Discipline Global Mobile

The home of Robert Fripp, King Crimson, Trey Gunn, The League of Crafty Guitarists, The California Guitar Trio and more incredibly talented musicians from the King Crimson extended family. The motto of Discipline Records is:

"The phonographic copyright in these performances is operated by Discipline Records on behalf of the artists, with whom it resides. Discipline accepts no reason for artists to give away such copyright interests in their work by virtue of a "common practice" which is out of tune with the time, was always questionable and is now indefensible."

Given that motto and the objectives of The Artists' Shop, it is only appropriate that Discipline was the first artist owned label we welcomed into the Shop. And much thanks to Mark Perry for making that possible.  Mr. Fripp has put together a hot little roster for this label and growth has been good.   Also be sure to check out our new page for Tony Levin's Papabear Records not to mention Adrian Belew Presents!

King Crimson/Starless (Limited Edition Boxed Set) ....27 Disc Box Set $199.99

King Crimson/Starless (Limited Edition Boxed Set) ....27 Disc Box Set $199.99

David Cross: violin & keyboards; Robert Fripp:  guitar & Mellotron; John Wetton: bass and voice; Bill Bruford: percussives.  Few bands of the era offered as much variety in material from night to night. King Crimson's propensity for improvisation and fondness for playing its newest material often unreleased on record at the time of the concerts is legendary. Fewer bands still, whether by accident or design, recorded so many of their live shows.   Starless offers an in depth overview of one of the era's most significant bands in its most celebrated live line-up.  Autumn 1973 - as King Crimson's second lengthy US tour of that year was coming to a close, a short series of UK concerts for the end of October, followed by a more extensive European tour in November was already planned. Three of these concerts Glasgow, Zurich & Amsterdam were recorded as full multi-track recordings, with material from the Amsterdam show being used as core material for the January 1974 recording of Starless & Bible Black. From mid-March to the start of April, the band was on the road in Europe again, promoting the album with their final European concerts of the decade, prior to undertaking a further US tour. A number of these concerts were recorded on stereo reel to reel machines, fed directly from the signal as sent to the PA system on the night of the performance. These soundboards are often referred to as "The Blue Tapes," named after the outer color of the original tape boxes and are especially valued for both the quality of recording and performance.  This boxed set includes:

• 19 CDs of live performance material including: 7 CDs taken from multi-track tape including 4CDs of material from the Glasgow & Zurich shows, freshly assembled & mastered in Hi-Res from the original Great Deceiver mixes by David Singleton at DGM Soundworld in 2014, the Amsterdam show The Nightwatch mixed by Steven Wilson & a previously unheard preparatory of material from the same show prepared by George Chkiantz (engineer of all live KC shows of the era & the Red album).  11 CDs drawn from high quality stereo reel to reel soundboard tapes. 8 making their first appearance on CD with the remaining three re-mastered or drawn from new tape sources.  1 CD presenting the performance from the ORTF Paris TV broadcast.
• CD 20 features the 2011 stereo mix of Starless & Bible Black by Steven Wilson & Robert Fripp
• DVD-A 1 features the Starless & Bible Black album in 5.1 Surround, with new & original stereo album mixes in High Resolution Stereo plus bonus audio material.
• DVD-A 2 features material from Mainz (mixed by David Singleton), Amsterdam (mixed by Steven Wilson) & a later show from Pittsburgh (mixed by George Chkiantz) in quadraphonic audio & High-Resolution Stereo.
• Both DVD-A discs are region 0 playable in all areas & compatible with all DVD players & DVD Rom players
• Blu-Ray Disc 1 features full lossless audio 24/192 transfers of material from the Glasgow and Zurich shows, freshly assembled & mastered from the original Great Deceiver mixes by David Singleton at DGM Soundworld in 2014 in LPCM stereo.  Blu-Ray Disc 1 also features the Amsterdam show The Nightwatch, mixed by Steven Wilson and the George Chkiantz preparatory mix stereo in 24/96 High-resolution stereo & a 24/96 transfer of the original David Singleton/Robert Fripp mix of The Nightwatch.
• Blu-Ray Disc 2 features Starless & Bible Black in 5.1 Surround (DTS-HD MAS & LPCM 24/96) alongside new and original stereo masters of the album, a needledrop of an original vinyl pressing plus audio extras.  Blu-Ray Disc 2 also features the Quad mixes of material from the Mainz, Amsterdam & Pittsburgh concerts as well as the ORTF Paris TV footage in a new hi-res transfer from the original source files.

Fripp & Eno/Live in Paris May 28 1975 ....3 CD Set $22.99

Fripp & Eno/Live in Paris May 28 1975 ....3 CD Set $22.99

Much bootlegged, though never heard in even reasonable audio quality, this concert - one of a handful undertaken by Fripp & Eno in 1975 - is routinely described as "legendary." Hearing the tapes in fully restored audio quality, it's easy to understand why it attracts such reverence now and perhaps, why the shows attracted such hostility then. No Roxy Music hits, no King Crimson riffs, just a duo sitting in near darkness with a reel to reel tape recorder, improvising over the pre-recorded loops with a filmed background projection. Replace the reel to reel machine with a couple of laptops/iPads/sequencers and the core of much current live performance from electronica to hip-hop was there some thirty years in advance. At the time, audiences responded to such a glimpse of the future with booing, walkouts and general confusion.  Thanks to the discovery and restoration of the original backing tapes, it was possible - with much painstaking restoration work by Alex Mundy at DGM - to isolate, de-noise and match the live elements from the performance tapes to the studio loops to produce the final recording.

Edited from the album sleeve notes by Frippertronics expert Allan Okada:  "This historic recording documents an extremely rare and classic performance of a mysterious collaborative tour from two of the most creative and fascinating figures in rock. It is one of the most rewarding live recordings this writer has ever heard. For any fan of 'No Pussyfooting' or 'Evening Star,' this live recording is of epic significance and is now also comparable in audio quality, by synchronizing the most complete and best (by a mile) available live bootleg recording with Eno's recently discovered stage tapes. This tour also represented a turning point for both artists, about to enter new frontiers professionally and personally: Eno as an ambient music pioneer and Fripp's re-emergence as a "small, mobile, intelligent unit." This Paris Olympia performance was technically flawless and from a musical standpoint, incredibly inspired. This lucky audience was treated with the entirety of both classic albums as well as enough new material to constitute a third. As a bonus, we are also presented with Eno's stage tapes in pure format including Test Loops from the sound check. What more could you ask from a live recording? Absolutely essential listening."

David Sylvian & Robert Fripp/The First Day ....CD $15.99

David Sylvian & Robert Fripp/The First Day ....CD $15.99

From 1993 Sylvian and Fripp's The First Day surprised many with its hard hitting sound. Perhaps closer in spirit to the mid 1990s King Crimson to come than Sylvian's past work, the album boldly fused the accessible and the experimental, and in the exquisite Bringing Down The Light offered the first recorded example of Fripp's contemporary Soundscapes approach. Robert Fripp guested on David Sylvian's 1986 album Gone to Earth. Sylvian/Fripp evolved as an extension of that collaboration, initially with gigs as a trio with future King Crimson member Trey Gunn on stick, followed by a full length studio album with the addition of Jerry Marotta on drums, Marc Anderson on percussion and vocalist Ingrid Chavez. The album was recorded by David Bottrill in Woodstock NY and New Orleans. The album entered the UK Top 30 on release in summer 1993, its eclectic mix featuring short songs, extended, looped funk and rock hybrids surprised and pleased fans of both artists with, perhaps, only the beautiful closing track Bringing Down The Light with its soundscapes over ambient backdrop washes coming close to that which might have been expected prior to release. A single, Jean the Birdman, was issued shortly after the album and the releases were supported by a full band tour. Song driven yet leaving ample room for instrumental exploration, The First Day is a great advert for such occasional meetings in so far as it manages to showcase the individual strengths of both artists while drawing something new and unexpected from their joint work.  David Sylvian / guitar, keyboards, vocals, producer, tape, performer, mixing - Ingrid Chavez / vocals - Robert Fripp / guitar, producer, performer, electronics - Trey Gunn / stick, vocals - Marc Anderson / percussion - Jerry Marotta / percussion, drums

David Sylvian & Robert Fripp/Damage ....CD $15.99

David Sylvian & Robert Fripp/Damage ....CD $15.99

The 2001 David Sylvian mix of Sylvian and Fripp's powerful live album from 1994 Damage.   With a well-received studio album in the form of The First Day issued in summer 1993, Sylvian/Fripp took to the road for a lengthy tour to support the release.  Trey Gunn reprised his role from the earlier tour and studio recordings as stick player, while Pat Mastelotto joined the group on drums, a position which led to his being offered a role in the 1990s King Crimson, a band in which he has remained a member of every line-up since. Producer and recording artist Michael Brook completed the touring ensemble. Damage was recorded at the final London concerts in December 1993 and issued in 1994. Whereas the studio album had a measured grace and power, the live album was even more muscular on the rock pieces, drawing some extraordinary performances from all contributors. This made the contrast with the quieter, more ambient material even more pronounced, with audiences able to hear every nuance of the material. David Sylvian had rarely sounded better or more comfortable in a live setting. Robert Fripp provided some of his most blistering solos. Songs from the recent studio album were featured as were fan favourites from David's solo albums and Rain Tree Crow, alongside one new song The First Day. Initially released as a limited edition in 1994, the album quickly sold out and became a highly sought after recording. The album was remixed by David Sylvian and issued in 2001 with a slightly altered track listing and running order.

Fripp & Eno/Equatorial Stars ....vinyl LP 31.99

Fripp & Eno/Equatorial Stars ....vinyl LP 31.99

Robert Fripp's personal favorite out of his trilogy of genre-defining collaborations with Brian Eno.  Originally released in 2004 and now available for the first time on (super-heavyweight 200g) vinyl.  Brian Eno is usually credited with the claim that everyone who originally bought a Velvet Underground album subsequently formed a band. It's no less valid to suggest that many of those involved in electronic music might not have been but for No Pussyfooting and Evening Star. Indeed few contemporary albums can claim as much lasting influence as No Pussyfooting by Fripp & Eno. It's safe to say that for the vast majority of buyers at the time of its initial release in 1973, this was their first exposure to the small world of electronic music. It's equally safe to say it wasn't their last. The equipment used was, by modern standards, primitive. The ideas expressed were, by any standards, enormous. Many went on to have careers based on the possibilities suggested by the album. Fripp & Eno - to their eternal credit - were too busy working as musicians to ever 'milk it' in that sense. One further full album, Evening Star, was issued in 1975. There were occasional collaborations, but no further recordings under the Fripp & Eno banner until the emergence of The Equatorial Stars in late 2004 as a limited edition release via the artists' websites, followed by a full release in 2005 on CD.  However, it was never issued on vinyl, until now.  The Equatorial Stars consists of a series of seven soundscapes. The evident care taken in the construction and presentation of the sound world makes the totality of the work so convincing. The textures and atmospheres forming the heart of each track manage to subtly change and alter, while leaving ample space for Robert's guitar solos to emerge from the center. The album was Fripp & Eno's opportunity to redefine an area of music they helped to launch into the mainstream in the first instance.

Fripp & Eno/No Pussyfooting ....vinyl LP $34.99

Fripp & Eno/No Pussyfooting ....vinyl LP $34.99

For the first time in nearly 30 years, this classic electronic music album is available once again in vinyl format, from newly cut masters approved by the artists. Manufactured on 200 gram super heavyweight vinyl & housed in a reworked version of the original gatefold sleeve, using variant photos from the original photo shoot by Willie Christie.   In August 1972 King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp was producing some material for Robert Wyatt. Brian Eno - then a member of Roxy Music, came to the studio to add synth to the same sessions. Fripp & Eno found common cause.  On September 8th 1972, Robert Fripp brought his guitar and pedal board to Brian Eno's home studio. Using Eno's twin tape recorder/loop method setup Fripp provided two takes - one for the background guitar loop and one for the foreground solos with Eno selectively manipulating which signals were committed to the final tape. The 21 minute piece of music that resulted, "The Heavenly Music Corporation" became one of the most significant and influential pieces of electronic music ever recorded. The other track on the album "Swastika Girls" was not recorded until over a year later in August 1973 at Command Studios in London. No Pussyfooting was released in November 1973, and its unique achievement at the time was to place an album of uncompromising and experimental electronic music into the hands, homes and ears of rock music fans around the world. The album is now regarded as a seminal recording.

Fripp & Eno/Evening Star ....vinyl LP $34.99

Fripp & Eno/Evening Star ....vinyl LP $34.99

Fripp & Eno's electronic music classic "Evening Star" is once again available in vinyl format for the first time in nearly 30 years. The album's return to the 12" vinyl format is newly cut from masters approved by the artists. Manufactured on 200 gram super heavyweight vinyl & housed in a reprint of the original sleeve.   With King Crimson on hiatus from 1974 until 1980, Robert Fripp's first post-Crimson stage appearances were with a series of concerts with Brian Eno in Spain, France and England in late May 1975. Circumstances following an accident in January 1975 led to Eno formulating the idea of ambient music as detailed in the notes to "Discreet Music" - released in December 1975. The title track of "Discreet Music" was initially conceived as a backing loop for Fripp to play over at the Fripp and Eno concerts.  A short section from those concerts, reversed, provided the basic track for "Wind on Water" - the opening piece from the second Fripp and Eno album "Evening Star." The title track that follows features a Fripp solo that is regarded by fans as one of his most beautiful performances. The short, pretty loop called "Evensong" and "Wind on Wind" an extract from "Discreet Music" formed the remainder of the album's first half. Perhaps more pastoral than truly ambient, and in part indicative of the type of music that Eno would feature on his later "Music for Films" albums this was a firm step away from the long form pieces that had made up "No Pussyfooting." As if to balance the equation, the second side comprised a single piece "An Index of Metals." Running to almost 29 minutes it is almost the antithesis of the warm inviting music on the album's first half.   As starter points for a vast number of musicians, these albums are unparalleled, their influence only beginning to be fully understood and appreciated. Brian Eno is credited with the claim that everyone who originally bought a Velvet Underground album subsequently formed a band. It's no less valid to suggest that many of those involved in electronic music might not have been but for "No Pussyfooting" and "Evening Star."

King Crimson/USA [40th Anniversary Edition] ....CD + DVD $21.99

King Crimson/USA [40th Anniversary Edition] ....CD + DVD $21.99

The ninth release in the King Crimson 40th Anniversary series.  USA was originally issued in 1975 and marked the final statement by the band's incendiary mid-1970s incarnation.  The CD features a completely new stereo album mix of the full concert by Robert Fripp & David Singleton, while the DVD features High Resolution Stereo mixes (24bit/96khz) of all three editions of this album/concert.  Presented as double digi-pack format in a slipcase with Sid Smith sleeve notes, rare photos and archive material.  USA was recorded towards the end of King Crimson's final US tour of the 70s in June 1974. It was issued as an epitaph for the band in spring 1975 as a single album - at a time when doubles or even triple live albums were more considered the norm for live releases. Deleted towards the end of the vinyl era in the mid-80s, it remained unreleased in the CD era until the expanded edition was finally issued in October 2002. In common with much of Crimson's output, it was not well received at the time by critics, though its critical reputation grew immeasurably in the intervening years to the point where a review of the 21st Century Guide to King Crimson boxed set in 2004 identified the album as the point, "...where Fripp maps out the guitar blueprint for the entire post-punk movement."

If that claim sounds somewhat exaggerated, a casual listen to the opening minutes of the album where the ethereal 'walk on...' tape of Fripp & Eno's No Pussyfooting gives way to the sonic assault of Larks' II - provides ample evidence to back up the claim. It's also worth noting the audience response to the band - especially at the end of Starless, a piece that had yet to be recorded in the studio at that point.  The reputation of the 1972/1974 King Crimson line-ups is now revered by critics and fans alike, with the material so sought after that it can justify a full 21 CD/DVD/2 Blu-Ray collection of the US/Canadian tours of spring/summer 1974.  Drawn from that release & presented in the King Crimson 40th Anniversary series format, the USA CD/DVD features a previously unreleased mix of the Asbury Park concert that formed the bulk of the original album, while the DVD features Hi-Res stereo versions of that mix, Ronan Chris Murphy's mix of the concert (issued on CD in 2006) & the expanded version of the original vinyl album as issued in 2002.  Uniquely, of the releases in this series, USA is presented in Hi-Resolution stereo only - not 5.1 Surround - as Robert Fripp decided that the live power of the quartet is best experienced in stereo sound.

Ian Boddy/Liverdelphia ....CD $14.99

Ian Boddy/Liverdelphia ....CD $14.99

In the autumn of 2012 Ian Boddy played two concerts on opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean. The first was his fourth solo appearance at the Gatherings, hosted by Chuck van Zyl, in Philadelphia, USA. Four weeks later he then played at the Capstone Theatre in Liverpool, UK. There might have been over 5,000 kilometers separating the two gigs but Boddy played the same set at each and both his performances were multi track recorded. Back in his studio Boddy then proceeded to edit the audio down to a single CD length and to merge the two shows to create a composite concert. Nothing additional was added, but rather, a careful mix was made of the best sections from each performance to create a unique album that was true to the spirit of the original concerts.  The album is released in a strictly limited edition run of 555 copies, in a beautifully designed digipak, featuring the 'pumpkin synth' design by Chuck van Zyl for the posters of the Philadelphia show. Thus 'Liverdelphia' is a perfect showcase for the unique style of live electronic music created by this well respected UK musician.

Ian Boddy & Markus Reuter/Colour Division ....CD $14.99

Ian Boddy & Markus Reuter/Colour Division ....CD $14.99

Colour Division sees DiN label boss Ian Boddy once again collaborating with German composer and guitarist Markus Reuter. They were both there at the birth of the DiN label, with their inaugural album, 'Distant Rituals.' Since then both musicians have grown in stature and widened their appeal, whilst periodically combining their musical talents on a series of further DiN releases such as 'Pure' and 'Dervish.' Aficionados of the DiN label will be familiar with Boddy's musical exploits. They may not be fully aware of the plethora of work that Reuter has been involved with, including his extensive international touring with Stick Men (alongside Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto) and The Crimson ProjeKCt.   Colour Division sees these two skilled musicians effortlessly continuing their sonic dialogue over seven mesmerizing tracks. Several of these use one of Reuter's trademark guitar looped soundscapes as a starting point over which Boddy paints a glorious ambient tapestry of sound. With a beautiful cover image by Polish photographer Szincza and an elegant digipak design this limited edition DiN release is yet another high quality, eminently collectable offering from the DiN label.

Ian Boddy & Erik Wallo/Frontiers ....CD $14.99

Ian Boddy & Erik Wallo/Frontiers ....CD $14.99

Frontiers is a musical travelogue through lands unknown although the sonic climate is very much influenced by Boddy and Wollo's shared northern European heritage. The album is book ended by Vista & Ascension which features Wollo's panoramic chordal backdrops over which Boddy plays his now famous 'Ondes Martenot' glissando synth lead lines. Between these two beautiful, haunting tracks, the album is built around four sequencer driven pieces, each gaining in intensity and culminating in the intense penultimate title track Frontiers. These are interspersed with more abstract and atmospheric interludes, featuring field recordings the two artists have made in their own personal travels through their respective native landscapes. Constantly shifting in mood and tone, the album leads the listener across vast, open, icy sonic landscapes whilst periodically sheltering in more warm humane zones. Expertly crafted by two renowned musicians, this CD is a work of complex musical maturity that will open its secrets over repeated listenings.

California Guitar Trio/Andromeda ....CD $14.99

California Guitar Trio/Andromeda ....CD $14.99

The release of Andromeda celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the California Guitar Trio. The CGT plays a unique style, with guitars weaving an intricate knotwork of interlocking parts to form a whole. Bert, Hideyo, and Paul can create music which sounds like it is performed on a kind of "super-piano" and at other times unfolds an ethereal, otherworldly psychedelia. Their music is both adventurous and listener-friendly. Andromeda is the first CGT release of entirely original material. Guests on the album include Tony Levin, Julie Slick, Eric Slick, Tom Griesgraber, Tyler Trotter and more.

"Echoes" is a mix of never before released CGT arrangements from classical to pop classics, including the Trio's wildly popular version of 'Bohemian Rhapsody,' and ending with, perhaps the most requested song of all musicians of all time, 'Freebird.'   "Echoes" also includes Beethoven's 'Pastorale,' a classical fan favorite, as well as a more modern classic, 'Tubular Bells;' all of which highlight the Trio's technical wizardry and breathtaking fusion of musical styles, as well as their amazing ability to arrange beautiful versions of both known and original pieces. And, of course, let us not forget the title track! The Trio is happy to be "back home" with Inner Knot to continue in the pattern of success with the release of their previous best sellers "Pathways" and "Rocks the West."

Robert Fripp/At The End Of Time: Churchscapes - Live In England & Estonia 2006 ....CD $14.99

Robert Fripp/At The End Of Time: Churchscapes – Live In England & Estonia 2006 ....CD $14.99

Robert Fripp's commitment to the art of improvisation has been a significant feature of his performances throughout a professional career spanning some 40 years, from his work with King Crimson, to his work with Brian Eno and the development of Frippertronics, to his solo work.  Churchscapes, as the name implies, is the performance of Soundscapes in churches and cathedrals. The choice of venues is deliberate. The music is informed by the space provided and utilizes that space in return, the intent of the composer to produce a form of "devotional music" as "personal thanksgiving" as mentioned in the liner notes. Drawn from a series of performances in churches and cathedrals in England and Estonia in 2006, "At The End Of Time" provides a beautiful atmospheric recording of a unique tour.

Robert Fripp/Exposure (limited edition gatefold sleeve) ....double CD $17.99
Robert Fripp/Exposure (gem case) ....double CD $15.99

Robert Fripp/Exposure

"It's the Sergeant Pepper of avant punk." - The Wire    The term 'classic album' has been devalued somewhat through overuse, but if ever an album has proved worthy of the term, it's Robert Fripp's 1979 solo debut "Exposure."   An invitation from David Bowie & Brian Eno in July 1977 resulted in Fripp's appearance as lead guitarist on Bowie's "Heroes" album, and marked his return to full-time musician.  Further work with Daryl Hall, Peter Gabriel, The Roches and Blondie, preceded the sessions for "Exposure," recorded at the Record Plant in New York.  "Exposure" was originally conceived as part of a trilogy alongside Daryl Hall's "Sacred Songs" and Peter Gabriel's second solo album (both Fripp produced).  The new 2 CD edition consists of the oriignal 1979 release on CD 1, while CD 2 presents a version of the 1983 remix with the inclusion of the 3 formerly unreleased Darayl Hall vocal tracks & an appendix of bonus tracks all material re-mastered from the original source tapes by Simon Heyworth & approved by Fripp.   The accompanying 24 page booklet features archive photos, the original lyric inserts & sleeve notes along with newly written notes by Robert Fripp.  The special limited edition is packaged in mini-vinyl form allowing the release to fit in with the limited edition series of King Crimson 30th Anniversary re-masters that proved so popular.

Robert Fripp/Love Cannot Bear ....CD $14.99

Robert Fripp/Love Cannot Bear ....CD $14.99

Love Cannot Bear: 2005 Soundscapes - Live in the USA is the brand new album by Robert Fripp. Soundscapes - consisting of guitar solos played through a variety of electronic processors and sound modules - have been the primary focus of Fripp's solo performances for more than a decade.  The Soundscapes concept has been presented to a much larger audience over the last few years. As well as the ongoing series of individual concerts, Robert has played as part of the sell-out G3 tours of Europe and South America with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai in 2004, with Porcupine Tree in the US in 2005 and, most recently, in a series of warmly received concerts at this year's open air Big Chill festival in the UK.  With this new release Fripp steps beyond his previous soundscape recordings adding acoutic guitar (how long since he's played that?) and even Fripp vocals (!) along with some ecstatic Fripp guitar solos.  Love Cannot Bear represents Robert Fripp's best work in this genre since his landmark collaborations with Brian Eno on Evening Star and No Pussyfooting.

Robert Fripp & Brian Eno/Beyond Even (1992 - 2006) ....CD $14.99

Music composed and peformed by Robert Fripp & Brian Eno.  Initially Robert and Brian named the album "Unreleased Works of Startling Genius" as a joke.   But fans know that the duo has been one of the most innovative and intriguing, not to mention ground-breaking, musical partnerships of the last thirty years, beginning with their first release of "No Pussyfooting," to the more recent "Equatorial Stars." Initial pressing will contain two discs, with one running continuously, and one with tracks running individually. Subsequent pressings will contain one disc with tracks running individually.

Robert Fripp & Brian Eno/The Equatorial Stars ....CD $14.99

Robert Fripp & Brian Eno/The Equatorial Stars

32 years after their vanguard album, 'No Pussyfooting,' Robert Fripp & Brian Eno came together in 2004 to compose and perform seven new soundscapes on 'The Equatorial Stars' Produced by Brian Eno, this album, whose textures and atmospheres form the heart of each track, subtly changing, allowing space for Fripp's guitar solos and sounds to emerge from the center, gives Fripp & Eno the opportunity to redefine an area of music they helped launch into the mainstream in the first place.

Fripp & Eno/Evening Star (remastered) ....CD $14.99

Fripp & Eno/Evening Star (remastered) ....CD $13.99

Following their release "No Pussyfooting," Fripp & Eno continued to collaborate and eventually released their second album, Evening Star, which contained music that evolved from Eno's seminal solo album, "Discreet Music." The lengthy Fripp guitar solo on the title track is regarded by many fans as one of his most beautiful performances.  With just two albums recorded over a four year period, Fripp & Eno established a rudimentary route map of some of the music's future possibilities, and continue to inspire musicians to this day. "Evening Star" has been remastered using the original master tapes by Simon Heyworth overseen by Robert Fripp.

Fripp & Eno/No Pussyfooting (expanded & remastered) ....double CD $14.99

Fripp & Eno/No Pussyfooting (expanded & remastered) ....double CD $14.99

In August, 1972, Robert Fripp, King Criimson guitarist, was producing some material for Robert Wyatt. Brian Eno, then a member of Roxy Music, came to the studio to add synth to the same sessions. Fripp & Eno found a common cause, and ended up releasing what would become one of the most significant and influential pieces of electronic music ever recorded. Calling the album "No Pussyfooting," Fripp & Eno vowed to never compromise musically to adapt to the views of the record companies of the time. Unavailable for the past few years, No Pussyfooting has been remastered using the original master tapes by Simon Heyworth overseen by Robert Fripp, and expanded to a double CD to include The Heavenly Music Corporation at half speed and both The Heavenly Music Corporation and Swastika Girls played in reverse as the album was first introduced to the public when the original reel to reel tape was accidentally played in reverse by BBC Radio One.

Fripp Keeling & Singleton/The Wine of Silence ....CD $13.99

Fripp Keeling & Singleton/The Wine of Silence ....CD $13.99

Orchestral soundscapes composed by Robert Fripp, arranged by Andrew Keeling, engineered and re-imaged by David Singleton and performed by the Metropole Orkest.  The Wine of Silence is the first ever recording of orchestrations of Robert Fripp's music.  Since the early 1990s, Fripp has utilized the latest in looping technology and digital effects to create a gradually unfolding, highly textured, expansive and overtly orchestral music. In 2003, UK based composer, Andrew Keeling, completed work on a series of detailed orchestral arrangements of pieces taken from Fripp's solo performances which had been painstakingly transcribed by Bert Lams (California Guitar Trio). The arrangements received their live premiere in The Netherlands by the Metropole Orkest under the baton of Jan Stulen in 2003, and the Metropole Orkest will give a performance in Amsterdam on the 6th of May, 2012.  Andrew Keeling's sensitive and often startling orchestrations emphasize the reverie, passion and contemplation which is at the heart of Fripp's soundscapes. The Wine of Silence captures the spirit of the original performances reflecting the guitarist's rich musicality. It encompasses passages of yearning, melody, dramatic choral sequences and beautiful string motifs. While sometimes somber and elegiac, Fripp's music radiates a sense of hope, affirmation and resolution. With the tapes of the original Metropole Orkest performance subsequently treated by David Singleton, co-producer of all of Fripp's soundscapes recordings to date, The Wine of Silence forms a sublime and often moving collection of contemporary orchestral music.

Jakszyk Fripp & Collins/A Scarcity of Miracles ....CD + DVD-A $21.99

A King Crimson ProjeKct, A Scarcity Of Miracles is the debut release from (Jakko) Jakszyk, (Robert) Fripp, and (Mel) Collins.  Featuring a dream rhythm section comprising Gavin Harrison and Tony Levin, ASOM is a sonically rich and detailed collection of surprisingly accessible and heartfelt songs which boasts a seductive, widescreen production.  When Robert Fripp & Jakko Jakszyk got together in February 2009 neither expected that their initial sessions of guitar-only improvisations would result in a full-blown album, or that it would ultimately be deemed to be a King Crimson projeKct. As the material from those first sessions developed it was obviously becoming much wider in scope and scale. The arrival of sax player & former King Crimson member, Mel Collins, added further colour & texture to the emerging songs. The line-up was completed with the addition of bassist Tony Levin and Porcupine Tree's drummer, Gavin Harrison (both members of the 2008 incarnation of King Crimson) adding their parts to the material in their respective studios.  Echoing elements of King Crimson's unique vocabulary, while presenting a unified group sound far removed from anything previously released under the KC name, A Scarcity Of Miracles manages to be both intimate and epic, complex yet immediate.  'One of my favourite albums of those where I am a determining element. It has the Crimson gene, but it is not quite KC.' - Robert Fripp.  The album comes as a standard CD, a heavyweight 200gm gatefold vinyl edition and in a deluxe CD/DVD-A version (which features a 5.1 mix, 24/96 stereo, the ASOM video, and an album's worth of alternate mixes and improvs from the original sessions).

King Crimson/Beat (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

King Crimson/Beat (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

30th Anniversary Edition - originally released in 1982, Beat marked the first occasion where a King Crimson lineup had remained intact for a 2 album stretch.  It was also the first album by the band to employ a separate produceer - Rhett Davies.  The juxtaposition of lyrics heavily influenced by 50s beat luminaries Jack Kerouac & Neal Cassady with the complex polyrhythmic musical textures of the 80's Crimson, was inspired.   While Beat may not have had the shock impact of Discipline, its immediate predecessor - sounding so radically different to anything previously bearing the King Crimson name - the sense of conotinuity, the strength of the songs & the cohesion of the studio performances all helped the album chart upon release in the US & UK.

King Crimson/CirKus: The Young Person's Guide To King Crimson – Live ....double CD $14.99

It's the ideal starting point for any curious listener who might be interested in the broader live Crimson catalogue; as well as the serious collector. Carefully chosen, cunningly sequenced and with the audience sounds/ambience cross-faded to sound like two continuous concerts, CirKus makes for a complete and fascinating listen in its own right.

King Crimson/Collectable King Crimson Vol. 1: Live In Mainz & Asbury Park 1974 ....double CD $14.99

King Crimson/Collectable King Crimson Vol. 1: Live In Mainz & Asbury Park 1974

King Crimson's popular Collectors' Club series is finally available to retail. This double disc of two popular concerts has much added value for the list price. Taken from the band's own stereo soundboard tapes, Live in Mainz presents the 1974 quartet line-up at the peak of its powers days before the end of what was its final European tour. Featuring a trio of otherwise unavailable improvs, a killer version of the rare Dr. Diamond, material from the then about to be issued "Starless & Bible Black" & Starless from the then as unrecorded "Red" album this is a must have item for all King Crimson fans. The Asbury Park Casino concert is the now legendary performance that gave rise to most of the "USA" live album. Three days later the band gave its final performance in New York. Technical problems with the original tapes made some of David Cross' violin parts inaudible when mixed in 1974, so Eddie Jobson was brought in to provide overdubs. Edits of the concert were also necessary to allow for the time limitations of a single vinyl album. At the end of the 1990s, ace engineer/producer Ronan Chris Murphy revisited the tapes. Advances in technology allowed for the restoration of all of David Cross' original performance & with the vinyl time limit also removed, a new mix of the Asbury Park concert was undertaken. Effectively - USA II, this is its debut on CD - a unique concert, given a contemporary mix.  This is the first in a series of titles that will released under the "Collectable King Crimson" name.

One of the biggest surprises of the evening was the inclusion on the set list of '21st Century Schizoid Man,' the first time played live in London since 1973. This was also the only show on the tour to open with a Robert Fripp solo soundscape, also included on this two CD set. Rolling Stone described the double trio's sound as akin to "well-wrought sonic violence," noting that the band could keep pace with any of the younger bands of the 90's.

King Crimson/The ConstruKction Of Light ....CD $14.99

Following a series of "projeKcts" in which various members of the six-piece line up King Crimson's album 'Thrak' got together in different incarnations for what Robert Fripp deemed "research and development," a new four-piece Crimson emerged with a studio album in 2000. 'The ConstruKction of Light,' with Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp, Trey Gunn and Pat Mastelotto, has been unavailable since 2003, and, as is common with Crimson releases, sounds more contemporary now than when originally released.  A must-have for King Crimson fans wanting to complete their studio album collection which begins with the iconic 'In The Court of the Crimson King,' to 2000's 'The ConstruKction of Light' and onward.

King Crimson/Discipline (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

Following the dissolution of the classic 70s Crimson lineup, Robert Fripp withdrew from public view during the mid 70s gradually reemerging as a guitarist - on Peter Gabriel's 1st three solo outings & David Bowie's (Heroes & Scary Monsters), & as a producer - of The Roches, Peter Gabriel & Daryl Hall. He also recorded & released a highly regarded solo debut 'Exposure' & developed the Frippertronics guitar system, for performance & further recording. Bill Bruford had led his own highly regarded band with Allan Holdsworth & Jeff Berlin, been a founder member of UK with former Crimson member John Wetton & performed with National Health, Pavlov's Dog & others. In 1981 Fripp began a new band with Bruford, Tony Levin (bass player with everyone from Paul Simon to Lou Reed to John Lennon to Peter Gabriel) & guitarist/singer Adrian Belew (who'd played with David Bowie, Frank Zappa & Talking Heads in the previous few years). Initially called 'Discipline,' the band quickly became the new, 1980s incarnation of King Crimson - with Discipline becoming the title of their 1st studio album issued in Oct. 1981.  With the new lineup & release of Discipline, Fripp & co. had managed to delight fans, confound critics & pick up a substantial new audience along the way. King Crimson had also achieved a rare feat for a rock group - becoming one of the very few acts to release a classic album in three separate decades. From In the Court of the Crimson King in 1969, via Red in 1974 to Discipline in 1981, with differing lineups & radically different sounds the band's reputation for innovation & progression (in the best sense of the word) was unassailable.

King Crimson/Earthbound (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

King Crimson/Earthbound (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

Much maligned and misunderstood when originally released in 1972, Earthbound has stood the test of time rather well. Fripp was willing to challenge the expectations of live audiences and record buyers - not for the first or last time. Crimson was always like an untamed beast - especially in its live incarnations. Earthbound serves as an aural snapshot in time of some of those wild moments. Remastered as part of the 30th Anniversary series, Earthbound's line-up had already disbanded by the time of the album's release. Originally released in 1972, Earthbound was King Crimson's first ever live album recorded during what was, at the time, King Crimson's final tour. It features King Crimson's 1971 touring line-up of Robert Fripp, Boz Burrell, Mel Collins and Ian Wallace. Earthbound was only ever released on vinyl and did not appear on CD until its recent 30th Anniversary release.

King Crimson/Islands (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

30th Anniversary Edition - The linup that recorded Islands was the only incarnation of King Crimson to look towards rock's traditional blues origins for influence.  The one studio album they left behind is, nonetheless, a fine example of the many disparate influences that informed the 1971 King Crimson.  The album also marks the final appearance of Pete Sinfield as a member.  For futures lineups, Robert Fripp would be the sole surviving founder member of King Crimson.  At first glance - with a similarly extended lineup, pieces such as the opening Formentera Lady, Prelude and title track Islands, and the first appearance of stings, King Crimson's 4th studio album seemed likely to expand upon the nature of Lizard, the album that had preceded it in 1970.   But the presences of a new rhythm section (Boz Burrell & Ian Wallace) and the fact that the core lineup was performing again as a live band, helped ensure Islands sounded, at least in part, more like the product of a gigging rock band than that of a purely studio based recording group.

King Crimson/Larks' Tongues In Aspic (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

King Crimson/Larks' Tongues In Aspic (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

King Crimson/Live in Argentina 1994 ....double DVD $25.99

Personnel: Robert Fripp: Guitar, Soundscapes - Adrian Belew: Guitar, Voice, Words - Trey Gunn: Stick, Backing Vocals - Tony Levin: Upright & Electric Basses, Backing Vocals - Pat Mastelotto: Acoustic & Electronic Percussions - Bill Bruford: Acoustic & Electronic Percussions

As any fan fortunate enough to have seen the double trio lineup will tell you - even by King Crimson's high standards - this was a spectacular live band. While a return of King Crimson had been planned as early as 1990, it was only in 1992 that the idea of a double trio line-up emerged as the ideal, and it took until 1994 to get all the necessary musicians and plans sufficiently in place. The new band recorded the mini album "VROOOM" in the Spring of 1994 and, following further rehearsals in the summer and early autumn, performed a series of concerts in Argentina, including a run of shows at Teatro Broadway, Buenos Aires in October.  This 2 disc set features a full matinee and evening concert from that venue.  Taking in material from as far back as 1972, with pieces from "Larks' Tongues in Aspic," the title track from 1974's "Red." songs and instrumentals from each of the 1980s album trilogy (Discipline, Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair) and new material from Vrooom and Thrak (which was recorded soon after these gigs); the shows present a band with an abundance of material old & new, eager to perform and with the full support of an audience ready to celebrate King Crimson's return to the stage. Featuring two fully filmed concerts from the (historically significant for Crimheads) first run of gigs by the double trio lineup makes this release very special indeed. This package contains previously unreleased material.

• Two complete audio/video shows from the band's legendary 1994 return to live performance
• The earliest complete performance film footage of the double trio line-up
• Simultaneous audio/video playback DTS 4 channel (quadraphonic) surround sound & LPCM stereo (DVD video players)
• Additional audio playback in MLP lossless 4 channel (quadraphonic) surround sound available on DVD-A compatible players.
• Packaging as per 40th anniversary series with gatefold digipak, booklet with sleeve-notes, technical notes & photos in slipcase

King Crimson/Lizard (40th Anniversary Series) ....CD + DVD-Audio $21.99

King Crimson/Lizard (40th Anniversary Series) ....CD + DVD-Audio $21.99

Robert Fripp, Mel Collins, Gordon Haskell, Andy McCulloch, Peter Sinfield with guests Robin Miller, Mark Charig, Nick Evans, Keith Tippett and Jon Anderson.  Lizard is the third release in the King Crimson 40th anniversary series and was, like its predecessor In the Wake of Poseidon, the product of a studio band.  Lizard featured a lighter, more delicate sound than the earlier albums. The expanded range of instruments allowed for intricately interwoven instrumental passages and this combination, along with the prominence afforded to Mel Collins & the guest players led some to believe that Fripp was guiding Crimson towards the world of jazz & away from rock altogether. But such claims were misguided. Crimson was, as ever, seeking to expand the vocabulary of rock music & Lizard was, in some ways, the band's most ambitious album to date.   Lizard remains a fascinating, intriguing album - an album only a band called King Crimson could make - even if it was a very different King Crimson to that which had gone before or would come after.  The classic album has been mixed for 5.1 Surround Sound from the original studio masters by Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) & is fully approved by Crimson founder Robert Fripp.  CD features a completely new stereo album mix by Robert Fripp & Steven Wilson and also features 3 extra tracks, 2 previously unreleased, including a new alternate mix of 'Lady of the Dancing Water' by Steven Wilson, the long unavailable 'Bolero' remix with Tony Levin on bass (from Frame by Frame) & a studio run through of 'Cirkus' from the original recording sessions.   DVD-A (plays on all DVD players & DVD Rom players) features a 5.1 DTS Mix and High Resolution Stereo mixes (24bit/48khz) and also features the three bonus tracks in High Resolution Stereo.  Presented as a 2 x digipack format in a slipcase with new sleeve notes by Robert Fripp & King Crimson biographer Sid Smith along with rare photos & archive material.

King Crimson/Lizard (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

30th Anniversary Edition - King Crimson's 3rd studio album  and 2nd recording of 1970, was, like its predecessor In the Wake of Poseidon, the product of a studio band.   It was also the 1st Crimson album for which Robert Fripp provided all of the music.   An often overlooked and under-appreciated gem from their early years, Lizard featured a lighter, more delicate sound than the previous albums - an approach perhaps necessitated by an extended instrumental lineup.  the expanded range of instruments allowed for intricately interwoven instrumental passages.  Crimson was, as ever, seeking to expand athe vocabulary of rock music and Lizard was, in some ways, the band's most ambitious album to date.  It remains a fascinating, intriguing album - an album only a band called King Crimson could make - even if it was a very different King Crimson to that which had gone before or would come after.  It features a guest performance from Yes vocalist, Jon Anderson.

King Crimson/Lizard (200gm vinyl) ....vinyl LP $31.99

King Crimson/Lizard (200gm vinyl) ....vinyl LP $31.99

The third in a series of King Crimson high quality vinyl reissues, the return of "Lizard" to the 12" vinyl format is newly cut from masters approved by Robert Fripp. Manufactured on 200 gram super heavyweight vinyl & housed in a reprint of the original beautiful gatefold sleeve, this edition also contains bonus MP3 codes giving access to a download of a transfer of an original 1970 pressing.  "Lizard" - King Crimson's third studio album & second recording of 1970, was, like its predecessor "In the Wake of Poseidon," the product of a studio band. It was also the first Crimson album for which Robert Fripp provided all of the music. Remarkably self contained & sounding somewhat atypical for a King Crimson album - even by the standards of a band that rarely sounded similar from album to album, "Lizard" is an often overlooked & under appreciated gem from their early years. Certainly at the time of release, anyone expecting an extension of the soundscapes introduced & explored on the band's earlier two albums was in for a surprise.  As this lineup never toured, very little of the material was performed live & "Lizard" remained a product of the studio environment & the musicians who performed on it. "Lizard" remains a fascinating, intriguing album - an album only a band called King Crimson could make - even if it was a very different King Crimson to that which had gone before or would come after.

Brand new DVD of King Crimson in the 80's. Showcasing one of the defining live acts of the period. As Robert Fripp puts in, "Records and live performance are two worlds. These two concerts offer different and contrasting snapshots of the 80's Crimson: Live in Fejus, heavily featuring material from the album Beat, and filmed on tour in Europe with Roxy Music; and Three of a Perfect Pair showcasing the band's triumphant 1984 Japanese performances. King Crimson/The Night Watch ....double CD $17.99

King Crimson/The Night Watch

This popular King Crimson archival release is available once again. Drawn from a single concert at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in November 1973, The Night Watch is one of the most celebrated KC live recordings. A recording was originally broadcast by the BBC, as a result of which the concert was available in parts for many years under a number of bootleg titles all, as Robert Fripp noted, sharing the same lo-fi/hi-price problems. When DGM began issuing archive concerts in the mid 1990s this was high on the list to be restored and released. The 2CD specially priced set features a 16 page full color booklet with band photos and extensive sleeve notes by Robert Fripp, David Cross and engineer David Singleton.

King Crimson/The Power To Believe ....CD $14.99

King Crimson/The Power To Believe ....CD $14.99

This 2003 release represented the recorded culmination of the various ideas, approaches and styles employed by the Crimson turn of the century double duo line-up. Introduced and punctuated by a series of a cappella treated vocal pieces that highlighted the instrumental and song-writing skills of the surrounding material, the band was rarely so well served in the studio. Rolling Stone's David Fricke, who recognizes Crimson anticipated the "heavy terror of contemporary metal" as long ago as their classic 'In The Court of the Crimson King,' called 'The Power To Believe' "the sound of apocalypse now."

King Crimson/Red (40th Anniversary Series) ....CD + DVD-Audio $21.99

King Crimson/Red (40th Anniversary Series) ....CD + DVD-Audio $21.99

DGM is proud to present the fourth in a series of King Crimson high quality vinyl reissues with the release of "Red."  The album's return to the 12" vinyl format is newly cut from masters approved by Robert Fripp. Manufactured on 200 gram super-heavyweight vinyl & housed in a reprint of the original sleeve, this edition also contains bonus MP3 codes giving access to a download of a transfer of an original 1974 pressing - in this case taken from Robert Fripp's personal file copy of the album.   Demand for King Crimson vinyl is stronger than at any time since the mid-1970s.   As one of the band's most influential and best-selling albums this title has been one of the most requested titles for vinyl reissue.

King Crimson/Red (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

By the time King Crimson entered the studio in July 74, the band had spent the best part of two years on the road, recorded two albums along the way (Larks' Tongues In Aspic & Starless & Bible Black), & shed two band members en route (percussionist Jamie Muir left for a monastery, violin/mellotron player David Cross had left at the end of the US tour a week earlier). They had also built a reputation as one of the tightest, most powerful bands on the rock circuit. Recording as a trio in Olympic studios in London, with contributions from former members & friends on sax, violin, oboe & clarinet, the group produced the last Crimson studio album of the 70s & one of the decade's masterpieces - Red.  Red emerged as a distillation of everything Crimson had been working towards live & in the studio between 72 and 74. In the thirty years since its release, Red has built an enviable, enduring reputation among fans & professional musicians alike - with bands from each succeeding decade citing it as an important influence.

King Crimson/Starless And Bible Black (40th Anniversary Edition) ....CD + DVD-A $21.99

King Crimson/Starless And Bible Black (40th Anniversary Edition) ....CD + DVD-A $21.99

The sixth release in the King Crimson 40th Anniversary series.  An experimental hybrid of live material and studio recordings, Starless sits between the landmark releases, Larks' Tongues In Aspic and Red.  Robert Fripp once talked about an album being a love-letter and a concert a hot date. Arguably, Starless combined the best of both worlds, making it the most accurate representation of the band's uniquely powerful mid '70s identity.  This new CD/DVD-A edition features new 5.1 (by Steven Wilson) and stereo (by Wilson and Fripp) mixes of the album, high resolution stereo mixes of the original & new stereo mixes, live footage from 1973 and copious audio extras and rarities (including Doctor Diamond and Guts On My Side).  Scheduled for an October release.

King Crimson/Starless And Bible Black (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

Starless and Bible Black, the 6th studio album from King Crimson, found the band using live material as the basis for their studio work. While some of the material was developed or over-dubbed in the studio, other tracks were presented exactly per the concert setting, thus making the album the most accurate representation to date of the lineup's uniquely powerful live sets.  This line up of King Crimson features John Wetton, Robert Fripp, David Cross and Bill Bruford.  Please note that the mini-LP sleeve versions of this classic is still available while supplies last.

King Crimson/Thrak (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

King Crimson/Thrak (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

30th Anniversary Edition - A decade after the withdrawal of the 80's lineup, a new King Crimson emerged in 1994 with a series of concerts in Argentina & a mini album, Vrooom, before heading to Peter Gabriel's RealWorld studios to record the album Thrak.  The album & its accompanying tours managed the task of appealing to older Crimson fans while allowing the band to develop a whole new audience - perhaps, unsurprisingly, as many of the musical ideas initially formulated by earlier lineups had been absorbed, extended & re-presented in a new light by bands directly influenced by Crimson.  Had Thrak merely reiterated those ideas, most fans would, without doubt, have been happy with the outcome, but a key element in the evolution of Crimson's music & history has been the band's unwillingness to be weighed down by its own history.   Thrak, the only studio album by this lineup, was confirmation of how well this approach works.  Almost a decade on from the formation of the double trio lineup, Thrak has all the hallmarks of a classic album - an album that challenged audience expectations when released, yet still sounds exciting now.

King Crimson/Three of a Perfect Pair (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

King Crimson/Three of a Perfect Pair (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

30th Anniversary Edition - Three of a Perfect Pair is the final part of the recorded trilogy begun by Discipline and Beat.  From the lovely opening title track, via the urgent rush of the "Sleepless" single through to the album's closer, "Larks' tongues in Aspic III," (the title a slight nod to Crimson gems from the 70's lineups) their distinctive mixture of rock, electronica, funk and innovative bands of the decade.  The 80's lineup had lasted less than four years - recording three studio albums in that time and undertaking numerous tours, but left a remarkable recorded legacy.  This final piece of that studio output is augmented with extra tracks including all of the mixes of "Sleepless," two slabs of electronica and the band's only recorded excursion into barber shop quartet vocals complete with humerous lyrics - "We're the King Crimson band, we don't do 21st Century Schizoid Man..."   Ultimately a King Crimson lineup including all four members of the 80's band would perform "Schizoid Man" - but that would have to wait for another decade.

King Crimson/USA (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

King Crimson/USA (30th Anniversary Edition) ....CD $14.99

USA was originally released in 1975 to counteract bootlegs taken from live FM radio broadcasts of King Crimson's American tour that were being eagerly sought out by the band's ravenous fan base. The line-up features Robert Fripp, John Wetton, David Cross and Bill Bruford. USA was only ever released on vinyl until this 30th Anniversary edition was recently released. This reissue includes extra tracks that were not included on the original vinyl release for USA.

King Crimson/Vrooom Vrooom ....double CD $22.99

King Crimson/Vrooom Vrooom

King Crimson - VROOOM VROOOM "A double CD compilation from concerts in New York and Mexico City during 1995 & 1996. A CD release of Mexico City (formerly available only on download) has long been requested by KC enthusiasts, and the availability of On Broadway has been restricted to members of the KC Collectors' Club. So, this is an opportunity for the wider world to get lucky and Crim-out. Revisiting this difficult band I find it interests me more today than it did at the time, and at the time I found it very interesting. And exasperating. And irritating. And impossible. And quintessentially Crimson. It was a messy conglomerate of exceptional, exuberant, experienced and energetic talent... and those are only words beginning with "E" this time".... Robert Fripp  A must-have record for all King Crimson fans.   Includes 20 pages of photos and band diaries.

Bert Lams/Nascent ....CD $14.99

Bert Lams/Nascent

The past 18 years have seen Bert traveling the world as a performing musician, and he sites Bach's preludes as a constant companion. Bert's choice of steel string guitar in lieu of the more traditional nylon stringed instrument, sets this disc apart as well, allowing listeners to connect with this beautifully performed Bach music on a new level. Nascent will appeal to both aficionados of classical music, and the large and ever-increasing body of CGT fans.

As a corollary to the critically acclaimed CD released by Roger Powell in 2006, this limited edition, clear blue vinyl LP (high quality pressing made from 24-bit studio master), will appeal to the most serious audiophiles. Joined by guitarist/bassist Greg Koch (with producer Gary Tanin adding some extra synth parts as well), Fossil Poets is an entirely instrumental affair. But instead of focusing on their playing chops (as most instrumental rock albums do), the songs are mostly about creating texture, including the ambient album opener, "Lone Gunmen", and the robotic "Fallout Shelter." Elsewhere, Koch provides some tasty Jeff Beck-esque guitar work (circa Beck's classis Blow by Blow/Wired period) on "Test Drive" and "Osmosis." This high quality vinyl pressing allows the sonic textures to truly emanate. (Full format album cover art with anti-static sleeve.)

Markus Reuter & Ian Boddy/Dervish ....CD $14.99

Markus Reuter & Ian Boddy/Dervish ....CD $14.99

In their third studio collaboration German touch guitarist Markus Reuter & British synthesist Ian Boddy have produced their most challenging work to date. Recorded in England and Austria, the album contains a guest appearance by King Crimson's drummer, Pat Mastelotto as well as a string quartet & woodwind ensemble. Genre busting in its playful use of rhythms, unusual ambiences and based around the harmony theories of 20th Century composer Olivier Messiaen, Dervish pushes way beyond the usual comfort zones of electronic and ambient music.

Markus Reuter & Robert Rich/Eleven Questions ....CD $13.99

Markus Reuter & Robert Rich/Eleven Questions ....CD $13.99

13 short pieces, which fall together as a sort of puzzle, sometimes odd and playful, sometimes rather intense. This international collaboration was conceived and recorded in one intense week at Robert Rich's Soundscape studio in California. This is an electro-acoustic album for lovers of modern movie soundtracks, sound fanatics and people who look for beauty and melody in contemporary music.

Travis & Fripp/Follow ....CD + DVD-A $21.99

Travis & Fripp/Follow ....CD + DVD-A $21.99

The collaboration between Theo Travis and Robert Fripp has become something of a familiar musical pairing in recent years. Travis & Fripp have been able to produce a body of work that is wholly approachable, frequently tuneful and always surprising in the depth and range of material that can be produced by two instrumentalists.   "Follow" takes the duo improv concept several stages further in a number of respects. The album was largely conceived for surround sound with its multiple layers of woodwind and quadraphonic guitar, carefully placed around the larger sonic space. It also works perfectly in stereo. The wide range of wind instruments, guitar sounds and electronics available to the players have enabled them to perform in a number of settings from cathedrals to small churches to rock clubs. A multi tracked solo Travis piece ('Hear Our Voices') flows into an overdubbed Frippertronics piece ('1979' named after the year in which the guitars were performed and recorded), while the album closes with what can only be described as a guitar/saxophone call and response stomp featuring some of the most ferocious guitar soloing Fripp has recorded in a decade.  Produced by Steven Wilson.   Full album in 5.1 surround sound & Hi Res stereo playable on DVD players.   Additional audio playback in MLP lossless 5.1 surround sound & Lossless stereo on DVD-A players & DVD-A compatible Blu Ray players. DVD-A features 3 extra audio tracks and the only concert footage of the duo.  Packaging as per King Crimson 40th anniversary series with gatefold digipak, booklet with sleeve notes, technical notes & photos in slipcase.

Travis & Fripp/Live At Coventry Cathedral ....CD $14.99

Travis & Fripp/Live At Coventry Cathedral ....CD $14.99

Live at Coventry Cathedral is one of those genuine musical rarities, an album drawn from a largely improvised performance that has the potential to resonate with, and impact upon, an audience far wider than one would normally associate with such music.  Of course the very term "improvised" is laden with expectations - not all of them positive ones - so it's also worth mentioning that words like "melodic," "atmospheric," "rhythmic" can equally be applied to the music.  Fripp provides solo runs that most guitarists could only dream of conjuring, while Travis demonstrates the kind of incisive lyricism on flute or soprano sax that makes him such a substantial presence in both jazz and rock settings. It's no surprise that both of these musicians can improvise successfully; such an approach is at the heart of their solo, group and collaborative efforts. What is remarkable is that this is not the result of an established duo who have played together for years, but of a far more occasional basis of operation - a mere handful of performances to date.

Travis & Fripp/Thread ....CD $14.99

Travis & Fripp/Thread ....CD $14.99

Theo Travis is a London based saxophonist, flautist and composer. In conjunction with famed guitarist Robert Fripp, Travis releases nine improvised pieces, mastered by Steve Wilson (Porcupine Tree). This collaboration has yielded a very beautiful sequence of recordings that encompass the core elements of ambient and improvised music, while avoiding being cliche in any form.

Tuner/Totem (Definitive Edition) ....CD $13.99

TUNER consists of drummer Pat Mastelotto (KING CRIMSON) and German multi-instrumentalist and producer Markus Reuter (centrozoon). TOTEM is a re-release of their 2005 debut album, now presented in its definitive, remastered and remixed edition.   "There's an anarchic sense of play that appears to guide this record, sometimes pulling it in different directions, racing here, veering there, to produce some decidedly uneasy listening that is nevertheless richly varied but as tight as the proverbial drum."
