his partner Miquette Giraudy left Gong embarking on a career that continues to this day under the name System Seven.  In 1976 Steve recorded the album "L" with Todd Rundgren producing. The album was a huge success and Steve subsequently formed the Steve Hillage Band which included former Jethro Tull drummer Clive Bunker and future Camel bassist Colin Bass. The band made its live debut at the Hyde Park concert staged by Queen in September 1976. Following the live debut the band played numerous live concerts including a concert in Germany in early 1977 for German television. This performance is now captured on this DVD.  The track listing of this fabulous performance from the first Steve Hillage band includes: Salmon Song, Hurdy Gurdy Glissando, Hurdy Gurdy Man, Solar Musick Suite, Lunar Musick Suite, It's All Too Much, (Lunar Musick Suite)/ It's All Too Much II, Aftaglid Pt. Mainhorse would probably be a footnote in rock history and still be residing in the section of record collectors shops were it not for the inclusion of Swiss Keyboard player Patrick Moraz. Patrick Moraz is of course now famous as the man who replaced Rick Wakeman in Yes and recorded the Relayer album and also the man who replaced Mike Pinder in the Moody Blues.  Mainhorse signed originally to Polydor Records in 1970 and released their self-titled debut in 1971. The album whilst showing immense promise enjoyed only limited success commercially and the band disbanded shortly after the album failed to catapult the band to worldwide stardom.  Along with Patrick Moraz the other musician of note was Bryson Graham who would go on to play with Gary Wright in Wonderwheel and then join Wright in a re formed Spooky Tooth in 1972.  The Mainhorse album is an unabashed progressive rock album and over the years has built up a sizeable fan base although its scarcity ensures that the price it commands puts it beyond the casual listener. Tracks featured are Pale Sky, Passing Years and the extended God which is considered a highlight of the album and a good showcase for the style that Patrick Moraz would go on to popularize in Refugee, Yes and his solo work.  The album has never been commercially available on CD making this release its debut in that format. The album has been re mastered personally by Patrick Moraz for this release.

John Martyn/The Man Upstairs ....import DVD $24.99

Man Upstairs is a concert film of a John Martyn performance for German television in 1978. This performance was captured just months after John's most recent album One World had been released. The concert features four songs from that recent album (Big Muff, Small Hours, Certain Surprise and Couldn't Love You More) alongside older material from albums such as Solid Air (Solid Air, May You Never and I'd rather Be The devil), Bless The Weather (Bless The Weather, Glistening Glyndebourne and Singin' In The Rain) and Sunday's Child (One Day Without You).

John Martyn/The Simmer Dim ....import CD $18.99

John Martyn is an important and influential figure in both British folk and rock music. Over a career that spans thirty seven years John Martyn has managed to explore a variety of styles woven together to become a style all of its own. Based around a catalogue of songs second to none John Martyn continues to explore his own particular niche.    This is a rather rare and much sought after solo concert recording from John Martyn. Rare because at the time John was moving more towards a band sound and so solo appearances were becoming less common. This concert was recorded at the Garrison Theatre Lerwick in Shetland on the 12th of August 1980. The solo set includes the songs Over The Hill, Easy Blues, Couldn’t Love You More and an extended version of Outside In which almost stretches to twenty minutes.

Pianist Steve Miller (1943-1998) formed his trio in the mid-eighties after a lengthy hiatus for technique reevaluation. With young bassist Tony Moore and AMM drummer Eddie Prevost, Steve was now able to improvise freely sans traces of his deep roots in blues and boogie. With time spent in Delivery and Caravan well behind him, Steve's new path lead to a weekly series of concerts billed as "Meetings with Remarkable Saxophonists". At London's Bull & Gate, the diverse talents of Lol Coxhill, Harrison Smith, Elton Dean (1945-2006) and Bobby Wellins rose to meet the spontaneous challenge of improvised music making, with all performances professionally recorded on high speed tape. The special success, in our opinion, was the splendid meeting of altoist Elton Dean and the Steve Miller Trio. Two extended sets of continuous collective improvisation, strongly rooted in the powerful modern jazz aesthetic, comprise this nearly hour long CD. With rare concert photos and notes from Steve complimenting this important document, the Steve Miller Trio "Meets Elton Dean" is indeed a musical meeting to be treasured.

Coexistence was Patrick's release in 1980. The album takes Patrick into the eighties and at the time was considered a very forward thinking album. The album contains nine tracks although the track Coexistence is split into four movements. The album was re issued in 1989 under the title of Libertate with all the royalties going to the charitable foundation "Terre des Hommes", a Charity Organization based in Geneva, to help the Children of newly liberated Rumania in 1989.  As with the albums in this series Patrick Moraz has personally re mastered this album for release.

Future Memories Live On TV was at the time considered a brave experiment. The music was performed live for a Swiss television programme and recorded directly to tape as the programme was broadcast. At one point you can even hear the television cameras moving around Patrick. The album consists of three tracks Metamorphoses, Eastern Sundays and Black Silk.  As with all the albums in this re issue series Patrick Moraz has personally re mastered this album for release.  Includes the bonus track Paris In A Bottle.

Swiss born Patrick Moraz is probably best known in rock music circles as the man who was to play a major part in two of the world's biggest rock bands. At one point you can even hear the television cameras moving around Patrick as he performs and in the spirit of the performance the camera and the noise generated become part of the performance.  Future Memories II followed five years after the initial Future Memories Live on TV album and the album sourced from the video performance is highly regarded by the Patrick Moraz fan base. The performance this time however as well as introducing the upgrade in keyboard technology also finds Patrick getting into the spirit of the performance by dressing up in costume for a number of the pieces. This performance was also selected to be the official Swiss Nomination in Switzerland's Golden Rose/Montreux Festival in 1984.  In addition to the two complete performances there is also bonus footage of Patrick filmed in November 2006 discussing the two shows and talking of the possibility of a Third Future Memories performance!

Future Memories II followed five years after the initial Future Memories Live on TV album and this album is highly regarded by the Patrick Moraz fan base. Human Interface was originally released in 1987 and sees Patrick once again returning to electronic instrumentation. The material on this instrumental album could be considered almost mainstream and has been compared to his work with the Moody Blues although only in terms of sounds and textures with the track Light Elements considered to be one of his best works.  As with the other albums in this re issue series Patrick Moraz has personally re mastered this album for release and included two bonus tracks - live performances of Stressless and Go to Ophioplomel + Intro.

Patrick Moraz/Live in Princeton ....import DVD $24.99

Patrick Moraz Live In Princeton is another live acoustic outing from Patrick Moraz. The concert took place at Westminster Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey in 1995 and captures Patrick's piano work perfectly. Tracks include Blue Monk and the Intro from Best Years Of Our Lives which was originally from The Story Of I.  This release will be the first time that this performance has been released on DVD although it was previously available as a VHS. The VHS however has been unavailable for some time and is now a collector's item. The sound on the DVD has been overseen personally by Patrick Moraz as with the recent series of reissued CDs and the picture quality improved.

Out In The Sun is Patrick's second solo album and comes from 1977.  It was recorded in Switzerland and Brazil and was recorded shortly after Patrick left Yes. As with The Story Of I the album has a very percussive feel throughout although the album is made up of eight individual pieces rather than the thematic piece that was The Story Of I.   Featured tracks include Out In The Sun, Tentacles, Kabal and Silver Screen. The self titled third album from Patrick Moraz is widely considered to be one of his best solo recordings. The album has a theme running through it the concept being the primitive culture against the modern culture. The Story Of I was Patrick’s debut solo album and recorded in late 1975 during a period when all the members of Yes embarked on solo projects. The album was a concept piece based around a story Patrick had written. Musically the album features Latin and rock rhythms in fact the entire album has a very percussive feel to it. One of the featured musicians on the album alongside Patrick is well known session drummer Andy Newmark. Other featured musicians on the album are jazz drummer Alphonse Mouzon and bassist Jeff Berlin.  The Story Of I is part of an extensive reissue campaign through 2006 that will see all Patrick’s back catalogue albums receive a new release through Voiceprint. To this end Patrick has personally overseen the re master of all the albums in the catalogue.

Tony Palmer/Fairport Convention and Matthews Southern Comfort ....import DVD $25.99

By 1970 Fairport Convention had been together as a band for some three years. During this period, the band had recorded and released five studio albums, with one of the albums, Liege and Lief, being hailed as genre defining. At the time of the filming of this performance, the band had just recorded their most recent album Full House, with the line-up featuring founder members Richard Thompson and Simon Nicol, alongside Dave Pegg, Dave Swarbrick and drummer Dave Mattacks. This line-up was - and still is - considered one of the key line-ups of Fairport Convention, although the band only managed one studio and (released much later) one live album.  Apart from the footage contained on this DVD, the Full House line-up was unfortunately never filmed commercially until reunions at the band's regular Cropredy Festival years later. The film, directed by renowned British film director Tony Palmer, captures the band at the Maidstone Fiesta during the summer of 1970 as they run through their set of the time. This included various jigs and reels, and the songs Sir Patrick Spens and Now Be Thankful. Now Be Thankful, incidentally, although originally recorded for the band's album Full House, was even released at the time as a single. The film also features two songs from Matthews Southern Comfort, the band led by former Fairport Convention member, Ian Matthews. As well as having the Fairport connection, Matthews Southern Comfort would also go on to have a massive hit single with a cover of the Joni Mitchell song Woodstock in late 1970.  The film has only recently been rediscovered and the restoration overseen by Tony Palmer. The DVD also includes bonus footage of an exclusive interview filmed in spring 2007 with director Tony Palmer where he explains how he first met Fairport Convention and his thoughts on the band and the film over thirty five years later.

Panic Room was formed following the break-up of UK rock group, Karnataka, and features four members of the original award winning line-up. Australian guitarist Kevin Peek has played on many recordings over the years in his capacity as a session guitarist. Kevin has recorded with the likes of Cliff Richard, Leo Sayer, Mary Hopkin, Manfred Mann, Kiki Dee and Shirley Bassey among others.  More famously Kevin formed the classical/rock fusion band Sky alongside John Williams and Herbie Flowers experiencing massive commercial success the world over.  Life and Other Games was Kevin’s third solo album originally released in 1982 while Kevin was still a member of Sky. Anthony Phillips was a founder member of the British Rock band Genesis. Anthony recorded the albums From Genesis To Revelation and Trespass and also performed a great many gigs before deciding to leave the band following a particularly bad bout of stage fright and also suffering a debilitating bout of bronchial pneumonia. It was between the years 1970 and the release of his debut album The Geese And The Ghost in 1977 that many fans lost sight of Anthony Phillips. In actual fact much of the material that would make up the Geese And The Ghost would be written during this time. The Geese and the Ghost was originally released in 1977 and features performances from Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins alongside Anthony.1984 was originally released in 1981 and was critically well received. Based on the George Orwell novel 1984 Anthony Phillips is responsible for most of the playing on the album save for some percussion from Morris Pert and also percussion, Vocals and keyboards from co producer Richard Scott. This reissue has been re mastered for this release and also contains a second disc which includes outtakes and demos of the material that went on to from the original album. Also included on this disc is The Rule Britannia Suite.

Anthony Phillips was a founder member of the British Rock band Genesis. The 30th anniversary of the original release of Ant's solo debut album is marked with the re-issue of the album as an expanded 2 CD version. The album itself has been expertly re-mastered from the original master tapes by recording engineer and co-producer of the original album Simon Heyworth. The location of the original master tapes brought to light the previously unheard Lute's Chorus Reprise section of Henry: Portraits From Tudor Times which was excised from track at the final stage of completing the album as it was felt at the time that the track was a little too long. This has now been restored to its rightful place on the album in order that the track can be heard for the first time in the originally intended form.  The extra CD features a fascinating "behind the scenes" view of the initial stages of the recording of the album with the basic tracks of Ant and Mike Rutherford's original acoustic guitar parts for The Geese & The Ghost (Parts One & Two), Which Way The Wind Blows and Henry: Portraits From Tudor Times being mixed for the first time in isolation from the later overdubs that were added to the album. Complimenting these unique versions of the original tracks is the only unreleased track from the original sessions (a planned new version of the co-written Silver Song that never progressed beyond this initial recording), Ant's original demo of Collections (which was recorded for Charisma Records boss Tony Stratton-Smith in the Spring of 1974) and the original basic instrumental tracks of God If I Saw Her Now and Sleepfall. Last but by no means least the final track is the unreleased single version of Silver Song, recorded in November 1973 by Ant together with Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins which receives it's first official release.  The re-issue will also feature new liner notes with a detailed account of the making of the album including contributions from John Hackett, co-producer Simon Heyworth and cover artist Peter Cross together with Ant's own memories of the album. Rosanna Arquette also shares her memories of one of her favourite tracks on the album.

Originally released in Germany in 1993, Vile Foamy Ectoplasm reappears in a revised and expanded version covering recordings from 1967 to 2002. Eight additional tracks have been included, featuring Loki (The Thrones of Saturn), whose gong sections were engineered by Frank Zappa, and recordings with Bunk Gardner, The Grandmothers and Don Preston's Akashic Ensemble. Don Preston's more classically slanted pieces make their mark on Works. Highly melodic at times and completely experimental at others, Preston's compositions challenge and reward the listener. Solo piano pieces, electronic works, film soundtrack excerpts and The Bride Stripped Bare performed live by The California EAR Unit are all on display. The most striking track is the 1965 recording Found, an early 4-track composition with Bunk Gardner on flute. No need to describe Don's Homage to F.Z. - it speaks for itself!

The Pretty Things n Mates/Rockin' The Garage ....import CD $18.99

The Pretty Things were formed in the early sixties when former member of the Rolling Stones Dick Taylor hooked up with vocalist Phil May. If some people considered the Stones to have sold out that could never have been said about the Pretty Things. The band performed a down and dirty form of rhythm and blues and even managed to secure a number of hit singles in Don’t Bring Me Down and Rosalyn.  Later in the sixties the band recorded what many consider to be the bands masterpiece SF Sorrow a form of rock opera which pre dated the Who's Tommy.  The band continued through the seventies still led by Phil May and briefly broke up but re formed on the back of renewed interest in RnB in the early eighties.  This live recording made at a gig in late 1992 features the band led by the ever present Phil May going through a tight and concise set of garage classics including 96 Tears, I Want Candy and Louie Louie ably aided and abetted by their "Mates" who include The Inmates and Procol Harum's Matthew Fisher.

Quicksilver Messenger Service/Live at the Avalon Ballroom San Francisco September 9th 1966 ....import CD $18.99

Quicksilver Messenger Service is considered to be one of the most important bands to come from the San Francisco music scene of the sixties along with their contemporaries The Grateful Dead and The Jefferson Airplane.  This early period performance of the band was captured at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco on the 9th of September 1966.The Avalon Ballroom was one of the most important venues in San Francisco operated by Chet Helms and his Family Dog Productions. Amongst the highlights here are the songs Pride of Man which would grace the bands debut album some eighteen months later and also Mona, a key track from the 1969 album Happy Trails. Two other tracks heavily associated with Quicksilver Messenger Service also find their way into the set and they are Babe I'm Gonna Leave You and Codeine. There is also a twenty minute plus version of Hoochie Coochie Man which highlights the musical interplay of the band and their jamming skills.

The original line up was guitarists John Cippolina and Gary Duncan alongside drummer Greg Elmore, bassist David Frieberg and vocalist Jim Murray. Originally vocalist Dino Valenti was also in line to become a member however he was arrested and jailed on drugs charges whilst the band was still in its formative stages.

By the time of this recording on February 4th 1967 Quicksilver Messenger Service were attracting a great deal of attention from both critics and fans alike. Another performance from the Fillmore in San Francisco, this recording comes just two days after another release in this series of live recordings from Quicksilver Messenger Service. This recording while being a single disc contains many highlights including superb versions of You Don’t Love Me and A Fool For You. Whilst not radically different from the set of the 4th of February although shorter the set does include Gold and Silver, Walkin’ Blues, I Hear You Knocking and All Night Worker and shows the band were flexible and able to put together a set that highlighted their musical dexterity and also their choice of material although the performances are different.

Radius is the band formed by respected musician Geoff Serle. The band first came into existence in 1987 and since that time has played many concerts and even appeared on television on the BBC Jazz programme Jazz Today. The band has also released a number of highly regarded and critically well received albums including Sightseeing, Elevation, There Is No Peace and Civilizations.  Another key member of the band is David Cross who will be familiar to fans of King Crimson as David was a member of the band and featured on a number of albums released by King Crimson during the seventies including Larks Tongues In Aspic, Starless and Bible Black and USA.  A Round Radius is the latest album from the band which will be of interest to both fans of Geoff Serle who has an extensive catalogue of releases and David Cross and of course fans who have come to David Cross through his work with King Crimson and has more recently developed a strong solo career.

The Reasoning/The Awakening ....import CD $17.99

The Reasoning were born out of necessity. Necessity to play and necessity to bring music to people who desired more than just rock and more than just prog. The band formed in October 2005 after Matthew Cohen left prog band Magenta earlier that year. He quickly established an experienced line up of musicians and set about writing songs. Within a short period of time things fell into place, the material started to flow and The Reasoning welcomed on board a truly exceptional talent in the form of multi award winning singer Rachel Jones, who had previously fronted Karnataka, and has won Best Female singer for the Classic Rock Society for an unprecedented 4 consecutive years.  The Reasoning also boasts the vocal talents of Dylan Thompson and Gareth Jones. Their incredible understanding of harmonies and dynamics makes the band's sound one to behold. Along with Lee Wright and Vinden Wylde, this band knows how to play and entertain.  Their debut album, mixed by Dave Meegan (U2, Marillion), is due for release in March 2007 through Comet Music and a special guest appearance by Steve Rothery (Marillion) has ensured that the buzz surrounding this band is already formidable.  The association with well-known industry names doesn't end there, however. Liz Prendergast (Blue Horses) has also contributed to the album – and with the band's powerful image captured by the talents of photographer Paul Harries (Nirvana, Muse, Evanescence, Marilyn Manson), this is undoubtedly a Reasoning to be reckoned with.

Refugee/Live in Concert - Newcastle City Hall 1974 ....import CD $17.99

Refugee was the band formed by Patrick Moraz, Lee Jackson and Brian Davison in 1973 and was quickly established in the UK and Europe helped in part due to both Jackson and Davison having previously been founder members of the hugely successful progressive rock band The Nice. Refugee however also had a resident keyboard virtuoso in Patrick Moraz. Patrick had previously been in the band Mainhorse when he was approached by the two former Nice members to form what would become Refugee. The band soon attracted the attention of Charisma Records who had previously signed The Nice. Refugee recorded just one studio album which was released to unanimously positive reviews in early 1974. The band looked set to go on to bigger and better things when Patrick Moraz received an offer to join Yes.   More recently a cassette was found containing a live performance of the band.   That tape became the basis for this new live album.  Previous bootleg releases are of a lower quality and this release has been cleaned up and remastered for release with the full co-operation of the members of the band and the story behind the discovery of the tape and the successful restoration of this tape is outlined in the sleeve notes written by Martin Hanson who has written the definitive biography of the Nice entitled Hang On To A Dream.  Tracks include Ritt Mickley, Papillon, Grand Canyon Suite and Someday all of which featured on Refugee's debut studio album. Other tracks include the previously unreleased Refugee Jam and the Nice classic The Diamond Hard Blue Apples Of The Moon.  With the recent re mastered Patrick Moraz solo catalogue receiving positive critical and commercial success along with a positive move towards progressive rock in general this live album will certainly be highly anticipated by the large and dedicated Patrick Moraz and progressive rock fan base.

Refugee was seen by the British music press at least as an attempt to revive the legendary British progressive rock band The Nice. While two thirds of The Nice (Lee Jackson and Brian Davison) were involved in Refugee the addition of Swiss born keyboard virtuoso Patrick Moraz ensured that the project whilst having the progressive ideals of The Nice was in fact something altogether different.  The band initially came together in late 1973 and following rehearsals the band recorded their only album the self titled Refugee which generally received excellent reviews. The album was released on the Charisma label which was certainly behind the project as the band departed on a worldwide tour in promotion of the album. All was going well for the band and plans were being laid for a follow up album until rock supergroup Yes came calling looking for a replacement for the recently departed Rick Wakeman. In all honesty there were few candidates who would have been capable of filling Wakeman's shoes in Yes however Patrick Moraz was certainly more than capable and accepted the offer he couldn't refuse and Refugee became a one album band when Moraz departed in 1974. The Refugee album has never received an official release on CD in the UK and was briefly available as a costly semi legal release in the Far East. Tracks include the extended pieces Credo and Grand Canyon Suite and also Papillon and Ritt Mickley. Specially remastered for CD personally by Patrick Moraz.

Soft Heap was the personal acronym for an assemblage of old friends throughout 1978. Bass guitarist Hugh Hopper and saxophonist Elton Dean (1950-2006) began their long musical partnership during their days with the classic Soft Machine quartet. Keyboardist Alan Gowen (1947-1981) and drummer Pip Pyle (1945-2006) became friends when their respective bands, Gilgamesh and Hatfield & The North, coalesced for special concerts in 1973. Apart from their eponymous record, Soft Heap only gave two concerts in London prior to Alan and Pip reconvening to carry on as National Health. Fortunately, their appearance at London's then premier jazz club, The Phoenix, was recorded onto reel-to-reel tape by audience member Roy Wilbraham. It preserves a striking set of compositions played with panache, beginning with a tender reading of Elton's "Fara" and climaxing with an exhilarating chase through "One For Lee." The recording also reveals a hitherto unreleased composition, Alan Gowen's "Sleeping House." This full length CD is one tasty listening experience, for those with a soft spot for Soft Heap, to sink their teeth into ~ Al Dente style!

Soft Machine/Alive In Paris 1970 ....import DVD $27.99

This DVD captures THE Canterbury Sound legends Soft Machine live in France filmed at a concert for French television in 1970. The line up of the band at the time of this concert included, Mike Ratledge, Robert Wyatt, Hugh Hopper, Elton Dean and Lyn Dobson. The concert took place on the 2nd of March 1970 at the Theatre de la Musique in Paris. This rare footage has only recently been rediscovered and as such is a rare insight into one of the classic British genre defining bands of the sixties and seventies captured at their creative height. Originally recorded and released in 1981 this soundtrack recording has always been a much sought after recording with Rick's large and dedicated fan base despite faring not so well with critics.  This recording has been unavailable for some time and has been re-mastered for this release.

Filmed for a Rock television special in Sweden in 1980 this is a rare outing for Rick Wakeman and the English Rock Ensemble in the eighties. The band which included vocalist Ashley Holt and drummer Tony Fernandez (who are still with The English Rock Ensemble in 2008). This performance includes the songs Catherine Parr, The No Earthly Connection Medley, Anne Boleyn and the Journey To The Centre Of The Earth Medley. This DVD has previously been available as part of the boxed set The Rick Wakeman Video Vault.   Amazing live performance capturing Rick and his band going thru their paces in 1980.  Footage is so rare even Rick himself forgot it existed!  Comes with a ltd edtion companion audio CD.  Sound specially remastered for this CD edition.  If you only own one Rick Wakeman DVD it should be this one.

New York State Of Mind was recorded live at The Lone Star in 1994 while Leslie was promoting his then new album of Dodgin' The Dirt. The performance features two tracks from the album; Whiskey Train and the Billy Joel cover New York State of Mind. Billy Joel of course was a friend of Leslie's and grew up with him in Long Island where the two played in various competing bands. Other tracks included in this live set are Mississippi Queen, Never In My Life, Blood Of The Sun and Nantucket Sleighride.

Keep Out We’re Toxic was recorded in 1999 with Snowy's band the White Flames. Considered to be one of his most powerful albums by his large and dedicated fan base Keep Out - We Are Toxic finds Snowy working his way through an excellent set of well written modern blues and R n B songs. This release has been unavailable for some time and this particular re issue boasts two previously unreleased instrumental tracks from the White Flames Instrumental Sessions.

Pam & Gary Windo/Avant Gardeners ....import CD $18.99

Pam and Gary Windo were coupled in spirit with a private passion for the musical road less traveled. During their marriage, Gary taught Pam how to approach the piano as an "expressive extension of life," the aesthetic which informed his mastery of the tenor saxophone. Their mutual support flowered into numerous compositions for various recording projects, while journeys into the realm of free improvisation remained private. In 1976 an opportunity to perform at the Maidstone College of Art as a duo allowed them to bring along the rhythm section from the Brotherhood of Breath, bassist Harry Miller and drummer Louis Moholo for a set. Gary captured this concert by placing on stage a consumer reel-to-reel tape recorder and stereo microphone. In addition, an extraordinary private home session with the magnificent percussionist from Ovary Lodge, Frank Perry, was recorded. Reel Recordings has meticulously remastered and edited forty minutes of explosive and exploratory episodes of moments frozen in time. With friends in tow, the extant recordings of Gary and Pam Windo soaring in improvisational flight, with gale force winds in their slipstream can now be experienced. Avant Gardeners is a vital, visceral listen rooted in love and passion.
