When Robyn Ayling started Voiceprint a few years ago, he did so out of a love of the peak period of progressive music. He started by re-releasing material that was long out of print. But as the label expanded he looked for new things by the artists that helped create that peak period. And so Voiceprint expanded to develop Blueprint, Resurgence and, most recently, Folkprint as well.

Steve Hackett/Spectral Mornings ....import DVD $27.99

The bulk of the content on this DVD was taken from a performance filmed on the 8th of November 1978 for German television. The concert recording was the last date on the hugely successful tour although only the fourteenth concert the band had played so from a historical point of view this was right at the start of Steve's solo career and as such captures a moment in time.  The band performed a shortened set for the television cameras and it has been mastered in the NTSC format in order that American and Japanese fans may also now enjoy this historical performance.  This DVD was originally available as a VHS tape and briefly as a DVD.  As an added bonus we have included tracks filmed at the same time as this performance but for some reason these tracks were not included in the broadcast. Karl Jenkins and Mike Ratledge both have a number of things in common. Primarily both were members of that revered British band Soft Machine and both are composers of note. Karl Jenkins is perhaps best known for his album Adiemus which was a massive international hit which has spawned a number of successful follow up albums.  Both musicians have also been involved in the composition and production of what is known as "Library music" for a great many years. This genre of music has been in existence for many years and involves the composition and recording of music for film and television which can then be taken "Off the Shelf" for various film and television programmes. It can also be specially commissioned music for specific projects.  Movement was originally recorded for Rouge Music in 1982 and due to the connection to the two musicians this album has been popular with fans of Soft Machine and of course fans of the individual talents of both Mike Ratledge and Karl Jenkins.  Tracks include, Breakneck, Clockwork Racer, Pulse No. 3 and Penny Farthing.   Some Shufflin' is part of the series of recordings released under the title Music For TV and Film which as the series title suggests seeks to release these specially recorded pieces of music to a wider audience. Anthony Phillips/Ahead of the Field ....import CD $18.99

As many fans of Ant's music will know Ant has been involved for many years in the composition and production of "Library" music. This music is music which is normally commissioned for film and television projects and over the years Anthony Phillips has been responsible for a great many recordings in what has become a legitimate genre of music and sought out by his fans.  Ahead of The Field is an album of music originally recorded in 1985 and is released as part of the series of recordings Music For TV and Film. The music contained on this album has been long admired by Ant's large and dedicated fan base receiving only a limited release when it was originally recorded in the eighties. Tracks include; High Potential, Stress Factor, Data, Express and Time Runner.

Anthony Phillips/Sail The World ....import CD $18.99

As many fans of Anthony Phillips will know Ant has spent a great many years recording music for film and television programmes and much of this music is extremely popular both with Ant's fan base and beyond.  Sail The World was originally released in 1994 and features music composed and recorded by Ant for the television coverage of the Whitbread Round The World Yacht Race. The album has been unavailable for some time and has now been re mastered to form part of the current series of Anthony Phillips reissues.

Jack Bruce/Rope Ladder To The Moon ....import DVD $27.99

Jack Bruce remains the greatest bass player in the entire history of rock ‘n' roll. He became a legend because of his association with Cream, still one of the most extraordinary bands ever to grace the stage.  But his own story is even more extraordinary. Born amid the slums of Glasgow, known as the Gorbals, his musical talent was quickly recognised and he attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music where he played the cello and keyboards. Then he discovered jazz ....and rock ‘n' roll. Although Cream did not immediately bring the financial rewards some people imagine, after the group broke up in 1968 he was able to buy a large island off the Scottish coast. Some rags to riches story!!  With Cream he also discovered he was a considerable composer - many of the group's famous hits were written by him - so it was no surprise when in 1970 he released a jazz-orientated LP of his own compositions called Songs for a Tailor.   This 55 minute film, made at the same time, takes Jack from the Gorbals, via Cream, to his island called Sanda, playing the cello, the sitar and thundering away on the organ of the Albert Hall in London, while featuring many of the tracks from his LP. With his strong socialist principles - his father had been a member of the Communist party - Jack Bruce himself provides the striking commentary. "What kind of a society do we want?" it begins.....  Originally shown on the BBC in 1971, this critically acclaimed film has been restored to something approaching its former glory and reminds us yet again what a great musician Jack Bruce is.

Ginger Baker and African Friends/Live in Berlin Germany 1978 ....import CD $18.99

Following the breakup of Airforce in early 1971 Ginger moved to Africa and built his own recording studio in Nigeria. At this point musically however Ginger was incredibly prolific working with Fela Ransome Kuti and also his own band Salt. He also recorded his own solo album Stratavarious. In 1974 Ginger returned to rock music with the Baker Gurvitz Army who over the next two years produced three studio albums and toured extensively.   In November 1978 after a short period setting up his own Polo Club (something that still interests Ginger to this day) Ginger found himself in Berlin for a concert with his old friend Fela Anikulapo Kuti and Africa 70 at the Berlin Jazzfest.  The three tracks contained on this album are a magnificent blend of styles and one which went down exceedingly well with the audience although best described as a jam the music is never boring or self indulgent. This high quality recording is a fine testament to the pairing of Fela and Africa 70 and Ginger Baker and captures a real moment in time where the language is music and the currency is virtuosity.  The recordings featured in the Official Ginger Baker Bootleg Series are sure to become collector's items and are all sanctioned by Ginger Baker.

Ginger Baker's Energy/Live in Milan Italy 1980 ....import double CD $24.99

This recording is sourced from a performance from Ginger Baker and Energy which took place in Milan Italy recorded on March 28th 1980. The band had a more blues based rock sound than Ginger's more recent eclectic mix of world music and jazz. The style of the band however was very much appreciated in Europe with fans very receptive to the virtuoso playing of guitarist John Mizaroli. This double album captures the complete concert with highlights being the Pops Staples song Lost Your Love My Love. Another highlight is Ginger Baker's drum solo which closes disc one of this set proving that in the right hands drum solos are anything but boring.  The second disc of this set includes just two tracks No Magic law and an extended workout based around the Elvis Presley hit That's Alright Mama.  The recordings featured in the Official Ginger Baker Bootleg Series are sure to become collector's items and are all sanctioned by Ginger Baker.

Blue Floyd/Live in Pennsylvania 21 Jan 2000 ....import triple CD $34.99

Blue Floyd is a conglomeration of former/current members of the Allman Bros, Gov't Mule and the Black Crowes performing blues interpretations of Pink Floyd songs and while the concept may sound strange in reality the mix goes down just right. The band have been in existence for around ten years and during that time have built up a large and enthusiastic fan base for the bands unique blend of styles. Whilst the band have an almost fluid line up with members coming and going the concept remains a steady one and also one that is proving extremely popular in the live arena.  This concert recording took place in January 2000 and features the line up of Allen Woody - guitar, bass & vocals, Matt Abts - drums, Marc Ford - guitar & vocals, Johnny Neel - keyboards, harmonica & vocals Berry Oakley - bass, percussion & vocals.  As well as the obvious blues workouts the band also include their own particular take on the Floyd classics including; Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Fearless, Set the Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, Wish You Were Here, Sheep and Money.  Blue Floyd are as you can imagine a true musical experience where one genre of music meets another and finds a place to accommodate both styles.

Weather Report/Live in Hamburg 1971 ....import DVD $27.99

Weather Report was established in the latter half of 1970 by Austrian-born keyboardist, Jo Zawinul, and tenor and soprano sax player, Wayne Shorter, a long-time Miles collaborator. In the band's first incarnation they were joined by Miroslav Vitous (basses), Alphonse Mouzon (drums) and Airto Moreira (percussion). Together they recorded the band's eponymous first album in March 1971. Eschewing the populist, indeed almost obligatory, contemporary requirement for an electric guitar - irrespective of the musical genre, Weather Report's continually evolving personnel nevertheless remained rooted in the same instrumental line-up though, in later years, often reduced by the absence of a percussionist to a quartet.  The direction that Weather Report's musical journey would take had been clearly signposted during Zawinul and Shorter's orientation with Miles. Nevertheless, the new course charted by their debut Weather Report album featured acoustic bass and no synthesizers. Not long after the release of the album, Mouzon and Moreira departed and were replaced by Eric Gravatt on drums and Dom Um Romao on percussion. It is this line up, responsible for an altogether earthier sounding offering, that went on to record the band's sophomore release, I Sing The Body Electric, and which is featured performing a set for groundbreaking German TV show Beat Club that is made commercially available for the first time on this DVD.

No Good Sinners/My Demo ....import CD $18.99

Edinburgh based 'No Good Sinners' is the brainchild of former Park Bench Social Club lead vocalist Aidan Curran. Featuring some of the UK's foremost folk, roots and rock musicians.  No Good Sinners mixes roots music, soul and funk with a jam band philosophy reminiscent of acts like The Band, Grateful Dead, Little Feat and Beck while maintaining an original, unique sound.  Aidan Curran (Vocals & Guitar) was originally from Vancouver Island. Since moving to the UK in 2006 to study at Newcastle University, Aidan's songs and guitar playing have brought a strong flavour of bluegrass and blues to the British music scene with acts like many influential musicians such as The Park Bench Social Club and Luke Plumb.  Eliza Carthy - Fiddle Multi-award winning 'British Folk Icon' Eliza Carthy and twice-nominated for a prestigious Nationwide Mercury Prize, during a 15-year career she has become one of the most dazzling and recognised folk musicians of a generation.  They are joined by Dave Donnelly on Bass and Willy Molleson on Drums - both musicians having played with several prestigious acts, too many to mention here!

Anthony Phillips/Private Parts and Pieces 5 & 6 ....import double CD $21.99

The Private parts and Pieces series of recordings began in 1979 with the release of the first volume. Since that time there have been regular follow ups making the series a collectible one for fans of Anthony Phillips more subdued side.  Volume Five in the series entitled Twelve due to the fact that it contained twelve themed tracks all named after the twelve months of the year and pieces solely played on twelve string guitar. The album was originally recorded in 1984 and released in 1985. It has also been unavailable for some time making this a welcome reissue.  Volume Six in the series is entitled Ivory Moon and was originally released in 1986. The album was also sub titled Piano Pieces 1971-1985 and as the title suggests features Anthony Phillips piano playing and piano themed pieces. Once again this album has been unavailable for some time making this reissue a welcome one.

Anthony Phillips/Private Parts and Pieces 7 & 8 ....import double CD $21.99

Volume Seven in the Private Parts and Pieces series is entitled Slow Waves Soft Stars and was originally released in 1987 and was the first of the Private Parts and Pieces series to be simultaneously released on vinyl and the then new format of compact disc. Containing the tracks Beachrunner, End Of the Affair, The Golden Pathway and Behind The Waterfall this album like many of the others in the series has been unavailable for some time making this release all the more welcome.  Volume Eight in the series is titled New England and was the first of the Private parts and Pieces albums to be released in the nineties with the original release being in 1992. The album features the tracks Infra Dig, Sanctuary and the New England Suite parts one through to three. Another welcome reissue following a period of unavailability.

Publishers with Music Libraries, or Production Music Libraries as they are now known, commissioned composers to write music specifically for this media. At that time, the Publishers were all members of a Licensing Society, and the Library music could thus be made available at affordable rates. Library Music did provide - and still does - a great variety of musical compositions not available on commercial records.  Amongst the best known of these are some members of the bands Soft Machine and Curved Air, and Anthony Phillips, co-founder of Genesis. Kevin Peek a major session musician and member of classical/rock band Sky also recorded many pieces of music for both film and TV. Many of these Library recordings had only a limited release at the time, making them quite rare and very collectable for the fans of a particular artist.  Daryl Way will be best known as the founder member of British progressive rock band Curved Air. With them Daryl recorded a number of best selling albums and also a hit single with back Street Luv. He was also the founder of another post Curved Air band in the seventies called Wolf. Daryl has recorded a number of solo albums and is a member of the re formed Curved Air.   Classical Rock is an album of pieces recorded for film and television and reflects both the classical and rock elements of his composing and playing. It goes without saying that fans of Curved Air will also be interested in this instrumental album. Kevin Peek is a highly regarded session guitarist having worked with a great many musicians on sessions over the years notably for Cliff Richard. He was also a founder member of the Classical Rock band Sky and recorded many best selling albums with them. Still Waters is an album comprising of instrumental pieces Kevin wrote and recorded for film and television. As a whole the music works well together and as an instrumental album many rock fans will enjoy the breadth and depth of style contained on the album.

Ginger Baker's Airforce/Live in Offenbach Germany 1970 ....import double CD $24.99

Apart from the two official Airforce releases live recordings of Ginger Baker's Airforce are extremely rare and this recording is no different. This is an audience recording of Airforce in Offenbach Germany on December the 18th 1970. This performance captures the second incarnation of Airforce following the departure of Steve Winwood and Chris Wood who had returned to Traffic by this time. It is however a lively performance and is actually one of the final Airforce performances before the band split and as such is highly collectable and historic. The performance features amongst others the Cream track Sunshine Of Your Love and Ginger's contribution to the Blind Faith album Do What You Like alongside tracks from the second Airforce album including We Free Kings, Let Me Ride, Toady and 12 Gates Of The City.  The recordings featured in the Official Ginger Baker Bootleg series are sure to become collector's items and are all sanctioned by Ginger Baker.

Ginger Baker and Salt/Live in Munich Germany 1972 ....import double CD $24.99

This recording dates from a concert performance in Munich in 1972 and was the first musical outing in Europe for Ginger alongside Salt since Ginger Baker's Airforce some two years previously. The show was billed as Ginger Baker and Salt "Africa Now" Invites Drum Battle. The show was filmed for German television and broadcast shortly after and repeated a year later in 1973. The line up for this performance was Ginger Baker : drums, Steve Gregory: tenor sax, flute, Bud Beadle: saxes, Tunde Koboje: bass, Berkley Jones: guitar, Laolu Akins: african drums, Kehinde Lijadu: vocals, Taiwo Lijadu: vocals, and special guest: Art Blakey: drums.

Baker Gurvitz Army/Live in Milan 76 ....import CD $18.99

The Baker Gurvitz Army came into existence when former Gun and Three man Army members Paul and Adrian Gurvitz joined forces with legendary drummer Ginger Baker in 1974. The Baker Gurvitz Army was the first real musical project for Ginger Baker since the short-lived band Salt in 1972 and Ginger Baker's Airforce some two years prior to that. The band released their first album the self titled Baker Gurvitz Army in late 1974 and the album sold well enough to break in to the American charts. The band went on to record two further studio albums including Elysian Encounter in 1975 and Hearts On Fire in 1976. The band also featured vocalist Snips who had previously been with British band Sharks and keyboardist Peter Lemer formerly of Barbara Thompson's Paraphernalia and Seventh Wave.   This live recording which forms part of the Official Ginger Baker Bootleg Series was recorded in Milan on the 23rd of March 1976 during the tour to promote what would turn out to be the bands final studio album Hearts On Fire. The set list at this time reflecting the desire to promote the album included four tracks from the album including Hearts On Fire, Night People, Thirsty For The Blues and neon Lights. There are also two tracks from Elysian Encounter (People and Time) and two from the bands self titled debut (Inside Of me and Memory Lane). Interestingly enough at this point in the bands career they elected to include two Cream songs in the set and both Sunshine Of Your Love and White Room are also included here.

Gary Duncan & Quicksilver/Strange Trim ....import CD $18.99

Gary Duncan was a founder member of the legendary San Franciscan band Quicksilver Messenger Service. For a period from the mid eighties through to the mid nineties and beyond Gary Duncan led his own band Quicksilver and released a number of albums. These albums are now being made available again once more at the behest of Gary Duncan having been unavailable for some time.  Strange Trim is the latest Quicksilver album to be released following a period of unavailability. At the time of its original release the album contained all new material including the tracks El Dorado, Strange Trim and the instrumental track Bubba Jeans. The album also features three live tracks Inner City Blues, A Night In Tunisia and Deja Voodoo.

Songs For Luca 2 is as the title suggests the follow up to the original release Songs For Luca released in 2003. Mack Maloney/Sky Club ....import CD $18.99

Best-selling science fiction and adventure author Mack Maloney makes his recording debut with Sky Club, an album of original and cover songs that coincides with the release of his latest book.  Sky Club is a concept album that tells the story of a space traveler stranded on a deserted planet with only the music on his iPod to keep him company. The iPod contains the ill-fated traveler's favorite tunes, by bands such as The Who, Cream, Jars of Clay and Dream Patrol, along with two original tracks. Rowland Salley is an artist from the American Midwest. He has played or recorded with Bobby Gentry, the Traum Brothers, Ian and Sylvia, Joan Baez, John Prine, Shawn Colvin, Lucinda Williams, Maria Muldaur and others. He has been bassist with Chris Isaak & Silvertone since 1985. His songs have been recorded by various artists. "Killing the Blues" has been recorded by John Prine (Pink Cadillac and Anthology), and by Shawn Colvin (Cover Girl). Robert Plant and Alison Krauss included it on Raising Sand, which won five Grammy awards in 2009.  When the band made three successful seasons of the Chris Isaak Show, a Showtime television production based upon quirky and comical adventures of their rock and roll band, Rowland recorded a dozen of his own songs for a new album entitled "Killing the Blues". The music is a mixture of folk and blues of American roots. He plays bass, acoustic and electric guitars, ukulele and sings along with a classic backing band.

Andi Sex Gang/Bram Stoker's Dracula ....import double CD $24.99

Bram Stoker's Dracula has become one of the best known works of horror fiction to ever have been published. In 1897 when the novel was first released to the public, no one at the time could have known the impact that the story of this vampire would make and that the after effects would continue for over 100 years. Inspired in part by the true life Vlad Tepes (aka Vlad the Impaler, Vlad Dracula), the character of Dracula would make make his way into films beginning with the unofficial adaptation "Nosferatu" in 1922 and the first official take "Dracula" in 1931.  Now in 2010, musician/spoken word performance artist Andi Sex Gang brings Bram Stoker's undead creation to a new medium. Following Stoker's original texts, Sex Gang narrates the story of Dracula along with incidental music created especially for this project. Anthony Phillips/Sides ....import double CD $24.99

Anthony Phillips is perhaps best known as the original guitarist in Genesis. Ant left the band in 1970 following the release of Trespass. He began his solo career in earnest in the mid seventies with the release of the album The Geese and The Ghost. Since then he has released a number of critically acclaimed albums and forged a loyal and devoted fan base.   In 2008 Anthony Phillips reissued his first two albums in re mastered format.   The latest album from Anthony Phillips back catalogue to receive the re mastered treatment is Sides.  Sides was originally released in 1979 and features performances from other progressive rock legends such as Mike Giles and John G Perry alongside Ant. The album is possibly the most rock oriented album to come from Anthony Phillips and includes the tracks Nightmare and Um and Aargh.  The album has been unavailable for some time and this reissue will follow on from the reissue of The Geese and the Ghost and Wise After The Event and appeal to the large and dedicated fan base one would expect from a former member of Genesis.

Gary Duncan with Crawfish of Love/Snake Language ....import CD $18.99

Gary Duncan was a founder member of the legendary San Franciscan band Quicksilver Messenger Service. Between 1965 and 1975 the band played literally thousands of concerts and attracted massive critical acclaim and along with The Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane were one of the most influential bands to come out of San Francisco in the sixties. Gary played on many albums released by Quicksilver Messenger Service including Quicksilver Messenger Service, Happy Trails, Quicksilver and Solid Silver. Although the band effectively split in the mid seventies Gary has quite often along with David Freiberg reformed Quicksilver Messenger Service and toured the world usually with Jefferson Starship which also numbers David Freiberg as a member.  For a period from the mid eighties through to the mid nineties and beyond Gary Duncan led his own band Quicksilver and released a number of albums. These albums are now being made available again once more at the behest of Gary Duncan having been unavailable for some time.  This album is collaboration between Gary Duncan of Quicksilver messenger Service fame and the band Crawfish of Love. The albums features tracks that Gary had been performing with Quicksilver including Maiden Voyage and Senor Blues alongside other material such as the title track of the album Snake Language which is split into two parts.

Quicksilver/Six String Voodoo ....import CD $18.99

Six String Voodoo was originally released in 2008 and features six new Gary Ducnan songs including Katmandu, Pharaoh's Dance and Don't Be Lonely alongside a cover of the Thelonious Monk song Round Midnight. The album whilst giving the impression of a Gary Duncan solo album is in effect the new Quicksilver.

Live '07 captures the band in familiar live territory and finds Quicksilver adopting a more jazz direction although retaining that element that made Quicksilver the band of old. Tracks include Maiden Voyage written by Herbie Hancock and Round Midnight written by Thelonious Monk.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Rolling Stones and More/Live in Knebworth 1976 ....import DVD $27.99

The Knebworth Festivals that took place between 1974 and 1979 were seen as some of the most exciting one day festival bills in the seventies. The Festivals were masterminded by promoter Freddie Bannister who was the man behind the famous Bath Festivals of 1969 and 1970 and also the Lincoln Folk Festival in 1971.
The 1976 Knebworth Fayre was a particularly exciting affair as the headline band was to be The Rolling Stones. The event took place on the 21st of August 1976 at the height of an unusually hot summer in the UK. Negotiations had been taking place since the early part of the year and an approach was made to the Rolling Stones. The Stones had already announced a series of concerts during the summer of 1976 in Europe which included concerts at London's Earls Court. An unprecedented demand for tickets saw more than a million applications for the tickets to these concerts. Knebworth allowed those who weren't successful in acquiring tickets a chance to see the Stones in the delightful surroundings of Knebworth Park.  Also on the Bill were The Don Harrison Band, Hot Tuna Todd Rundgren's Utopia, Lynyrd Skynyrd and 10cc who played their final concert that day with the original line up. The DVD also includes rare footage from the festival featuring 10cc, Lynyrd Skynyrd and of course the Rolling Stones who played one of the longest live sets of their career that hot August night in 1976. In this in depth interview promoter Freddie Bannister casts his eye over the performances and gives his critical review of the concert and the events leading up to the concerts which included providing tickets for the men's singles tennis final at Wimbledon for Mick Jagger. Gary Duncan & Quicksilver/Shapeshifter Vol 1 & 2 ....import double CD $21.99

Gary Duncan was a founder member of the legendary San Franciscan band Quicksilver Messenger Service. Between 1965 and 1975 the band played literally thousands of concerts and attracted massive critical acclaim and along with The Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane were one of the most influential bands to come out of San Francisco in the sixties. Gary played on many albums released by Quicksilver Messenger Service including Quicksilver Messenger Service, Happy Trails, Quicksilver and Solid Silver. Although the band effectively split in the mid seventies Gary has quite often along with David Freiberg reformed Quicksilver Messenger Service and toured the world usually with Jefferson Starship which also numbers David Freiberg as a member.  For a period from the mid eighties through to the mid nineties and beyond Gary Duncan led his own band Quicksilver and released a number of albums. These albums are now being made available again once more at the behest of Gary Duncan having been unavailable for some time.   Shape Shifter volumes 1&2 was the first album to bear the Quicksilver name for ten years when it was originally released in 1996. The album whilst being a new Quicksilver album and an album that was in keeping with the time in which it was written and recorded also bears the hallmark that is unmistakably Quicksilver. Shapeshifter Volumes 1&2 was originally available as a double album but more recently has been available as two single albums. This new reissue brings the two volumes together once more as they were on the original release.  On this album Gary Duncan is joined by amongst others fellow Quicksilver Messenger Service member David Freiberg and former Sly and the Family Stone drummer Greg Errico. Live At Sweetwater is Quicksilver led by founding members Gary Duncan and also David Freiberg. Although a more recent recording of the band the current line up are as musically adventurous as the original band and really stretch out on songs like Maiden Voyage which clocks in at over eleven minutes and Inner City which breaks the thirteen minute barrier and certainly musically as good as anything the original band recorded or performed.

Quicksilver/Live at the Field Stone ....import CD $18.99

Live At Fieldstone was a live recording of the then line up of Quicksilver led by Gary Duncan. Recorded at the Fieldstone Winery in Healdsburg, California. The album was recorded by using two lapel microphones which fed directly into a DAT tape machine and despite the low-fi technical set up the end result is a rather fine live recording. The band included newer material in the set at this time.  This recording has never been available beyond the band's own website.

Remastered from the original video tapes.  Full project co-ordinated by original Director Tony Palmer.  Includes extensive booklet with sleeve notes by Tony Palmer and a specially recorded Director's commentary track giving insights, wisdom and amusing anecdotes.  "I’ve read so much rubbish about 200 Motels over the years that the release of the newly restored film on DVD gives me an opportunity - my first - to correct one or two of the wilder stories about how the film came about and what really happened during the filming.  Apparently – according to a Dutch documentary – when I had quit (which is news to me), I had threatened to wipe the tapes – which is odd, considering I edited all the videotapes myself after completion of filming before handing them over to MGM/UA.  And, crazy though the film seems to be, it does have a certain insight into how 'life on the road' was for many of these rock bands at that time. The fact is also that, here we are, nearly 40 years later, and there is still a huge market/interest for the film. Oh, and by the way, according to several websites devoted to the film, because I had 'been fired' and/or 'quit' (delete whichever you think is applicable) I went off and destroyed the master tapes – which is very odd considering that these very same master tapes are sitting in front of me as I write.   And finally, that as a result of any of the above (you choose which), Frank & I 'never spoke again.' Which is even odder, because a couple of years later when Zappa sued the Royal Albert Hall in London for cancelling a concert in which he had intended to perform the music from 200 Motels, I appeared at the trial in The Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand as Frank Zappa's 'expert witness.' Would Zappa have wanted that had we not stayed friends?  So, forty years on, I’m proud to be associated with the film, proud to have known Frank Zappa, and proud to have stayed his friend, in spite of all the rubbish that others have written about what 'really' happened.  It's impossible not to have a sneaking admiration for a film which self evidently would never have been made had it not been for him and his curious talent." ~ Tony Palmer

Renaissance/Kings & Queens ....import DVD $27.99

Renaissance was the band formed by Jim McCarthy and Keith Relf following the split of the Yardbirds in 1968. The band recorded their first album the self titled Renaissance album in 1969. Following the album's release the band embarked on a series of live dates in Europe and America. In 1970 they also began recording their second album Illusion which received a limited release in Europe in early 1971. By the time the album was released the band had become so fragmented that none of the original members were left in the band! Renaissance would however continue with various line ups until stabilising in the early seventies with the line up that would go on to massive critical and commercial success led by vocalist Annie Haslam.  This DVD features two different line ups of Renaissance. The first two clips come from German TV and feature the original line up performing the tracks Kings And Queens and Island. These are the only known performances captured on film of the original line up performing live albeit in a TV studio. The second piece of footage is even rarer in that it was originally thought that this footage was lost. The footage provides the link between the original line up of Renaissance and the later more successful line up of the mid to late seventies and comes from a line up that lasted a mere three months.  This time the band now feature no original members but two members that would go onto bigger fame in the seventies. John Tout is featured on keyboards and guitarist Mike Dunford play alongside vocalists Terry Crowe and Binky Cullom, bassist Neil Korner and drummer Terry Slade. The band perform Kings and Queens from the first Renaissance album and also tracks from the second Renaissance album Illusion (Golden Threads, Mr Pine and Face of Yesterday) there is also a song never officially recorded by Renaissance, Widdicombe Fair making this release a real find for the large and dedicated Renaissance fan base.

Man/Tapes of the Unexpected ....import DVD $27.99

The footage contained on this DVD comes from German television performances in the seventies. Germany was a fertile ground for Man and the band regularly made the trip to Germany for both concerts and television performances. The earliest performance here features the line up of Mickey Jones, Martin Ace, Clive John, Jeff Jones and Ray Williams. The opening track 2:30 Definitely was not only a one off but an impromptu performance by the band featuring Martin Ace on harmonica. The second track Brother Arnold's Red and White Striped Tent originally came from the bands second album 2ozs of Plastic With A Hole In The Middle and comes from the same session that produced 2:30 Definitely. Both pieces were filmed in November 1969 and probably represent the earliest film of Man.  The next clip moves forward to April 1971 This time we are treated to full colour performances of two tracks, Daughter Of The Fireplace and Would the Christians Wait... , which had originally appeared on the self titled Man album. Both tracks ably illustrate just how tight the band was as a performing unit and how their almost instinctive jamming style had gelled into something quite special.  The final track featured on this DVD comes from a German television session filmed in November 1971. The performance captured here is Angel Easy, the opening track of the bands most recent studio album, released the week the band performed here before the cameras, entitled Do You Like It Here Now, Are You Settling In.  Man would not return to German television screens until April 1975 when the band played a live concert in the studio to promote their Slow Motion album. These television clips then represent some of the earliest film of Man live in the studio and are now being released officially for the first time in their own right.

Edgar Broughton Band/Edgar Broughton Band ....import DVD $27.99

As the name of this band implies there is a strong connection with that most cherished or progressive rock bands King Crimson. The band was formed by former members of King Crimson in 2002. The initial aim was to play live the music from the King Crimson catalogue that no longer featured in King Crimson's live performances. This CD was the bands first release and formed the bulk of the bands live set at the time.  The line up of the band was made up of founder members of King Crimson Mike Giles and Ian McDonald. Gong Acid Mothers was the latest chapter in the seemingly endless regenerating story of Gong.  Following a concert with Gong at the end of 2001 In Blackburn of all places Daevid Allen caught site of a Gong poster advertising the concert alongside a poster advertising a performance of the ballet Swan Lake. It set Daevid thinking and changes were afoot within Gong. It was this particular incident coupled with Daevid receiving a love letter that convinced him that perhaps it was time to once again shed the skin and move onto the next phase of Gong, which would turn out to be Gong Acid Mothers which would see collaboration between Gong and the band Acid Mothers Temple. The collaboration proved a fruitful one and a well received album was released in late 2003.   Acid Mothers Gong Live At The Uncon 2006 is the DVD offering of a magical combination of musicians coming together to push the boundaries of music. The successful gathering of the tribes in Holland in 2006 saw the extended Gong Family perform in front of the faithful. This DVD features the line up Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Josh Pollock, Kawabata Makoto, Higashi Hiroshi, Yoshida Tatsuya, Atsushi Tsuyama.

Daevid Allen/Brainville at the Knitting Factory ....import CD $18.99

Brainville was the band formed by Daevid Allen, Hugh Hopper and the late Pip Pyle, all revered musicians within the Canterbury Scene. The band have built up a good groundswell of support over the years that it has been a going concern which is usually when the three members had a gap in their otherwise busy schedules. Sadly founder member Pip Pyle died in the late summer of 2006 however Daevid Allen and Hugh Hopper decided to continue playing concerts with Brainville with a replacement drummer and to this end they have played a number of well received concerts. This album is sourced from a concert that took place at the Knitting Factory venue in New York in 1998. As with any Daevid Allen related release there will be a great deal of interest in the release which will also stretch beyond the Allen fan base into the Canterbury Sound fan base which is also a large and dedicated fan base. This live recording will be a valuable addition to the catalogue of what is in Daevid Allen's own words "The Most eccentric 3 piece jazz rock outfit of the Canterbury school."

Daevid Allen's University of Errors/Plays The Soft Machine ....import DVD $27.99

Daevid Allen as most history books will state was a founder member of The Soft Machine. Whilst with the band Soft Machine became the darlings of the underground music scene and Daevid Allen recorded briefly with the band. This recording taken from a performance at the Gong UNCON in November 2006 features a number of songs performed by the University Of Errors that covers the Soft Machine era that featured Daevid Allen.  The Amsterdam performance was the first time that UofE performed most of this material live since re-recording the songs for their CD "Jet Propelled Photographs" in 2003. It was a very fitting situation as the entire weekend was a celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Daevid's original vision of The Planet Gong in 1966 while a member of The Soft Machine.   University of Errors played on the last night of the 3-Day Amsterdam unConvention. Expectations were high and the band did not disappoint. The performance was professionally filmed and recorded. Mixing and editing were done by Daevid and Michael and Harry Williamson a few months later.

Standard Single DVD edition featuring the full concert.  Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe was made up of four fifths of the "Classic Yes" line up of the seventies. Put together by Jon Anderson, who wanted to get back to the musical ideals made popular by Yes during the bands massively successful albums of the early to mid seventies, the band recorded one self titled album released in 1989, and then embarked on an extensive and hugely successful worldwide tour.  This performance was captured on the American leg of the world tour and finds the band performing not only material from the self titled album but also classic material from Yes including Starship Trooper, Close To The Edge and also And You And I.  The tour was not however without its problems and bassist on the tour Tony Levin was unfortunately taken ill and had to drop out at the last minute to be admitted to hospital. This left the band in dire straits as the tour was put in jeopardy and the band had also scheduled the filming of this particular performance. Enter bassist Jeff Berlin, who had curiously enough like Tony Levin, played with Bill Bruford.   With only a short period of rehearsal Jeff threw himself into the gap vacated by the departed Tony Levin. Jeff's performance, as was the rest of the band, incredible and captured on film for posterity. The film was previously, briefly available on VHS before being deleted.  Now on DVD, this magnificent fan favourite comes in a double digipack with original Roger Dean artwork and also a beautiful DVD photo booklet along with new sleeve notes.  You can now once again—or perhaps for the very first time—experience the splendour and majesty that was the ABWH tour.

Jon Anderson will forever be known as the singer of British rock band Yes, although there have been periods of time when Jon left the band to concentrate on his solo career or collaborations with other artists such as Vangelis.  In 1985 Jon Anderson decided to record a seasonal album and thus 3 Ships was born.  The album contains a number of Christmas classics such as Three Ships, Ding Dong Merrily and Jingle Bells. 2006 edition of the Yes frontman's third solo album. Anderson had released this album just prior to rejoining a reconsituted Yes in 1983 (for the album 90125). The sessions were produced by Tony Visconti (David Bowie) and features guest musicians Jack Bruce (Cream), Clem Clempson (Colosseum), Ian Wallace (King Crimson), Simon Phillips (801, Jeff Beck, Toto) and David Sancious (Bruce Springsteen) among others. This edition adds two bonus tracks to the original track list; "Spider", which was the B-side of the original "Surrender" single and "The Spell," a twelve minute outtake from the "Animation" recording sessions.  Please note this release seems to have been mastered from vinyl and not the original master tapes.

John Payne has more than paid his dues in the rock business over the last twenty five years having worked with a number of high profile artists such as Roger Daltrey singing backing vocals on Roger's album Under A raging Moon. Tony Levin had previously played with Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel and also played on the sessions for John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Double fantasy album. Bruford Levin Upper Extremities or B.L.U.E. as they became known recorded two albums, one self titled studio album released in 1999 and a live album entitled Blue Nights released in 2000. The band was filled out by guitarist David Torn and trumpeter Chris Botti and the music the band performed was an intriguing mix of jazz and rock. Blue Nights is the companion album to the studio debut from B.L.U.E. The album was recorded in 1998 and includes live versions of a number of songs from the debut studio album including Cerulean Sea, and Original Sin. There are also a number of songs that appear only on this album. As a companion album to the studio B.L.U.E. album this live album completes the circle and as a memento for those who witnessed the tour is invaluable.

In 1986 Robert Calvert and Maximum Effect played at the Stars & Stripes venue in Carlisle. The recording was made direct from the mixing desk to a chrome cassette. Amongst the material covered at the concert was solo Calvert material including Acid Rain, Ned Ludd, Lord Of The Hornets and Radio Egypt alongside selected Hawkwind classics associated with Robert such as Orgone Accumulator, Quark Strangeness and Charm, Robot and Damnation Alley.  This recording has been previously available as download but makes its first official outing on CD with this release.

Paul Carrack; Tony Levin; Rupert Hine & Phil Palmer/Spin 1ne 2wo ....import CD $18.99

Spin 1ne 2wo brought together the talents of Rupert Hine, Phil Palmer, Paul Carrack, Tony Levin and Steve Ferrone. All of the musicians had massive experience and had played on hugely successful albums by King Crimson, Mike and the Mechanics, John Lennon, Anthony Phillips, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton and many, many more! The album sees these supremely talented musicians letting off steam and having fun with a collection of rock standards including songs by Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Who and Led Zeppelin.  The album features the songs Kashmir, White Room, All Along The Watchtower, Reelin' In The Years, Angel and Who Are You.  Originally released in 1993 the album has been unavailable for some time and now commands high prices on the collectors market.

Julian Colbeck with Jonathan Cohen/Back to Bach ....import CD $18.99

Julian Colbeck has amassed a massive amount of credibility as a musician over the last thirty plus years. Julian first came to prominence playing keyboards for British rock band Charlie and was with the band through most of their history and has more recently contributed to the band's first album in more than twenty years. In addition to Charlie, Julian has also played live with and recorded for Steve Hackett, Bill Bruford and also played keyboards with Anderson Bruford Wakeman and Howe appearing on the double live album and DVD An Evening of Yes Music Plus.  Back To Bach was originally released in 1992 although it has been unavailable for some time now making this release all the more desirable. The album features re workings of Bach's fuges by Julian Colbeck and Jonathan Cohen with contributions from Mary Hopkin, Steve Hackett (Genesis) and John Keeble (Spandau Ballet).

Troy Donockley/The Madness of Crowds ....import CD $18.99

Troy Donockley delights in throwing people curve balls.  So far he's done it on two albums.  The first, " The Unseen Stream," was a glorious rush of pastoral influence and high folk art.  His second, " The Pursuit Of Illusion," was more individual but way beyond any meaningless attempt to hang a label on.  Now we've his third opus, "The Madness of Crowds," which is the most distinctive yet. It opens with the title track which, within minutes reminds you of either a soundtrack for a lost cut of "Lord of the Rings," music for a high brow BBC 2 documentary or the finest concert hall symphony. In July 1970 Fairport Convention found themselves alongside Matthews Southern Comfort playing at the Maidstone Fiesta an open air concert. This concert was captured on film by the renowned British film director Tony Palmer. The restored film was released on DVD for the first time in 2007.  This CD is the audio portion of the concert performance and captures Fairport's 'Full House' line up at their height. The band performs the song Sir Patrick Spens alongside various jigs and reels and also the song Now Be Thankful which had been released as a single at the time.  Matthews Southern Comfort is also featured performing two songs and at this point in their career just a few months away from a number one single with a cover of Joni Mitchell’s Woodstock. Alongside Ian Matthews the band featured Carl Barnwell, Gordon Huntley, Ray Duffy, Mark Griffiths and Andy Leigh. Songs performed by Matthews Southern Comfort are; My Front Pages and Southern Comfort.   This performance has never been released on CD and as such will appeal to the large and dedicated following that both Fairport Convention and Ian Matthews enjoy.

13th Star is the latest studio offering from Fish and was written and recorded during what was one of the biggest personal upheavals in Fish's life. The album is a dark and reflective album although there is an optimism running throughout the album. The material from the album was premiered during the lengthy European tour to promote the album that stretched from late summer through to early December 2007 and the tracks Circle Line, Square Go, Manchmal and Dark Star will already be familiar to people who saw Fish on tour. In addition to the tour to promote the album which was produced by Calum Malcolm Fish recorded a lengthy interview featuring the album for download as a podcast. The artwork for the album was designed by long time collaborator Mark Wilkinson.

August 2007 will find Fish commencing his latest European tour which will continue through the autumn and finish in December in France. During the tour Fish will release his latest live album Communion.  Communion is a double live CD and was recorded at St Mary's Church, Haddington on the Acoustic Night of the Company Convention August 2006.   The double album is a 19 track set featuring a number of songs never before played live including Tara which also features Fish's daughter Tara on vocals, and rare acoustic versions performed by Fish and his full band plus special guests including Heather Findlay and Angela Gordon from Mostly Autumn and Anne-Marie Helder (ex-Karnataka) on backing vocals.  The album was recorded and produced by Calum Malcolm and is housed in a deluxe 3 panel digipack. The cover artwork was designed by long time Fish and Marillion art director Mark Wilkinson.  Communion is the latest in a series of hugely popular live albums released over the last seventeen years all of which have found favour with the massive Fish fan base.

'Empires Never Last' is the sixth proper Galahad studio album. This is easily Galahad's heaviest, most muscular and guitar orientated album to date. Although a lot darker both musically and lyrically from previous albums the sound is still distinctively Galahad. Keyboards still feature prominently, but the band evokes a more industrial feel at times on this album with its liberal use of sequencers, effects, samples and unusual electronic sounds. There are quieter moments, but these only serve to provide the required light and shade, there are certainly no ballads on ENL!  Empires also features a few special guests including Karl Groom (Threshold) on guitar, Clive Nolan (Arena, Pendragon) on fake dulcimer and Tina Booth (Magenta) on vocals.

The Giles Brothers/1962-1967 ....import CD $18.99

The Giles Brothers are famous for being founders of the band Giles Giles and Fripp, which eventually metamorphosed into King Crimson, one of the giants of Progressive rock. Mike Giles would be a founder of King Crimson along with Robert Fripp, Ian McDonald and Greg Lake. Peter Giles would also join King Crimson briefly in 1970.  The recordings on this album, however, come from a period when the Giles brothers were members of a number of pure pop, R n B and soul influenced bands. Whilst the material is quite unlike anything the Giles brothers were subsequently involved in these recordings are of a historic nature and as individual singles all the tracks are incredibly collectable.   All the tracks come from the personal archives of Peter and Mike Giles and as such are an interesting look into a period of time during the Giles brother's careers that has previously been less than well documented. The recordings have all been re mastered for this release giving them the best possible quality and this release is the first release that gathers together all of these historic performances on one disc.

Both Gordon Giltrap and Rick Wakeman have formidable reputations in the music world each having experienced huge commercial and critical success over the last forty years. The two musicians are also good friends and have long wanted to collaborate together on a project where they can both bring their individual talents to bear. Steve Hillage/Germany 77 ....import DVD $29.99

Steve Hillage first came to prominence as a member of the multi-national rock band Gong. Steve appeared on successful albums such as Angels Egg, You and his final album with the band, Shamal. Steve recorded his first solo album in 1975 entitled Fish Rising. This album was recorded whilst still a member of Gong. Shortly after however, Steve and his partner Miquette Giraudy left Gong embarking on a career that continues to this day under the name System Seven.  In 1976 Steve recorded the album "L" with Todd Rundgren producing. The album was a huge success and Steve subsequently formed the Steve Hillage Band which included former Jethro Tull drummer Clive Bunker and future Camel bassist Colin Bass. The band made its live debut at the Hyde Park concert staged by Queen in September 1976. Following the live debut the band played numerous live concerts including a concert in Germany in early 1977 for German television. Steve Hillage first came to the wider public's attention via his work with Gong. When Steve left Gong in 1975 to pursue a solo career he widened his audience a great deal and over the next seven years with albums such as Fish Rising, "L," Motivation Radio, Green and Open he proved not only to be a critical success but also a commercial success. The last Steve Hillage album was the double album For To Next. After this album Steve changed direction and moved into the ambient and ambient dance field with his project System 7 which is still a huge success. In November 2006 however Steve re formed the Steve Hillage band and performed at the Gong Unconventional fan gathering in Holland. The set was captured for release on DVD. This DVD contains the performance and also interview footage with Steve filmed at the time of the performance.  This performance was the first Steve Hillage Band performance for over thirty years.  The DVD features the songs Hello Dawn and It's All Too Much.  The CD is the soundtrack for the DVD.

Jefferson Starship/Performing Jefferson Airplane at Woodstock ....import CD $18.99

This live album was recorded on June 12th 2009 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar California. The album captures this legendary band at one of their most recent live concerts celebrating Jefferson Airplane's appearance at the legendary Woodstock Festival in August 1969. The band perform a number of their classic songs including 'Somebody To Love,' 'White Rabbit,' 'Eskimo Blue Day Volunteers' and 'The Other Side Of This Life,' all of which featured in Jefferson Airplane's set at Woodstock forty years ago.  The album also features former Grateful Dead keyboardist Tom Constanten on two Grateful Dead songs, 'Deal' and 'I Know You Rider' which cements the relationship The Dead shared with the Airplane and Starship during the sixties and seventies. It is a relationship that survives to this day.  Jefferson Starship are currently touring the world as part of the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock Festival.

Jefferson Starship grew out of the San Francisco band Jefferson Airplane. The band released their debut album Dragonfly in early 1974 and since that time the band has enjoyed massive success on the world stage both with albums and concert appearances.   Rather like fellow San Francisco band The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Starship find themselves in the twenty first century with as much interest in their career as they had in the sixties and seventies. The band still led by founder member Paul Kantner and joined by fellow founder member David Freiberg still tour regularly and also record releasing a new studio album in late 2008. This in concert performance was made under the name of Jefferson Starship Acoustic Warrior and as the name suggests features Starship regulars Paul Kantner, Marty Balin and guitarist Slick Aguilar along with Chris Smith performing some of Jefferson Starship's best known songs in an acoustic style. This concert was recorded in Huntington New York on February 19th 1999.

Corky Laing & Leslie West/Mountain - First Steps ....import double CD $24.99

Mountain is the legendary American rock band led by Leslie West. The band was formed in 1969 and played on of its early dates at the equally legendary Woodstock Festival in August 1969. In September 1969 Corky Laing joined Mountain replacing original drummer Norman Smart. Both Leslie and Corky still regularly tour the world as Mountain and continue to release albums.  First Steps is an archive release featuring recordings from Leslie's pre Mountain band The Vagrants and Corky's pre Mountain band Energy. The material contained in this release is extremely rare with some of the recordings being previously unreleased. Of major interest to Mountain fans will be the inclusion of previously unavailable recordings of Mountain taken from the sessions for their debut album Climbing.  The album will be a two CD release and contain extensive sleeve notes detailing the tracks and the background to the bands The Vagrants and Energy with contributions from the members of the bands featured.

Mainhorse would probably be a footnote in rock history and still be residing in the section of record collectors shops were it not for the inclusion of Swiss Keyboard player Patrick Moraz. Patrick Moraz is of course now famous as the man who replaced Rick Wakeman in Yes and recorded the Relayer album and also the man who replaced Mike Pinder in the Moody Blues.  Mainhorse signed originally to Polydor Records in 1970 and released their self-titled debut in 1971. The album whilst showing immense promise enjoyed only limited success commercially and the band disbanded shortly after the album failed to catapult the band to worldwide stardom.  Along with Patrick Moraz the other musician of note was Bryson Graham who would go on to play with Gary Wright in Wonderwheel and then join Wright in a re formed Spooky Tooth in 1972.  The Mainhorse album is an unabashed progressive rock album and over the years has built up a sizeable fan base although its scarcity ensures that the price it commands puts it beyond the casual listener. Tracks featured are Pale Sky, Passing Years and the extended God which is considered a highlight of the album and a good showcase for the style that Patrick Moraz would go on to popularize in Refugee, Yes and his solo work.  The album has never been commercially available on CD making this release its debut in that format. The album has been re mastered personally by Patrick Moraz for this release.

Swiss born Patrick Moraz is probably best known in rock music circles as the man who played with two of the world's biggest rock bands, firstly with Yes recording the album Relayer and touring extensively with the band between 1974 and 1976. Following this stint with Yes Patrick would go on to join another legendary band, the Moody Blues. Patrick has also been a member of the progressive rock bands Mainhorse and later Refugee where he joined forces with two former members of the Nice. This band also released one critically acclaimed self titled album before Patrick left to join Yes.  Patrick Moraz began his solo career in earnest in 1976 with the release of The Story of I.  Patrick's latest album is entitled Change of Space and it is his first album of new material in a number of years. Coexistence was Patrick's release in 1980. The album takes Patrick into the eighties and at the time was considered a very forward thinking album. Patrick was with Yes recording the album Relayer and touring extensively with the band between 1974 and 1976. Following this stint with Yes he would go on to play with another legendary band the Moody Blues. Patrick stayed with the Moody Blues between the years 1978 and 1991 touring the world extensively and contributing to a number of successful albums.   Future Memories Live On TV was at the time considered a brave experiment. The music was performed live for a Swiss television programme and recorded directly to tape as the programme was broadcast. At one point you can even hear the television cameras moving around Patrick as he performs and in the spirit of the performance the camera and the noise generated become part of the performance.  Future Memories II followed five years after the initial Future Memories Live on TV album and the album sourced from the video performance is highly regarded by the Patrick Moraz fan base. The performance this time however as well as introducing the upgrade in keyboard technology also finds Patrick getting into the spirit of the performance by dressing up in costume for a number of the pieces. This performance was also selected to be the official Swiss Nomination in Switzerland's Golden Rose/Montreux Festival in 1984.  In addition to the two complete performances there is also bonus footage of Patrick filmed in November 2006 discussing the two shows and talking of the possibility of a Third Future Memories performance!

Future Memories II followed five years after the initial Future Memories Live on TV album and this album is highly regarded by the Patrick Moraz fan base. The instrumental album has a very eighties sound and feel to it no doubt helped in part by the then keyboard technology of the time and as the titles may suggest (Video Games How Basic Can You Get and Pilot's Games) some of the pieces may have been inspired by the then popular culture of electronic arcade games.  As with all the albums in this series of re issues Patrick Moraz has personally re mastered this album for release and includes two bonus tracks.

Patrick Moraz Live In Princeton is another live acoustic outing from Patrick Moraz. The concert took place at Westminster Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey in 1995 and captures Patrick's piano work perfectly. Tracks include Blue Monk and the Intro from Best Years Of Our Lives which was originally from The Story Of I.  This release will be the first time that this performance has been released on DVD although it was previously available as a VHS. The VHS however has been unavailable for some time and is now a collector's item. Out In The Sun is Patrick's second solo album and comes from 1977.  It was recorded in Switzerland and Brazil and was recorded shortly after Patrick left Yes. The Story Of I was Patrick’s debut solo album and recorded in late 1975 during a period when all the members of Yes embarked on solo projects. The album was a concept piece based around a story Patrick had written. Musically the album features Latin and rock rhythms in fact the entire album has a very percussive feel to it. One of the featured musicians on the album alongside Patrick is well known session drummer Andy Newmark. Other featured musicians on the album are jazz drummer Alphonse Mouzon and bassist Jeff Berlin.  The Story Of I is part of an extensive reissue campaign through 2006 that will see all Patrick’s back catalogue albums receive a new release through Voiceprint. To this end Patrick has personally overseen the re master of all the albums in the catalogue.

Tony Palmer/Fairport Convention and Matthews Southern Comfort ....import DVD $25.99

By 1970 Fairport Convention had been together as a band for some three years. During this period, the band had recorded and released five studio albums, with one of the albums, Liege and Lief, being hailed as genre defining. At the time of the filming of this performance, the band had just recorded their most recent album Full House, with the line-up featuring founder members Richard Thompson and Simon Nicol, alongside Dave Pegg, Dave Swarbrick and drummer Dave Mattacks. This line-up was - and still is - considered one of the key line-ups of Fairport Convention, although the band only managed one studio and (released much later) one live album.  Apart from the footage contained on this DVD, the Full House line-up was unfortunately never filmed commercially until reunions at the band's regular Cropredy Festival years later. The film, directed by renowned British film director Tony Palmer, captures the band at the Maidstone Fiesta during the summer of 1970 as they run through their set of the time. This included various jigs and reels, and the songs Sir Patrick Spens and Now Be Thankful. Now Be Thankful, incidentally, although originally recorded for the band's album Full House, was even released at the time as a single. The film also features two songs from Matthews Southern Comfort, the band led by former Fairport Convention member, Ian Matthews. As well as having the Fairport connection, Matthews Southern Comfort would also go on to have a massive hit single with a cover of the Joni Mitchell song Woodstock in late 1970.  The film has only recently been rediscovered and the restoration overseen by Tony Palmer. The DVD also includes bonus footage of an exclusive interview filmed in spring 2007 with director Tony Palmer where he explains how he first met Fairport Convention and his thoughts on the band and the film over thirty five years later.

Panic Room was formed following the break-up of UK rock group, Karnataka, and features four members of the original award winning line-up. The band's music ranges from intimate acoustic songs to full-on multi-layered symphonic progressive rock, while retaining a contemporary edge.  With the line-up the quality of the song writing and musicianship will be familiar to fans of the original Karnataka, but Panic Room also experiments with new directions to create an original multi-faceted sound.  The debut album from the band manages to mix the familiar with something new and fresh with a number of elements and influences brought to bear. John Payne has more than paid his dues in the rock business over the last twenty five years having worked with a number of high profile artists such as Roger Daltrey singing backing vocals on Roger's album Under A raging Moon. He was also briefly the vocalist with ELO II.  However for fifteen years John Payne was perhaps best know as the vocalist and bassist with British Rock Band Asia. In that time John wrote and produced seven studio albums that found success across the world including the albums Aqua, Aria, Arena, Aura and Silent Nation. He also played countless concerts with the band in Europe America, South America and Asia.  Following the split in Asia he formed a new band featuring Guthrie Govan and Jay Schellen (Also from the last line up of Asia) entitled GPS and the band subsequently released their debut album Window to the Soul. This release was followed up by dates in the UK and Europe and also Japan. In 2007 John Payne joined the cast of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds playing the part of Parson Nathaniel.  Prior to joining Asia John Payne joined with former Michael Schenker keyboard player Andy Nye and formed the band Passion. Anthony Phillips was a founder member of the British Rock band Genesis. The band recorded two singles and the album From Genesis To Revelation before leaving Decca and signing with Charisma to record the Trespass album. Anthony recorded the albums From Genesis To Revelation and Trespass and also performed a great many gigs before deciding to leave the band following a particularly bad bout of stage fright and also suffering a debilitating bout of bronchial pneumonia. It was between the years 1970 and the release of his debut album The Geese And The Ghost in 1977 that many fans lost sight of Anthony Phillips. In actual fact much of the material that would make up the Geese And The Ghost would be written during this time. The Geese and the Ghost was originally released in 1977 and features performances from Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins alongside Anthony.1984 was originally released in 1981 and was critically well received. Based on the George Orwell novel 1984 Anthony Phillips is responsible for most of the playing on the album save for some percussion from Morris Pert and also percussion, Vocals and keyboards from co producer Richard Scott. This reissue has been re mastered for this release and also contains a second disc which includes outtakes and demos of the material that went on to from the original album. Also included on this disc is The Rule Britannia Suite.

Anthony Phillips was a founder member of the British Rock band Genesis. The 30th anniversary of the original release of Ant's solo debut album is marked with the re-issue of the album as an expanded 2 CD version. The album itself has been expertly re-mastered from the original master tapes by recording engineer and co-producer of the original album Simon Heyworth. The location of the original master tapes brought to light the previously unheard Lute's Chorus Reprise section of Henry: Portraits From Tudor Times which was excised from track at the final stage of completing the album as it was felt at the time that the track was a little too long. This has now been restored to its rightful place on the album in order that the track can be heard for the first time in the originally intended form.  The extra CD features a fascinating "behind the scenes" view of the initial stages of the recording of the album with the basic tracks of Ant and Mike Rutherford's original acoustic guitar parts for The Geese & The Ghost (Parts One & Two), Which Way The Wind Blows and Henry: Portraits From Tudor Times being mixed for the first time in isolation from the later overdubs that were added to the album. Complimenting these unique versions of the original tracks is the only unreleased track from the original sessions (a planned new version of the co-written Silver Song that never progressed beyond this initial recording), Ant's original demo of Collections (which was recorded for Charisma Records boss Tony Stratton-Smith in the Spring of 1974) and the original basic instrumental tracks of God If I Saw Her Now and Sleepfall. Last but by no means least the final track is the unreleased single version of Silver Song, recorded in November 1973 by Ant together with Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins which receives it's first official release.  The re-issue will also feature new liner notes with a detailed account of the making of the album including contributions from John Hackett, co-producer Simon Heyworth and cover artist Peter Cross together with Ant's own memories of the album. Rosanna Arquette also shares her memories of one of her favourite tracks on the album.

Quicksilver Messenger Service/Live at the Avalon Ballroom San Francisco September 9th 1966 ....import CD $18.99

Quicksilver Messenger Service is considered to be one of the most important bands to come from the San Francisco music scene of the sixties along with their contemporaries The Grateful Dead and The Jefferson Airplane.  This early period performance of the band was captured at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco on the 9th of September 1966.The Avalon Ballroom was one of the most important venues in San Francisco operated by Chet Helms and his Family Dog Productions. Amongst the highlights here are the songs Pride of Man which would grace the bands debut album some eighteen months later and also Mona, a key track from the 1969 album Happy Trails. Two other tracks heavily associated with Quicksilver Messenger Service also find their way into the set and they are Babe I'm Gonna Leave You and Codeine. There is also a twenty minute plus version of Hoochie Coochie Man which highlights the musical interplay of the band and their jamming skills.

Quicksilver Messenger Service is considered to be one of the most important bands to come from the San Francisco music scene of the sixties along with their contemporaries The Grateful Dead and The Jefferson Airplane.  The band initially came together in 1965 and proceeded to play a great many gigs across America.  The band became one of the most popular draws in the Bay area of San Francisco and built a solid reputation as a strong live act built around a mixture of good material and what would essentially become their calling card long extended jamming pieces.. The original line up was guitarists John Cippolina and Gary Duncan alongside drummer Greg Elmore, bassist David Frieberg and vocalist Jim Murray. Originally vocalist Dino Valenti was also in line to become a member however he was arrested and jailed on drugs charges whilst the band was still in its formative stages.

Quicksilver Messenger Service/Live at the Carousel Ballroom San Francisco 1968 ....import double CD $24.99

This double disc recording finds the Quicksilver Messenger Service playing at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco. The Carousel was another of Bill Graham's venues and he would re name it the Fillmore West and run it until 1971. When this recording was made it was just a few weeks after the release of the self titled debut from Quicksilver Messenger Service. The set included The Fool and Light Your Windows from the debut alongside live favourites Who Do You Love, Babe I’m Gonna Leave You and Walkin' Blues. The second disc however is the real pull for Quicksilver fans as it contains just the one track of the band doing what they do best and what sealed their reputation as a live band. The disc is taken up with 'The Jam,' an extended piece which never outstays its welcome but which underpins the bands musical inventiveness and dexterity.

By the time of this recording on February 4th 1967 Quicksilver Messenger Service were attracting a great deal of attention from both critics and fans alike. Another performance from the Fillmore in San Francisco, this recording comes just two days after another release in this series of live recordings from Quicksilver Messenger Service. This recording while being a single disc contains many highlights including superb versions of You Don’t Love Me and A Fool For You. Whilst not radically different from the set of the 4th of February although shorter the set does include Gold and Silver, Walkin’ Blues, I Hear You Knocking and All Night Worker and shows the band were flexible and able to put together a set that highlighted their musical dexterity and also their choice of material although the performances are different.

Refugee was the band formed by Patrick Moraz, Lee Jackson and Brian Davison in 1973 and was quickly established in the UK and Europe helped in part due to both Jackson and Davison having previously been founder members of the hugely successful progressive rock band The Nice. Refugee however also had a resident keyboard virtuoso in Patrick Moraz. Patrick had previously been in the band Mainhorse when he was approached by the two former Nice members to form what would become Refugee. The band soon attracted the attention of Charisma Records who had previously signed The Nice. Refugee recorded just one studio album which was released to unanimously positive reviews in early 1974. The band looked set to go on to bigger and better things when Patrick Moraz received an offer to join Yes.   More recently a cassette was found containing a live performance of the band.   That tape became the basis for this new live album.  Previous bootleg releases are of a lower quality and this release has been cleaned up and remastered for release with the full co-operation of the members of the band and the story behind the discovery of the tape and the successful restoration of this tape is outlined in the sleeve notes written by Martin Hanson who has written the definitive biography of the Nice entitled Hang On To A Dream.  Tracks include Ritt Mickley, Papillon, Grand Canyon Suite and Someday all of which featured on Refugee's debut studio album. Refugee was seen by the British music press at least as an attempt to revive the legendary British progressive rock band The Nice. While two thirds of The Nice (Lee Jackson and Brian Davison) were involved in Refugee the addition of Swiss born keyboard virtuoso Patrick Moraz ensured that the project whilst having the progressive ideals of The Nice was in fact something altogether different.  The band initially came together in late 1973 and following rehearsals the band recorded their only album the self titled Refugee which generally received excellent reviews. The album was released on the Charisma label which was certainly behind the project as the band departed on a worldwide tour in promotion of the album. All was going well for the band and plans were being laid for a follow up album until rock supergroup Yes came calling looking for a replacement for the recently departed Rick Wakeman. In all honesty there were few candidates who would have been capable of filling Wakeman's shoes in Yes however Patrick Moraz was certainly more than capable and accepted the offer he couldn't refuse and Refugee became a one album band when Moraz departed in 1974. The Refugee album has never received an official release on CD in the UK and was briefly available as a costly semi legal release in the Far East. Tracks include the extended pieces Credo and Grand Canyon Suite and also Papillon and Ritt Mickley. Specially remastered for CD personally by Patrick Moraz.

Slapp Happy/Ca Va ....import CD $18.99

Slapp Happy were a British/ German Rock band featuring Anthony Moore, Peter Blegvad and Dagmar Krause. The band was formed in 1972 and moved to the UK in 1974 where they merged with the band Henry Cow although this merger didn't last long and the band subsequently split. There have been subsequent reunions alongside solo careers for the various members.   This recording was in effect a reunion album originally released in 1998. The album contains twelve songs including the tracks Scarred For Life, Moon Lovers, Is It You, King of Straw and Let's Travel Light. Whilst fitting in well with the bands previous work Ca Va has a modern feel and was received well on its initial release in 1998. The album has been unavailable for some time and this reissue will be warmly received by this bands dedicated and loyal fan base.

This recording was made in Japan in May 2000 at three concerts which took place in Tokyo, Sapporo and Kyoto. The material performed was drawn from four of the bands albums (Sort Of, Slapp Happy/Acnalbasac Noom, Desperate Straights and Ca Va).  The band chose to perform the concerts by playing all the instruments themselves without the aid of other auxiliary musicians. This DVD captures THE Canterbury Sound legends Soft Machine live in France filmed at a concert for French television in 1970. Strange Daze '97 is an audio record of the first Space Rock Festival to take place in America. As can be expected Hawkwind take centre stage on this two disc set which presents the bands on disc one in chronological order as they appeared at the festival. The headliners, however, are kept for the second disc. Former Hawkwind member Nik Turner appears fronting the band Far Flung where he performs three full songs including, 25,000 feet per second, Soul Herder and Opa Loka. As to be expected Hawkwind close the second disc with four songs from their set which include, Kauai, Assassins of Allah and Brainstorm/In Your Area.  This double disc set has not been available for some time and making this reissue all the more desirable.

Filmed for a Rock television special in Sweden in 1980 this is a rare outing for Rick Wakeman and the English Rock Ensemble in the eighties. The band which included vocalist Ashley Holt and drummer Tony Fernandez (who are still with The English Rock Ensemble in 2008). This performance includes the songs Catherine Parr, The No Earthly Connection Medley, Anne Boleyn and the Journey To The Centre Of The Earth Medley. This DVD has previously been available as part of the boxed set The Rick Wakeman Video Vault.   Amazing live performance capturing Rick and his band going thru their paces in 1980.  Footage is so rare even Rick himself forgot it existed!  Comes with a ltd edtion companion audio CD.  Sound specially remastered for this CD edition.  If you only own one Rick Wakeman DVD it should be this one.

Leslie West/The Great Fatsby ....import CD $18.99

As a solo artist Leslie West continued his career during breaks from Mountain in the mid seventies and despite working extensively with Mountain Leslie manages to also keep his solo career a going concern.  The Great Fatsby was Leslie's solo album originally released in 1975 and was completed following another bout of activity from Mountain. The album includes a number of guest players including Spooky Tooth's Gary Wright and Mick Jagger who plays guitar on the album rather than singing.  The album is an eclectic affair including as it does a number of covers including House Of The Rising Sun (Animals), A Little Bit Of Love(Free), Honky Tonk Women (Rolling Stones) and If I Were A Carpenter (Tim Hardin). The album also includes the song High Roller which is co written by Leslie West, Corky Laing and Keith Richard and Mick Jagger and also features Mick Jagger on guitar.  The album was always a popular album in the Leslie West canon and has been out of print for a short period prior to this reissue.

The Leslie West Band was the band that Leslie West formed to play solo concerts in order to promote his solo album The Great Fatsby. The band included former Mountain drummer Corky Laing and also future Foreigner guitarist and song writer Mick Jones. In fact Mick Jones wrote one of the more popular songs on the album, Singapore Sling, and also co wrote another seven of the bands ten tracks with Corky Laing and Leslie West.   The album also includes two covers the first a rocked up version of the Beatles song Dear Prudence and the second a cover of the Mann Weil song We Gotta Get Out Of This Place a song made famous by the Animals.

John Wetton; The Flower Kings and More/Progfest '97 ....import DVD $27.99

This DVD is the debut release of the highlights of the Progfest 97 performances. As the title suggests the festival featured artists associated with the progressive rock movement.  Artists appearing at the festival in 1997 included John Wetton, Le Orme, The Flower Kings, Arena, Big Elf, Sinkadus and Spock's Beard.  John Wetton was performing tracks from his time with King Crimson and also UK alongside European prog acts such as The Flower Kings and American progressive rock band Spock's Beard.

Snowy White/Keep Out - We Are Toxic ....import CD $18.99

Keep Out We’re Toxic was recorded in 1999 with Snowy's band the White Flames. Considered to be one of his most powerful albums by his large and dedicated fan base Keep Out - We Are Toxic finds Snowy working his way through an excellent set of well written modern blues and R n B songs. This release has been unavailable for some time and this particular re issue boasts two previously unreleased instrumental tracks from the White Flames Instrumental Sessions.

The Snowy White Blues Project/In Our Time Of Living ....import CD $18.99

British born guitarist Snowy White (Born Terence Charles White) first became interested in music at the age of eleven when he was inspired by blues musicians Buddy Guy and B.B. King. He pursued his blues style in a number of bands however during the seventies Snowy made a reputation for himself playing numerous sessions for a wide variety of musicians such as Al Stewart, Cliff Richard and Peter Green. More famously Snowy toured as second guitarist with Pink Floyd augmenting the bands sound on the tours to promote the Animals and The Wall albums. More recently he has been an integral part of Roger Waters live band.   Following a period with rock band Thin Lizzy, Snowy formed his own blues band and released a number of well received and commercially successful albums and even scored a hit single with the song Bird Of Paradise. In October 2008 Snowy formed The Snowy White Blues Project and the band recorded their debut album. The band features Snowy alongside Matt Taylor: (guitar & vocals) Ruud Weber: (bass & vocals) Juan van Emmerloot: (drums).  The album entitled In Our Time Of Living includes all new material recorded in October 2008 and recorded specifically for this project.

Yes/The Lost Broadcasts ....import DVD $21.99

Yes performed a hectic two hundred and three concerts in 1969 and also managed to fit in a number of TV appearances both in the UK and Europe, including the first appearance featured on this DVD filmed for the German television programme 'Beat Club' in November 1969.  The tracks performed here are No Opportunity Necessary No Experience Needed, Looking Around and Survival. Of the three tracks Looking Around and Survival were from the first Yes album and No Opportunity was a Richie Havens song the band had worked up for live performance and would feature as the opening track on the bands second album Time and A Word which would be released in July 1970. Only No Opportunity would be featured in the actual broadcast from this mini live set and was duly broadcast on the 29th of November 1969. The set performed by Yes on this occasion would have been a cut down version of the bands live set, and Jon Anderson introduced the numbers, although he forgets which camera he is on whilst introducing Looking Around, much to the amusement of the rest of the band. The performance is a tight concise and well disciplined one proving that the live work undertaken by Yes in 1969 had sharpened up their musical skills no end. More importantly in terms of footage available from this period very little has survived making this small but historically important piece of film of the original line up of Yes all the more important.  The next clip featured here is a colour clip of the band performing Time And A Word. The performance is a lip synched performance as was the norm for many television programmes of the time and the band seem to be enjoying themselves performing the title track of their second album.   The next section of footage comes from another 'Beat Club' appearance filmed on the 19th of April 1971. The two tracks featured on the programme which was aired on the 24th of April were I've Seen All Good People and Yours Is No Disgrace; however, researchers recently found a second take of Yours Is No Disgrace which is slightly faster than the original take. This second take has remained in the vault until now as it was decided to use the first take rather than the slightly faster retake.  The performances featured on this DVD however are from the very early days of the band. You could say from a time "Before and Beyond" their massive success; but the spark of what made them the massively successful band they became is visible here for all to see and hear.

Yes/Rock of the 70s ....import DVD $18.99

In September 1970 YES were invited by Belgian Television to make a film featuring selections from their current album Time and A Word that had been released in July. The band would be seen in many situations around Belgium performing or more precisely miming to tracks from the album Time and A Word. As Steve Howe had just joined the band he had to mime his guitar to the tracks already recorded by Peter Banks. Interspersed with off the wall interludes by various members of the band the filming was presented as a television special between September the 1st and 4th before they played the Huy Festival in Belgium on the 5th of September. Four tracks were performed for the cameras including Astral Traveller, Everyday’s, Then and No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed.   Following on from these TV performances YES would finally break through with their third album The Yes album recorded in December 1970 and released in January 1971. Following more changes in line up Rick Wakeman replaced Tony Kaye. The band went to even greater success during the seventies with albums such as Fragile, Close To The Edge, Tales From Topographic Oceans and on through the Eighties with albums such as 90125 and Big Generator.   In 2001 YES even returned to the format of recording an album with an orchestra. The result, Magnification, proved to be hugely successful thirty one years on from the band's first tentative experiment with a full orchestra on Time And A Word. Despite short periods of inactivity and a great many changes in personnel which has seen Chris Squire as the only constant in the band's history, YES has weathered the storms of fashion and commercial whims so as to release close on twenty studio albums and various of live albums in the period 1968-2008. YES have also remained hugely popular in the live arena and are still able to fill some of the largest venues worldwide to audiences both young and old.  The performances featured on this DVD demonstrate the beginnings of that journey and the creativity of a band that has been so influential in the development of a genre that has defied time and generations so as to become the soundtrack and vision in so many lives.
