This 2009 release features John Cipollina/Nick Gravenites - the complete Rockpalast
concert, taped at the Kleine Westfalenhalle in Dortmund on November 28th, 1980. Cipollina
made American Rock history as a co-founder of Quicksilver Messenger Service. Gravenites
took the Chicago Blues west with his band Electric Flag. He also produced the first album
by Quicksilver Messenger Service. The openness of the Bay Area music scene was on a par
with one of the Rockpalast credos: always get the musicians together on stage for a final

COMMANDER CODY - VOL. 1-ROCKPALAST-BLUES ROCK LEGENDS $20.95
Rockpalast was, and remains, one of Germany's most popular music television shows since it
debuted in 1974. Commander Cody was the guest on July 1st, 1980. Art student George Frayne
had already reached cult status with his band Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen.
Their music consisted of Boogie, Rock 'N' Roll and Country (albeit the latter not of the
"perfect world" variety but with an edge), all performed with high spirits. The
audience enjoyed a cheerful "cinema performance" which had them all move their
limbs. Nearly 30 years later, it's time to enjoy this performance again. 17 tracks. SPV

UK seven CD box set containing each of the hit albums from CCR housed in miniature LP
sleeves plus a 112 page booklet. featuring liner notes by world-class rock music
journalists. Although they sounded like no other band, CCR redefined Rock 'N' Roll. They
showed, in the most entertaining way possible, how the music could embrace elements of
R&B and the Blues, Country, Folk, and Jazz, as well as a world of other musical forms.
Creedence were pioneers in the fusion of Rock and Country and were ‘roots’

originally released in 1983. Primarily a live album, Allies did feature some 'new' studio
recordings including 'Raise A Voice' and 'War Games' (initially the theme to the film of

DEEP PURPLE - LIVE AT INGLEWOOD '68 $20.95
2009 archive live release from the British rockers’ Mk 1 line-up. So little evidence
of this line-up's live act remains that this tape, the only surviving recording of the
first incarnation of Deep Purple on stage, is of great interest, with the band exhibiting
a brash confidence in front of 16,000 Cream fans. As a support act, Deep Purple's set was
a little shorter than normal but despite the passing of over 40 years, it's still an
exciting experience. The sound, taken from an original Sony open reel, isn't bad at all
once you get used to the ambience, with just a little distortion in the second number and
someone in the audience heard near the microphone at one or two quiet moments. It was

Thomas Dolby became one of the most recognizable figures of the synth-pop movement of
early-'80s new wave. Dolby successfully harnessed the power of synthesizers and samplers,
to make catchy pop and light electro-funk. Following the (1984) single
"Hyperactive," his career faded away, as he began producing more frequently, as
well as exploring new synthesizer and computer technology. Dolby continued to record into
the '90s, but by then, he was strictly a cult act. The Flat Earth was Dolby's sophomore
album release, in 1984, its sophisticated sound was a battle cry to any doubters,
combining Dolby's signature keyboards into a more organic, layered sound.
"Hyperactive!" -the result of a bizarre evening spent at Michael Jackson's house
-- bore the most fruit, repeating the success of "....Science" in Britain, and
scoring Thomas his first Top 20 hit in his home country. The epic "Dissidents"
felt most at home as a 12"- revisits Dolby's love of cold war espionage, and at the
other end of the spectrum, the haunting Dan Hicks' ballad "I Scare Myself" is
turned into a piano-led affair with a sexy, sultry video. The latter is a solo embodiment
of the shimmering, breathy sound that would form the heart of the Prefab Sprout sound he
was integral to creating - production values which he has said he ranks amongst his
personal career highs.
