Hugh Hopper/Monster Band ....import CD $16.99
The Monster Band was a 1973/4 ensemble formed by Hugh Hopper as a touring band with fellow Soft Elton Dean on saxophone, drummer Mike Travis from Gilgamesh, and two musicians from the French band Contrepoint, bassist Jean Pierre Weiller and keyboardist Jean Pierre Carolfi, with whom he had toured France the previous year. The Monster Band album also includes some extraordinary recordings made by Hopper solo. It is a very satisfying experience to be part of the team instrumental in bringing this music back into the public eye after so many years.

Jimmy Page personally signed Detective to Led Zeppelin's Swan Song records in 1975. In 1985, Michael penned the song 'Obsession,' which became a number one hit in 27 countries for LA new wave group Animotion; the track has been featured in numerous movies throughout the years. Des Barres remembers: "The Detective albums were made under such a darkness and incredible indulgence. I always describe Detective recording in a studio as - it was three months just to get a drum sound. It was so costly, it cost 1 million bucks, and then we did it again. The story of Wally is one of those strange, convoluted, and rather heart-warming tales which surface once in a while in the rock 'n' roll multiverse. The band was formed in Harrogate in the early to mid-1970s and quickly built themselves quite a reputation. Fame is a fickle mistress at the best of times, and for Wally the latter part of the 70s were far from being the best of times. The band disintegrated, and quickly became one of those sad 'might have beens' beloved of the cognoscenti, but unknown to the bloke, or blokess, in the street. Then, decades later, the band decided to get together. For reasons that probably had something to do with maturity, they sounded even better second time around, as this rare concert recording from 2009 attests. The Move were formed in 1965 by bassist-vocalist Chris 'Ace' Kefford who was the original leader. He composed all the group's UK singles and, from 1968, also sang lead vocals on many songs. The music got better and better as Roy Wood progressed as a songwriter, but when Carl Wayne left in 1970 he was replaced by Jeff Lynne, late of massively under-rated band The Idle Race, and the dynamic of the band changed forever. The final line-up of 1972 was the trio of Wood, Bevan and Jeff Lynne, who transitioned the group into the Electric Light Orchestra. Run Time: 40 minutes.

As well as being vocalist, Daevid Allen plays acoustic guitars, glissando guitar, and - together with Graham Clark on violin and guitar, whom Daevid met in 1988 in London at the last concert of Invisible Opera Co., UK, and Mark Robson on vocals and keyboards, didgeridoo, flute and Irish whistle - who spent much time in Australia with the Invisible Opera Co. and his own band Kangaroo Moon - they make up Magick Brothers (named after Gong's 1969 album). Magick Brothers' acoustic format provides what is perhaps the most organic setting for Daevid Allen's surreal chemical soundscapes. This early live recording is a delightful insight into the modus operandi of this lovely little ensemble.

Australian poet and musician Daevid Allen, born in 1938, moved to Europe in 1960, inspired by the writings of the 'Beat Generation.' After a year or so in Paris, he arrived in the UK in 1961. After meeting William Burroughs, and discovering the peculiar music and philosophy of free-jazz maverick Sun Ra, he formed The Daevid Allen trio with his landlady's son Robert Wyatt. Some years later they teamed up with Mike Ratledge and Kevin Ayers to form Soft Machine (William Burroughs' name for the human body). After a European Tour in 1967, Allen was refused entry to the UK because of a visa irregularity, and moved back to France. In 1971, in Daevid's own words: "It was now three years since my deportation from the mum country so I was now able to legally re-enter England for the first time since 1967." One of his first appearances when he returned to the UK, was a performance at a benefit concert at The Roundhouse in aid of Release, a drug rehab organization. The lineup of the concert included, Daevid himself, Gilli Smyth, Didier Malherbe, Christian Tritsch, Hugh Hopper, Elton Dean and Gerry Fields.

Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe as the name suggests is a collection of musicians who were important enough to warrant their name over the shop front. In this instance all four musicians were members of the classic line up of British rock band Yes. The band decamped to Montserrat and recorded what would be their debut self titled album which was released in 1989 just before embarking on a world tour where the band would perform the album and also classics from the Yes catalogue. This re-mastered and Deluxe edition of the debut album now includes a second disc of bonus material which includes rare mixes and single edits and more importantly three live tracks recorded on the British leg of the bands world tour. The massive Yes fan base will ensure a positive reception to this release which contains in the bonus disc many tracks that have not been available for many years, including the powerful b-side 'Vultures in the City,' and also previously unreleased material and as such makes the package more desirable.

The story begins back in the halycon days of 1968 when Jon Anderson, the singer with a band called The Warriors, a Beatles inspired beat combo who had recorded a couple of singles for Decca back in 1964 teamed with bass player Chris Squire. They called their new band, which featured Peter Banks on guitar, Tony Kaye on keyboards and legendary drummer Bill Bruford, "Yes." In 1987, Jon Anderson teamed up with ex-Yes members Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman and Bill Bruford to make an album called Anderson Bruford Wakeman & Howe. Many people at the time believed that this ensemble was the true keeper of the Yes flame, and that the album sounded far more like classic Yes. The four piece went on tour billed as "An Evening of Yes Music Plus." The tour - from which this legendary recording was taken - was a triumph artistically and commercially.

Jon Anderson will be universally known as the vocalist with the legendary progressive rock band Yes. Jon was with the band since 1968 except for a couple of occasions when he left to pursue a solo career in the case of the late eighties joined with other former members of Yes in Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe (ABWH). More recently Jon was forced to leave Yes once more following illness. Post illness he has resumed his solo career. Among his noted solo albums Jon has released the albums Olias of Sunhillow, Song of Seven and City of Angels. In 2010 Jon released a well received joint album with fellow ex Yes member Rick Wakeman entitled The Living Tree. This most recent album is also a collaborative affair featuring Jon and many other artists writing songs via the internet while Jon performs them. Badger was formed by Tony Kaye after he left progressive rock band Yes. Recorded live at London's Rainbow Theatre this was actually the band's debut album. It was considered a triumph combining the raucous stomping atmosphere induced by Badgers music with precision and expertise, qualities possessed in no small measure by the group. Formed in 1972, they first came to a British and Europeans attention by supporting Black Sabbath. The rest of Badger comprised of guitarist Brian Parrish and former Ashton Gardner and Dyke drummer Roy Dyke, with bassist David Foster. David Foster had co-written two tracks with Jon Anderson for Yes's second album 'Time and a Word.'
David Bedford/The Odyssey (Live) ....import CD $16.99
David Bedford is considered one of the UK's foremost composers and arrangers working both in the classical and pop genre. He first came to the attention of the rock world as a member of Kevin Ayer's band and the arranger of Kevin's album Joy Of A Toy. He was also the arranger on an orchestral version of possibly one of the most famous albums ever, Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells. David has also worked with other artists notably the Edgar Broughton Band and Roy Harper. His first proper solo album was Nurse's Song With Elephants for John Peel's Dandelion Records label in 1972. Further albums for the Virgin label followed including Star's End and the Rime Of The Ancient Mariner. In 1976 David released The Odyssey an album which was a musical setting for the play by Homer. This CD is a live performance of The Odyssey which took place at the Royal Albert Hall on the 25th of January 1977. The performance was a star studded affair and the performance featured amongst others David Bedford, Mike Ratledge (Soft Machine), Jon Lord (Deep Purple), Dave Stewart (Egg, National Health), Neal Ardley, Peter Lemer and Mike Oldfield. The performance also featured the Queen's College Choir.

The name of Troy Donockley will be familiar to fans of progressive rock and Celtic music. Troy has been a fixture on both scenes for many years not least in his capacity as a session musician where he has worked within many artists such as Mostly Autumn and Barbara Dickson but also as a member of the long standing Celtic progressive rock band Iona. While Iona took a break Troy worked on solo albums and also albums with fellow Iona band mate Dave Bainbridge. With a more recent higher profile Troy has compiled an album entitled Messages featuring tracks from his three solo albums and two new and previously unreleased tracks (For Him Who Will Never Return and Dunmail Rising). The album features performances from some of the best musicians Troy has worked with over the years.

The Spell was initially pressed as a limited edition vinyl and unavailable on CD for a long time, this re-issue of The Spell features the original cover artwork from the vinyl sleeve, alongside the lyrics and additional notes about the FAND recording. 'The Spell is a musical allegory in which the seasons are used to depict the cyclic and seasonal nature of all things.' The music begins with the casting of The Spell; a dark Wagnerian fanfare where the allusion to Parsifal is obvious. Gong came into being almost by accident in the late sixties when Daevid Allen was refused entry back into Britain following European dates with Soft Machine. Deciding to stay in Paris, Allen began working alongside Gilli Smyth and various musicians on what would eventually be recognized as Gong. In fact there is good news for fans of the Angel's Egg period as there is over twenty minutes of footage featured on the DVD. Saxophonist Dick Heckstall-Smith had a major role in the British Blues boom in the 1960's, playing in the bands of Alexis Korner, Graham Bod and John Mayall. In the late sixties he joined Colosseum, and ventured into the little explored territory at the time where blues, jazz and rock meet. He also had a spell with Pete Brown's Battered Ornaments. In addition to doing session work he released a number of solo recordings. The album Woza Nasu displays an African influence, and received much critical acclaim. The album had something of a chequered release history, and has been released on Mainstream and Aura records. This release contains the original album and a seven minute long track 'Isa's' that was never included on the original album.

Iron Butterfly is an American rock band originally formed in 1966 by keyboardist Doug Ingle and drummer Ron Bushy. The band underwent a number of personnel changes around Ingle and Bushy until the band recorded 'In A Gadda Da Vida,' in 1968, which would become their most famous album. This DVD features a session filmed in January 1971 just four months before the band split. The songs come from the band's fourth album Metamorphosis which had been released in late 1970.

We are proud to announce the release of YES: UNION - Live. This concert film of the band was made on August 8th 1991 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. It was subsequently only released in Japan on video and then on the briefly new format of laser disc. This fantastic film however, was not widely available for a long time and has since become a much sought after artifact amongst Yes fans. This package includes the original film from the Shoreline Amphitheatre (taken directly from the master tapes), with artwork approved by Roger Dean and is an official Yes release, including the hits: I've Seen All Good People, Roundabout, Rhythm of Love, Owner of a Lonely Heart, and many others. As an accompaniment to the DVD also being released is the 2 CD soundtrack of the film.
