The home of Robert Fripp, King Crimson, Trey Gunn, The League of Crafty Guitarists, The California Guitar Trio and more incredibly talented musicians from the King Crimson extended family. The motto of Discipline Records is:
"The phonographic copyright in these performances is operated by Discipline Records on behalf of the artists, with whom it resides. Discipline accepts no reason for artists to give away such copyright interests in their work by virtue of a "common practice" which is out of tune with the time, was always questionable and is now indefensible."
Given that motto and the objectives of The Artists' Shop, it is only appropriate that Discipline was the first artist owned label we welcomed into the Shop. And much thanks to Mark Perry for making that possible. Mr. Fripp has put together a hot little roster for this label and growth has been good. And you'll find links to more great Crimson related music at the bottom of the page. Also be sure to check out our new page for Tony Levin's Papabear Records not to mention Adrian Belew Presents!
California Guitar Trio/Echoes ....CD $13.99

To coincide with a rigorous tour and festival schedule for 2008, the California Guitar Trio releases "Echoes," their first release since 2004's "Whitewater." "Echoes" is a mix of never before released CGT arrangements from classical to pop classics, including the Trio's wildly popular version of 'Bohemian Rhapsody,' and ending with, perhaps the most requested song of all musicians of all time, 'Freebird.' "Echoes" also includes Beethoven's 'Pastorale,' a classical fan favorite, as well as a more modern classic, 'Tubular Bells;' all of which highlight the Trio's technical wizardry and breathtaking fusion of musical styles, as well as their amazing ability to arrange beautiful versions of both known and original pieces. And, of course, let us not forget the title track! The Trio is happy to be "back home" with Inner Knot to continue in the pattern of success with the release of their previous best sellers "Pathways" and "Rocks the West."
King Crimson/Collectable King Crimson Vol. 3: Live At The Shepherds Bush Empire Parts 1 & 2 ....double CD $14.99

The third in the Collectable King Crimson series, showcasing historic live King Crimson shows. Volume three highlights the double trio line up of Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Bill Bruford, Trey Gunn and Pat Mastelotto as they concluded a six week European tour with two nights at the historic Shepherds Bush Empire. Compiled from the band's stereo tapes of the concert, this two CD set houses the complete show from the second night in London. One of the biggest surprises of the evening was the inclusion on the set list of '21st Century Schizoid Man,' the first time played live in London since 1973. This was also the only show on the tour to open with a Robert Fripp solo soundscape, also included on this two CD set. Rolling Stone described the double trio's sound as akin to "well-wrought sonic violence," noting that the band could keep pace with any of the younger bands of the 90's.
King Crimson/The ConstruKction Of Light ....CD $14.99

Following a series of "projeKcts" in which various members of the six-piece line up King Crimson's album 'Thrak' got together in different incarnations for what Robert Fripp deemed "research and development," a new four-piece Crimson emerged with a studio album in 2000. 'The ConstruKction of Light,' with Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp, Trey Gunn and Pat Mastelotto, has been unavailable since 2003, and, as is common with Crimson releases, sounds more contemporary now than when originally released. A must-have for King Crimson fans wanting to complete their studio album collection which begins with the iconic 'In The Court of the Crimson King,' to 2000's 'The ConstruKction of Light' and onward.
Robert Fripp & Brian Eno/Beyond Even (1992 - 2006) ....CD $14.99

Music composed and peformed by Robert Fripp & Brian Eno. Initially Robert and Brian named the album "Unreleased Works of Startling Genius" as a joke. But fans know that the duo has been one of the most innovative and intriguing, not to mention ground-breaking, musical partnerships of the last thirty years, beginning with their first release of "No Pussyfooting," to the more recent "Equatorial Stars." Initial pressing will contain two discs, with one running continuously, and one with tracks running individually. Subsequent pressings will contain one disc with tracks running individually.
King Crimson/The Great Deceiver Live '73-'74: Part 1
....double CD $17.99
King Crimson/The Great Deceiver Live '73-'74: Part 2 ....double CD
$17.99

Previously released as part of 4-disc box set, DGM is re-releasing the Great Deceiver in a more consumer-friendly format, with great price for the amount of music contained in each set. The Great Deceiver will now be available as two two-CD sets, with updated artwork from Pam Crook, and original diary entries from Robert Fripp. The box set was originally released as a means to chronicle an amazing period of live KC performances, and to allow fans to buy the music legitimately, with better sound quality, than from the multitude of bootleggers selling the music at the time. The Great Deceiver continues to be considered one of King Crimson's most extraordinary releases with not only electrifying performances of music from the Larks Tongues In Aspic, Starless and Bible Black and Red albums (although Red was recorded after these performances), but also more 90 minutes worth of unreleased songs and improvisations between these two sets! 15 years from the original release, the music, chronicling live shows in Providence, Glasgow, Pittsburgh, Toronto and Zurich in 1973 & 1974, is as vital as ever. Featuring Bill Bruford: Drums, Percussion; David Cross: Violin, Mellotron; Robert Fripp: Guitar, Mellotron; John Wetton: Bass Guitar, Vocals.

Markus Reuter & Robert Rich/Eleven Questions ....CD $13.99

Robert Fripp's commitment to the art of improvisation has been a significant feature of his performances throughout a professional career spanning some 40 years, from his work with King Crimson, to his work with Brian Eno and the development of Frippertronics, to his solo work. Churchscapes, as the name implies, is the performance of Soundscapes in churches and cathedrals. The choice of venues is deliberate. The music is informed by the space provided and utilizes that space in return, the intent of the composer to produce a form of "devotional music" as "personal thanksgiving" as mentioned in the liner notes. Drawn from a series of performances in churches and cathedrals in England and Estonia in 2006, "At The End Of Time" provides a beautiful atmospheric recording of a unique tour.
Tuner/Pole ....CD $14.99

A band with a rapidly growing fan base, TUNER consists of drummer Pat Mastelotto (KING CRIMSON) and multi-instrumentalist Markus Reuter. POLE is a modern rock album best described as an amalgamation of the sounds of TOOL, Peter Gabriel, NIN, and the daring attitude and power of contemporary art. The beautifully designed CD comes in a SuperJewelBox with 4 different covers.

Fayman & Fripp/A Temple in the Clouds ....CD $13.99

Recorded live from a past life, A Temple in the Clouds invokes a voyage on an ancient mariner vessel bound for what might be the Earth's end. Strange mists rise as we slowly drift upon the encompassing sparkling seas where sacred primordial ritual meets modern amplified sound. Awash in the looping structures of Robert Fripp's guitar soundscapes, Jeffrey Fayman adds an opulent cinematic brilliance to the proceedings, creating an intense and dramatic vision of a future rich in the heritage of Fripp's past. Recored live from a past life. Nine years in the making, A Temple in the Clouds is a unique collaboration between one of rock's most important and influential guitarists and a contemporary cinematic composer. Fripp's contribution of two hours worth of treated guitar work (his trademark "Frippertronics") formed the basis for Fayman's layering of interwoven electronic soundscapes. Focusing on the subtleties and slight shifts in overtones and harmonics, Fayman and Fripp have created a dynamic musical kaleidoscope, every changing and instrinsically radiant in each sonic fractal. This album, released on the Projekt label, is very reminiscent of Fripp's early work with Brian Eno - No Pussyfooting and Evening Star.

"It's the Sergeant Pepper of avant punk." - The Wire The term 'classic album' has been devalued somewhat through overuse, but if ever an album has proved worthy of the term, it's Robert Fripp's 1979 solo debut "Exposure." An invitation from David Bowie & Brian Eno in July 1977 resulted in Fripp's appearance as lead guitarist on Bowie's "Heroes" album, and marked his return to full-time musician. Further work with Daryl Hall, Peter Gabriel, The Roches and Blondie, preceded the sessions for "Exposure," recorded at the Record Plant in New York. "Exposure" was originally conceived as part of a trilogy alongside Daryl Hall's "Sacred Songs" and Peter Gabriel's second solo album (both Fripp produced). The new 2 CD edition consists of the oriignal 1979 release on CD 1, while CD 2 presents a version of the 1983 remix with the inclusion of the 3 formerly unreleased Darayl Hall vocal tracks & an appendix of bonus tracks all material re-mastered from the original source tapes by Simon Heyworth & approved by Fripp. The accompanying 24 page booklet features archive photos, the original lyric inserts & sleeve notes along with newly written notes by Robert Fripp. The special limited edition is packaged in mini-vinyl form allowing the release to fit in with the limited edition series of King Crimson 30th Anniversary re-masters that proved so popular.

Love Cannot Bear: 2005 Soundscapes - Live in the USA is the brand new album by Robert Fripp. Soundscapes - consisting of guitar solos played through a variety of electronic processors and sound modules - have been the primary focus of Fripp's solo performances for more than a decade. The Soundscapes concept has been presented to a much larger audience over the last few years. As well as the ongoing series of individual concerts, Robert has played as part of the sell-out G3 tours of Europe and South America with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai in 2004, with Porcupine Tree in the US in 2005 and, most recently, in a series of warmly received concerts at this year's open air Big Chill festival in the UK. With this new release Fripp steps beyond his previous soundscape recordings adding acoutic guitar (how long since he's played that?) and even Fripp vocals (!) along with some ecstatic Fripp guitar solos. Love Cannot Bear represents Robert Fripp's best work in this genre since his landmark collaborations with Brian Eno on Evening Star and No Pussyfooting.

32 years after their vanguard album, 'No Pussyfooting,' Robert Fripp & Brian Eno came together in 2004 to compose and perform seven new soundscapes on 'The Equatorial Stars' Produced by Brian Eno, this album, whose textures and atmospheres form the heart of each track, subtly changing, allowing space for Fripp's guitar solos and sounds to emerge from the center, gives Fripp & Eno the opportunity to redefine an area of music they helped launch into the mainstream in the first place.
Mitchell Froom/A Thousand Days ....CD $14.99

Froom, primarily known as record producer to artists such as Richard Thompson, Los Lobos, The Corrs, Elvis Costello, Suzanne Vega, Crowded House and The Finn Brothers, is presenting his third solo album after 'The Key Of Cool' (1984) and his 1999 Atlantic release 'Dopamine.' Melodies somewhere between folk, jazz, pop and classical music, composed, performed and recorded by one of today's most prolific and influential pop producers. A singular and personal recording project, sparsely instrumented with piano plus interludes with pump organ and accordion a music soundworld that's reminiscent of Tom Waits, Randy Newman and Elvis Costello, Beautifully recorded with a retro touch.
Trey Gunn/The Third Star ....CD $13.99

"Ranging from spliff-tastic soundscapes to Fripp-influenced Thrak'n'roll, _Third Star_ will certainly appeal to the Crimson contingent. But it goes further than that. From packaging to performance, _Third Star_ is a stunner. Perhaps the quote from astronaut Buzz Aldrin featured within the album's artwork captures it best: 'Beautiful!... magnificent desolation!'"Anil Prasad INNERVIEWS.
The Trey Gunn Band/The Joy of Molybdenum ....CD $13.99

Third solo album from the King Crimson touch guitarist and recent collaborator with John Paul Jones and many other artists. The Joy of Molybdenum is a record born out of ongoing work with the Trey Gunn Band; a core three piece comprising Trey on 8, 10 and 12 string touch guitars, Tony Geballe on electric and acoustic guitars and Bob Muller on a wild assortment of percussion and drums. Recorded on analogue tape and mixed by David Bottrill, the extreme hybrids found on this record defy most observations. Power grooves, stretches of beautiful landscapes, tightly composed pieces, earth shaking primal drumming overlayed with transparent textures, highly refined melodies - all these and more touch on the wonderful sounds herein.

Frame by Frame's three studio plus one live album are being replace by a two volume, eight CD guide, a comprehensive overview for new ears of all that is necessary in the Crimson corpus. Old generation completists might disagree with some choices, but material not included in the guide is available for new generation completists, should they wish. The Guide can only exist now that the complete King Crimson recorded work (live and studio) is, for the first time, in one place: DGM; and the place where, arguably also for the first time, it is not being driven to serve the interests of business." - Robert Fripp, July 2004 (note - volume 2 slated for 2005)

King Crimson/Beat ....CD $14.99

30th Anniversary Edition - originally released in 1982, Beat marked the first occasion where a King Crimson lineup had remained intact for a 2 album stretch. It was also the first album by the band to employ a separate produceer - Rhett Davies. The juxtaposition of lyrics heavily influenced by 50s beat luminaries Jack Kerouac & Neal Cassady with the complex polyrhythmic musical textures of the 80's Crimson, was inspired. While Beat may not have had the shock impact of Discipline, its immediate predecessor - sounding so radically different to anything previously bearing the King Crimson name - the sense of conotinuity, the strength of the songs & the cohesion of the studio performances all helped the album chart upon release in the US & UK.

CirKus originally issued in 1999 as a 30th anniversary celebration of the group's live output offers an effective introduction to Crimson as a touring outfit. Crimson live has always been a very different beast in the concert hall compared to the studio recordings and CirKus reflects this. It's the ideal starting point for any curious listener who might be interested in the broader live Crimson catalogue; as well as the serious collector. Carefully chosen, cunningly sequenced and with the audience sounds/ambience cross-faded to sound like two continuous concerts, CirKus makes for a complete and fascinating listen in its own right.

King Crimson's popular Collectors' Club series is finally available to retail. This double disc of two popular concerts has much added value for the list price. Taken from the band's own stereo soundboard tapes, Live in Mainz presents the 1974 quartet line-up at the peak of its powers days before the end of what was its final European tour. Featuring a trio of otherwise unavailable improvs, a killer version of the rare Dr. Diamond, material from the then about to be issued "Starless & Bible Black" & Starless from the then as unrecorded "Red" album this is a must have item for all King Crimson fans. The Asbury Park Casino concert is the now legendary performance that gave rise to most of the "USA" live album. Three days later the band gave its final performance in New York. Technical problems with the original tapes made some of David Cross' violin parts inaudible when mixed in 1974, so Eddie Jobson was brought in to provide overdubs. Edits of the concert were also necessary to allow for the time limitations of a single vinyl album. At the end of the 1990s, ace engineer/producer Ronan Chris Murphy revisited the tapes. Advances in technology allowed for the restoration of all of David Cross' original performance & with the vinyl time limit also removed, a new mix of the Asbury Park concert was undertaken. Effectively - USA II, this is its debut on CD a unique concert, given a contemporary mix. This is the first in a series of titles that will released under the "Collectable King Crimson" name.
King Crimson/Collectable King Crimson Vol 2: Live In Bath 1981 & Live In Philadelphia 1982 ....double CD $14.99

Following the dissolution of the classic 70s Crimson lineup, Robert Fripp withdrew from public view during the mid 70s gradually reemerging as a guitarist on Peter Gabriel's 1st three solo outings & David Bowie's (Heroes & Scary Monsters), & as a producer - of The Roches, Peter Gabriel & Daryl Hall. He also recorded & released a highly regarded solo debut 'Exposure' & developed the Frippertronics guitar system, for performance & further recording. Bill Bruford had led his own highly regarded band with Allan Holdsworth & Jeff Berlin, been a founder member of UK with former Crimson member John Wetton & performed with National Health, Pavlov's Dog & others. In 1981 Fripp began a new band with Bruford, Tony Levin (bass player with everyone from Paul Simon to Lou Reed to John Lennon to Peter Gabriel) & guitarist/singer Adrian Belew (who'd played with David Bowie, Frank Zappa & Talking Heads in the previous few years). Initially called 'Discipline,' the band quickly became the new, 1980s incarnation of King Crimson with Discipline becoming the title of their 1st studio album issued in Oct. 1981. With the new lineup & release of Discipline, Fripp & co. had managed to delight fans, confound critics & pick up a substantial new audience along the way. King Crimson had also achieved a rare feat for a rock group becoming one of the very few acts to release a classic album in three separate decades. From In the Court of the Crimson King in 1969, via Red in 1974 to Discipline in 1981, with differing lineups & radically different sounds the band's reputation for innovation & progression (in the best sense of the word) was unassailable.

King Crimson/Earthbound ....CD $14.99

Much maligned and misunderstood when originally released in 1972, Earthbound has stood the test of time rather well. Fripp was willing to challenge the expectations of live audiences and record buyers not for the first or last time. Crimson was always like an untamed beast especially in its live incarnations. Earthbound serves as an aural snapshot in time of some of those wild moments. Remastered as part of the 30th Anniversary series, Earthbound's line-up had already disbanded by the time of the album's release. Originally released in 1972, Earthbound was King Crimson's first ever live album recorded during what was, at the time, King Crimson's final tour. It features King Crimson's 1971 touring line-up of Robert Fripp, Boz Burrell, Mel Collins and Ian Wallace. Earthbound was only ever released on vinyl and did not appear on CD until its recent 30th Anniversary release.

King Crimson/Happy With What You Have to be Happy With ....EP CD $10.98

The 11 tracks on 'Happy With What You Have to Be Happy With' include: "Bude," "Happy With What You Have to Be Happy With," "Mie Gakure," "She Shudders," "Eyes Wide Open," "Sho Ga Nai," "I Ran," "Somedays Blue," "Larks' Tongues in Aspic (Part IV)," "Clouds" and bonus track "Einstein's Relatives." The studio tracks are separated by a series of brief musical haikus. Fripp has led the band through more than three decades of musical experimentation that completely pushes the structure of rock, jazz and classical music to its limits. King Crimson has enjoyed some measure of commercial popularity over the years, but its fan base is primarily a die-hard cult. Regular touring has broadened the band's appeal, and a recent tour opening for Tool successfully exposed another generation to King Crimson's challenging-yet-rewarding music. 'Happy With What You Have to Be Happy With' marks yet another important step in the fearless, forward-thinking vision of King Crimson. The band will follow up the EP with a full-length album, 'The Power To Believe,' in early 2003, along with an extensive world tour.

This album, originally released in 1969, stands as one of the defining albums of British rock music & one of the finest debut albums of all time; described by Pete Townshend as an 'uncanny masterpiece.'

30th Anniversary Edition - The linup that recorded Islands was the only incarnation of King Crimson to look towards rock's traditional blues origins for influence. The one studio album they left behind is, nonetheless, a fine example of the many disparate influences that informed the 1971 King Crimson. The album also marks the final appearance of Pete Sinfield as a member. For futures lineups, Robert Fripp would be the sole surviving founder member of King Crimson. At first glance - with a similarly extended lineup, pieces such as the opening Formentera Lady, Prelude and title track Islands, and the first appearance of stings, King Crimson's 4th studio album seemed likely to expand upon the nature of Lizard, the album that had preceded it in 1970. But the presences of a new rhythm section (Boz Burrell & Ian Wallace) and the fact that the core lineup was performing again as a live band, helped ensure Islands sounded, at least in part, more like the product of a gigging rock band than that of a purely studio based recording group.

30th Anniversary Edition - Recorded at the start of 1973, Larks' Tongues in Aspic marked the studio debut of King Crimson's 3rd live lineup with founder member Robert Fripp joined by Bill Bruford (from Yes), John Wetton (from Family), Jamie Muir and David Cross. By the time the album was recorded, the band was well rehearsed with a strong set of material. Effectively Larks' is the first part of a trilogy that also encompassed Starless & Bible Black and Red - a body of work that still sounds remarkable some 30 years later. The albums have been consistent sellers from the point of release to the present day. Please note that the mini-LP sleeve version of the 30th Anniversary Edition is still available while limited supplies last!

30th Anniversary Edition - King Crimson's 3rd studio album and 2nd recording of 1970, was, like its predecessor In the Wake of Poseidon, the product of a studio band. It was also the 1st Crimson album for which Robert Fripp provided all of the music. An often overlooked and under-appreciated gem from their early years, Lizard featured a lighter, more delicate sound than the previous albums - an approach perhaps necessitated by an extended instrumental lineup. the expanded range of instruments allowed for intricately interwoven instrumental passages. Crimson was, as ever, seeking to expand athe vocabulary of rock music and Lizard was, in some ways, the band's most ambitious album to date. It remains a fascinating, intriguing album - an album only a band called King Crimson could make - even if it was a very different King Crimson to that which had gone before or would come after. It features a guest performance from Yes vocalist, Jon Anderson.
King Crimson/Neal And Jack And Me: Live 1982 - 84 ....DVD $16.99

Brand new DVD of King Crimson in the 80's. Showcasing one of the defining live acts of the period. As Robert Fripp puts in, "Records and live performance are two worlds. One is a love letter, the other a hot date. Crimson were always a band for a hot date." These two concerts offer different and contrasting snapshots of the 80's Crimson: Live in Fejus, heavily featuring material from the album Beat, and filmed on tour in Europe with Roxy Music; and Three of a Perfect Pair showcasing the band's triumphant 1984 Japanese performances. Features Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Bill Bruford and Tony Levin. Extras include the Sleepless video, Tony's Road Photos and band discography.
King Crimson/The Night Watch ....double CD $17.99

This popular King Crimson archival release is available once again. Drawn from a single concert at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in November 1973, The Night Watch is one of the most celebrated KC live recordings. A recording was originally broadcast by the BBC, as a result of which the concert was available in parts for many years under a number of bootleg titles all, as Robert Fripp noted, sharing the same lo-fi/hi-price problems. When DGM began issuing archive concerts in the mid 1990s this was high on the list to be restored and released. The 2CD specially priced set features a 16 page full color booklet with band photos and extensive sleeve notes by Robert Fripp, David Cross and engineer David Singleton.

By the time King Crimson entered the studio in July 74, the band had spent the best part of two years on the road, recorded two albums along the way (Larks' Tongues In Aspic & Starless & Bible Black), & shed two band members en route (percussionist Jamie Muir left for a monastery, violin/mellotron player David Cross had left at the end of the US tour a week earlier). They had also built a reputation as one of the tightest, most powerful bands on the rock circuit. Recording as a trio in Olympic studios in London, with contributions from former members & friends on sax, violin, oboe & clarinet, the group produced the last Crimson studio album of the 70s & one of the decade's masterpieces - Red. Red emerged as a distillation of everything Crimson had been working towards live & in the studio between 72 and 74. In the thirty years since its release, Red has built an enviable, enduring reputation among fans & professional musicians alike with bands from each succeeding decade citing it as an important influence. Please note that the mini-LP sleeve versions of this classic is still available while supplies last.

Starless and Bible Black, the 6th studio album from King Crimson, found the band using live material as the basis for their studio work. While some of the material was developed or over-dubbed in the studio, other tracks were presented exactly per the concert setting, thus making the album the most accurate representation to date of the lineup's uniquely powerful live sets. This line up of King Crimson features John Wetton, Robert Fripp, David Cross and Bill Bruford. Please note that the mini-LP sleeve versions of this classic is still available while supplies last.
King Crimson/Thrak ....CD $13.99

30th Anniversary Edition - A decade after the withdrawal of the 80's lineup, a new King Crimson emerged in 1994 with a series of concerts in Argentina & a mini album, Vrooom, before heading to Peter Gabriel's RealWorld studios to record the album Thrak. The album & its accompanying tours managed the task of appealing to older Crimson fans while allowing the band to develop a whole new audience - perhaps, unsurprisingly, as many of the musical ideas initially formulated by earlier lineups had been absorbed, extended & re-presented in a new light by bands directly influenced by Crimson. Had Thrak merely reiterated those ideas, most fans would, without doubt, have been happy with the outcome, but a key element in the evolution of Crimson's music & history has been the band's unwillingness to be weighed down by its own history. Thrak, the only studio album by this lineup, was confirmation of how well this approach works. Almost a decade on from the formation of the double trio lineup, Thrak has all the hallmarks of a classic album - an album that challenged audience expectations when released, yet still sounds exciting now.
King Crimson/Three of a Perfect Pair ....CD $13.99

30th Anniversary Edition - Three of a Perfect Pair is the final part of the recorded trilogy begun by Discipline and Beat. From the lovely opening title track, via the urgent rush of the "Sleepless" single through to the album's closer, "Larks' tongues in Aspic III," (the title a slight nod to Crimson gems from the 70's lineups) their distinctive mixture of rock, electronica, funk and innovative bands of the decade. The 80's lineup had lasted less than four years - recording three studio albums in that time and undertaking numerous tours, but left a remarkable recorded legacy. This final piece of that studio output is augmented with extra tracks including all of the mixes of "Sleepless," two slabs of electronica and the band's only recorded excursion into barber shop quartet vocals complete with humerous lyrics - "We're the King Crimson band, we don't do 21st Century Schizoid Man..." Ultimately a King Crimson lineup including all four members of the 80's band would perform "Schizoid Man" - but that would have to wait for another decade.
King Crimson/USA ....CD $14.99

USA was originally released in 1975 to counteract bootlegs taken from live FM radio broadcasts of King Crimson's American tour that were being eagerly sought out by the band's ravenous fan base. The line-up features Robert Fripp, John Wetton, David Cross and Bill Bruford. USA was only ever released on vinyl until this 30th Anniversary edition was recently released. This reissue includes extra tracks that were not included on the original vinyl release for USA.
King Crimson/Vrooom Vrooom ....double CD $22.99

King Crimson - VROOOM VROOOM "A double CD compilation from concerts in New York and Mexico City during 1995 & 1996. A CD release of Mexico City (formerly available only on download) has long been requested by KC enthusiasts, and the availability of On Broadway has been restricted to members of the KC Collectors' Club. So, this is an opportunity for the wider world to get lucky and Crim-out. Revisiting this difficult band I find it interests me more today than it did at the time, and at the time I found it very interesting. And exasperating. And irritating. And impossible. And quintessentially Crimson. It was a messy conglomerate of exceptional, exuberant, experienced and energetic talent... and those are only words beginning with "E" this time".... Robert Fripp A must-have record for all King Crimson fans. Includes 20 pages of photos and band diaries.

KTU's aim is to combine the creative energies, edge, imagination, humour and other elements of the double duos to make something new, different and musically explosive. Material is mainly comprised of compositions by Pohjonen and Kosminen, plus pieces by Gunn and Mastelotto and arrangements and improvisations by all four.
Bert Lams/Nascent ....CD $14.99

Already known as 1/3 of the inveterate group, The California Guitar Trio, Bert Lams continues writing, recording and touring with the Trio while simultaneously releasing his first solo album. Building on his classical training from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, and his exceptional transcribing abilities, Bert releases Nascent, Bach Preludes on the Steel String Guitar. The past 18 years have seen Bert traveling the world as a performing musician, and he sites Bach's preludes as a constant companion. Bert's choice of steel string guitar in lieu of the more traditional nylon stringed instrument, sets this disc apart as well, allowing listeners to connect with this beautifully performed Bach music on a new level. Nascent will appeal to both aficionados of classical music, and the large and ever-increasing body of CGT fans.
Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn/TU ....CD $13.99

Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn together again, improvising with drums, bass and more...rock meets ambient meets world meets electronica???? For serious music fans only....novices need not apply. "...a few months after mxing the King Crimson TPTB CD, Trey and I absconded to a loft studio in Seattle. Being Seattle (a city that drinks a lot of coffee), we formed a daily habit of drinking strong coffee which was immediately followed by more coffee and then we would jam. Coffee and more coffee, then some Absinthe, a little sleep, we would repeat the process allowing the muse to take us where she willed, which was usually for more coffee and jam. After 10 days of this we had 90% of what is now called TU." ***- Pat M
Moebius/Nurton ....CD $15.99
Moebius is mostly known for his collaborations with Brian Eno and as a member of Harmonia in the 1970s. In the early 1980s, the seminal albums of Dieter Moebius and Conny Plank came on like an early blueprint for techno, house and electro-pop, anticipating the foregrounding of persistent rhythm grooves, the side exit of the guitar solo, the extended instrumental mix of the single. Likewise, the fifteen repetitive wordless tracks on Nurton (2006) - Moebius' first solo album in eight years - are trance-inducing in thier apparently unchanging state. But to stereotype Moebius as just an extreme minimalist species of Krautrocker simply fails to do him justice. This album shows and adrenaline overload of rock shorn of its fripperies; songs, beginnings, middles and endings. This is pure electronic current abstracted into riffs and textural sound poems. Moebius' refusal to over-polish his work supplies an unpredictable cutting edge. And the child-like squiggly doodles, puctuated with weeping bell-like notes on "Das Letzte" leave you unsure whether to laugh or cry - an unfamiliar combination of moods and textures that defines the emotional complexity at the heart of Nurton, one of Moebius' best albums to date.
Roger Powell/Fossil Poets ....CD $14.99

In the 70's and 80's Roger's groundbreaking electronic synthesizer albums Cosmic Furnace and Air Pocket were hailed as masterworks. A protege of Robert Moog, Powell went on to create otherwordly synth textures for Todd Rundgren and Utopia. Legendary synth wiz Roger Powell returns with an all-new groove oriented, retro-futuristic solo flight entitled Fossil Poets.
Roger Powell/Fossil Poets (LP) ....vinyl LP $21.99
As a corollary to the critically acclaimed CD released by Roger Powell in 2006, this limited edition, clear blue vinyl LP (high quality pressing made from 24-bit studio master), will appeal to the most serious audiophiles. Joined by guitarist/bassist Greg Koch (with producer Gary Tanin adding some extra synth parts as well), Fossil Poets is an entirely instrumental affair. But instead of focusing on their playing chops (as most instrumental rock albums do), the songs are mostly about creating texture, including the ambient album opener, Lone Gunmen, and the robotic Fallout Shelter. Elsewhere, Koch provides some tasty Jeff Beck-esque guitar work (circa Becks classis Blow by Blow/Wired period) on Test Drive and Osmosis. This high quality vinyl pressing allows the sonic textures to truly emanate. (Full format album cover art with anti-static sleeve.)
